Got this at a some clearance/estate kind of thing a shop was doing. It's all about who else shows up I guess - one of my better wins - $5.00 + fees ($1.60) - had to travel pretty far but great find - Win98SE, I have to dig in more to get other specs, but solid machine, AOL installed as you would expect a machine of the era with a modem on it :) - will take apart this weekend and give a good cleaning, return to factory and install some games if the video card is any good (GATEWAY VX900 on XPERT98 AGP x 2) That CRT is still very nice and 19" - will do 1600x1200 32-bit pretty nicely

I just put together a build with the intentions to install windows xp for retro gaming.
I acquired a gtx260 core 216, intel e8500, 4gb Kingston hyper x ram .. I put it all together. It turns on l, all fans are going but I get no screen at all on my crt (Samsung syncmaster 793mb) I got a dvi-I to vga adapter.
I know the screen works. When I put into another home windows xp machine that has a vga output on it I get picture.
The second I plug it into the adapter (not even plugged into the new build yet), the screen goes into standby mode. It does not work when plugged into the new build as well. Could it be my adapter?
My first time dealing with older machines.
I could really use some help! Was super excited about putting this thing together

Pulled this out of a closet at work. I think it is an old ASA but I am not 100%. But I am going to power it on later on and see what happends.
But what do I actually have. Is it going to be a CLI interface or GUI?
Is it worth any money?

Hello!
I was implored to post this here as well, so I'm sort of posting from r/HelpMeFind to see if this can be identifiable here, as it is tech based in a way. I will post my excerpt and pictures underneath.
I recently bought a book of stickers and they came tonight. It's a book that has a few hundred real life images of things (shells, people, desserts, objects, etc.) and it's supposed to be used as part of a junk journal. All stickers used depict real images of some kind, because they all look realistic - one page is just a bunch of stickers of old newsprint clippings or taken from vintage magazines, while another is filled with plants in vases - stuff like that.
In one page, however, there is a sticker depicting a laptop, and I'm incredibly curious to figure out what exact type of laptop it actually is. The rest of the page depicts bows, sweets, and other light colored cute things, etc. but it's the only picture that is remotely something technical on the page, which is why it caught my eye out of the other designs (besides a rotary phone).
I can imagine it looks like it's from the early 2000s or late 1990s, and shows a few areas on the face of the laptop (bottom and lower top screen) that could be watermarks for different companies or hardware ran on the system. The top number buttons are blue, whereas the bottom arrow keys and enter key appear to be a dark purple. I think some of the blurry marks on the laptop could be stickers, but I'm not sure.
Does anyone recognize this and think they can pin this to a laptop model, stock image, and or toy?
Thank you! I'm looking forward to some insight.
(As posted as a comment below, I was told in the other thread, as well, that it could be from the Asian market, which I didn't think about before, if that helps anybody.)

Was at an estate sale and saw this sitting there for a couple bucks and then flipped it over and saw the Frys ad and I was like Yep definitely gotta get this… it actually had one Fry’s ad on the back and another one in the middle of one of the sections … I think Frys was already the discount spot compared to the smaller retail stores. I had just got my 486dx2/50 pc around this time. Not long after this if I remember correctly, we didn’t have Frys in Sacramento yet, but there was a big place called incredible universe and then Frys bought that building maybe 97 or 98.. the Friday Frys ad was a usually a 4-6 page insert … for me it was a weekly trip there as I commuted right past it every day …it was crazy times. Would spend hours in that place ..I eventually ended up building my own PC in 97 and probably upgrading it 5 to 6 times in the next 6 to 7 years all from that one Frys.
Edit for very bad voice to text 🫤

hey all, recently got a gateway e1400 off marketplace, and am running into a pretty annoying issue where the pc just freezes after 30 or so seconds. Id only ever got it to boot to windows 2000 once, before restarting and running into the same issue. Removing all the components like the fdd, hdd, and cdr doenst help either. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I will say, everytime i boot it up it sometimes shows a message of memory change detected and cmos battery low, even if i hadnt touched the things. Anyways, any help on this will be massively appreciated, i could go further into detail too.

This is my friends Osborne 1 computer, whic was not even powering on when I started. I opened it and removed a bunch of small tantalum capacitors from both 5V and 12V rail to get rid of the short there and also I have removed 2 exploded RIFA capacitors from the PSU. I haven't put new capacitors in place of the ones I removed because I'm stuck with this beep. Constant beep, left floppy light stuck on an constantly spinning, screen is blank and right floppy is dead.

This is on display at IBMs previous headquarters in Norway without any information about what it is. Due to the lack of floppy drives I believe it is not a personal computer, so I think it is a terminal. Does anyone know this model?
