Esports MEMEA isn't really bad.

Memea produces one really good team per year. The don't lift trophies anymore like in the ancient times of old, but that one good team per year coming out of memea goes to grand finals, mostly Champions grand finals since 2024.

If I would have to rank all the regions, it should be like this.

Americas>APAC, Memea>China

Yes. Memea isn't that far from APAC. Just a little lower than APAC even if they haven't won any trophies in modern times.

Spoiler why this was the easiest prediction ever Spoiler

This was right before LOUD faced NRG. I'm pretty sure everyone in this subreddit had a feeling LOUD were gonna take it home.

Kinda crazy that despite everything, during franchising, China not only has more champs trophies than EMEA, they're the only non-Americas team to win a Champs.

But if you think about it, China technically is the reason LOUD won this champs. By sacrificing themselves early on, they allowed the energies of their 5 teams to be cultivated by each of LOUD's players, letting them reach their GOATential and goat diff Derke and Chronicle.

Esports Valorant Esports is suffering from success

I love how Valorant is suffering from success. The esport is so competitive that people start hating it for being too unpredictable. Yall just need to know who is going to win the tournament before hand so you can watch Vitality super team win the gazillionth champs win against their rivals the MIBR superteam. Oh no the same 4 teams from eastern Bulgaria and southwestern Houston keep getting top 4. Who would even want to watch such a tournament?

The scene rn is perfect. So many teams are so good that every region and team gets a chance in every meta. I get that there are other issues but unpredictably is definitely not the issue in VCT. Masters winners not being able to qualify for the next tournament literally shows how cutthroat the circuit is. Its literally the most competitive and global esports out there and yall cant stop complaining. No region dominates and no team dominates. Safe to say its the only true global esport right now.

And still many of y’all want to change the best thing VCT has to offer.

Esports Order of eliminations

If you think about it during the tournament, the eliminations are by region

16th - 13th: China

12th - 10th/9th: 3 EMEA

10th/9th - 6th/5th: APAC

6th/5th - 3rd: NA (yes. NA, not Americas as a whole. unless Vitality wins champs then it would be otherwise)

Discussion Who is the Ben Simmons of Valorant?

Ben Simmons is basically an Nba Player who was supposed to be the next “Goat” after Lebron James but he had one game where he messed up so bad his confidence basically never returned and then he basically became a shadow of his former self

Discussion Maybe an unpopular opinion

I don’t think putting chron in neon jail was a good idea. He just doesn’t play in a way that uses neons strengths. Yes he has solid games, but that’s because he is amazing at the game, and will probably do as well if not better at some other agent.

Discussion I'm bummed that the side I was supporting lost, but here's some thoughts Spoiler

  1. NT to Vitality, but Loud just showed up when most of VIT simply didn't. Jamppi did well with his fragging, but he got caught in so many embarassing spots with util out/not facing exposed angles (Profek did this frequently as well, uncharacteristically), giving Loud players the momentum that they so often use to build up multi-kills.
  2. Erde is an absolute monster. This guy resembles Toronto F0rsaken with the way he plays, and I can't wait to see their next head-to-head. Demon1 -> Kangkang -> Brawk -> Erde. What a legacy, and so well deserved.
  3. I really hope Loud doesn't get the Champs curse where a team that makes mid-year roster changes to win Champs and becomes functionally irrelevant after the slightest meta change. Their predecessor Champs-winning Loud did well in 2023, but slowly became irrelevant as EG took over after Sao Paulo. I really think there's a lot of life in Tkzin, Erde, and Lukxo; would love to see them play further.
  4. Even though they lost, I do think that with this grand finals appearance Chronicle has shown the world that there is no other GOAT contender in this sport. I know people doubt him because he's never been the top fragger on his team, but people need to see that his style is simply not one to take the spotlight. I think he wins so frequently precisely because of that; this is a team game, and he is the best at the two things that matter: playing with his teammates when they are alive, and clutching when they are not (I'm really trying my best to not throw out an Aspas stray here).

