I-485 (General) Im so sad.

Post image
167 Upvotes

I filed my i485 may 2026. Had my hiometrics on june 2026. Today i received the notification on my account that it was denied.

The i130 is in rfe. Im so lost i dont know why and how. All i can do is wait for the mail that says why it was denied.

I looked into google if we file again