Well done Loud, you played like Gods.

Edit: People seem to most strongly disagree with the GOAT Chron take, so I'll make my thoughts clear. The only people deserving of being in the GOAT conversation imo today are Chronicle, Ethan, TenZ, and Meteor. If your take is that it's anyone else (maaaaybe we can tolerate Forsaken/Davai/Jinggg/Something), your opinion can just straight be discarded; you don't know what you're talking about.

Question Why is the crowd dominantly cheering for Vitality?

No hate just genuinely curious. I saw the 100T game as well and the crowd was noticeably louder for Vitality. Does Vitality have a big following in china, are there any fun narratives going on within the chinese community, or is it just because of the veterans on the roster?

Discussion The generation of uncs (22yrs+) is over, its the age of the 67 children (19yrs or lower)

The era of players like aspas or chronicle ruling the game is over, It has been over since PRX won the last unc team while all the other winning teams have shining rookie players like brawk, dambi, neon, erde which. The new blood has taken over and with the systems at play a random team no one heard of will win the the events next year while T1 teams might fall down if they keep their og lineups without picking up any newer prospects.

Question Post Conference Question

Does anyone know if there's anywhere that we can find transcripts for the post match conferences? The audio for them this even has been awful and I usually try to watch these for the teams I like. Sometimes the answers are really insightful even if most of the questions are not up to the quality I'd want them to be.

Discussion Valorant will likely never have a CS-style "Astralis Era" or one team dominating the scene for a long time

• Upvotes

Coming over from CS , one of the biggest differences in professional VALORANT is how impossible it is for a single roster to establish a multi-year dynasty.

In CS, we had iconic eras: NiP's 87-0 map run, Fnatic dominating, Astralis winning 3 Majors in a row, and NAVI going on unstoppable stretches. One core/lineup would dominate the entire scene for a year or more.

In VALORANT? The tactical parity and meta shifts make that virtually impossible.

Here are a few crazy facts that show how wildly competitive VCT really is:

No 5-man lineup has EVER won Champions twice. Every single year, a completely different core of players lifts the trophy. Even when an org like LOUD wins a second Champions title, they do it years later with an entirely rebuilt lineup.

Nobody has ever swept a full season. The absolute closest we got to a "Golden Road" was Fnatic's legendary run in 2023 when they won back-to-back international trophies (LOCK//IN and Masters Tokyo). Even they couldn't keep that form all the way through Champions.

Constant agent & map meta shifts keep the floor moving. Meta changes punish tactical depth. It often feels like a team spends 6–8 months mastering a meta, only for a massive balance patch, new agent release, or map pool swap to wipe out all their progress. It rewards teams who adapt quickly to short-term gimmicks over teams building long-term, deep-rooted playstyles.
, a team that masters a meta in Stage 1 can easily get hard-countered or fall out of touch by Stage 2.

Do you guys prefer this level of chaos where any top team can realistically win an event on their day, or do you miss having a clear, unstoppable team in the scene?

Discussion Chamber neon meta..

• Upvotes

Something needs to be done that guts neon and or chamber or makes it so their not a complete necessity on every map (whether that be a ini buff to flash ini or flash duellists)

Even after having the core mechanic that was abused removed from her kit neon is still insanely oppressive

Almost every game towards the end of champs rounds ended like this it felt like

Chamber dry peak with an op (get one tp) or chamber dry peak with an op get hit by util (tp tjen repeak and get one anyway) attack ops were super oppressive as well

I feel the main issue with the meta is chamber enabling neon unless you fully run it down no non neon comp can comfortably force chamber off the line because they cant scale quick enough on alot of sites (which is why I feel like scan ini just isn't good enough to stop repeaks as long as they dong panic tp they can just eat the scans which luk xo did several times)

Notable chokes that I feel like the point above impacts

-lotus a

split a

summit mid deep a site (by door) and deep b site (under heaven by default)

Haven c main and garage (with tp to plat or behind default)

Ascent mid and maybe a bomb site (from top gen)

Can't remember the other maps in the map pool right now but to end it off chamber controls way to much of the map right now unless you use like 3+ pieces of utility to clear yim out but current agents he can pretty easily repeat with minimal consequences with patience

Roster Rumors / Speculation Do you think NRG is gonna be making any changes for next season?

They have great chemistry and they did make every event this year, but I really don't think they're keeping this roster. As much as I love mada, I think replacing him would be their best bet. He's kinda washed if we're being honest

Discussion Should Riot have LOUD and Vitality redo series in case it was a big fluke?

No disrespect to LOUD , I'm a firm believer that LOUD 3-1ing them is a huge fluke and robs Vitality of truly accomplishing what they're capable of. I've spent the last few minutes in pure disbelief and it just doesn't make sense to me. I've spent the entire VCT watching Vitality dominate every tournament it's just not fair.

If Vitality lose again I will face that LOUD deserved the win, but I am just 100% sure it was a fluke and does a big disservice to Vitality and Valorant.

Discussion Unpopular Opinion: I Prefer Single Elimination

I wish tournaments were single elimination. Unintentionally I find myself not getting as invested in winners side games because in the back of my head it feels like it doesn’t matter because they still have another chance. Even though I know that it’s obviously still important to try and stay in winners.

Obviously I know it will never happen due to plenty of obvious reasons. But a part of me wishes Valorant tournaments were single eliminations and instead of having a losers bracket, we’d have one match a day with each match being a BO5.

- BO5 gets rid of the need for a losers bracket because it allows players more than enough time to adjust causing less “fluke victories” for lack of a better term.

- Each game feels like life or death leading to more excitement and investment

- The map pool could potentially be bigger to adjust for the BO5 map picking

- It gets rid of map veto so the grand finals is both teams at an even fair spot with no disadvantages

I think I got inspired by fighting games in the tournament that I'm not even allowed to mention. Where they were single elimination. But each set was a first to 5. So you had time to adjust and it feels like a true loss. Most of the fgc community loved the format. Again I don’t think this is the superior format for everyone or this should be implemented. But it is something that I personally would prefer.

Discussion The inconsistency of Valorant players and teams stems from the tournament format rather than meta shifts. Spoiler

LEV won a Masters title yet couldn't even qualify for Champions, the most important event of the year; LOUD won Champions, but who would dare guarantee they’ll make it to next year's first Masters? This isn't healthy for the esport. Viewers need consistent storylines and rivalries, not some unfamiliar team popping up out of nowhere to win every tournament.

In my view, this isn't caused by meta changes—or at least, the meta is only part of the reason. The bigger issue is that the circuit format leaves teams with far too little margin for error. Are CS teams always consistent? Not really. Falcons just lost to a Tier-2 team at a Tier-2 event and missed the finals, but that doesn't stop them from regrouping for a brand-new tournament just two weeks later. They have plenty of opportunities to adjust their tactics and experiment with their playstyle. Because they play a large enough sample size of matches throughout the year, their overall annual performance still cements them as one of the top teams. A larger sample size also makes individual player stats much more convincing, giving real weight to the year-end Top rankings.

To me, meta shifts are an inherent feature of Valorant and don't need to be changed, only the format needs fixing. If the number of international tournaments is bumped up to 10 or more a year, we will naturally see overall consistent teams, consistent players, and dominant superstars who stand head and shoulders above the rest every single year.

Esports What's up with getting caught with knife out?

How come pro keeps getting caught with knife out, I see this happen time and time again.

And it's even while rotating, they literally enter areas of the map where they know people are and get caught with a knife out. Sometimes even during retake.

They'll probably be better off using the default knife to stop with the distraction.

I usually watch CS and even they don't get caught so much. Atleast hold pistol for god's sake, the speed won't be that different.
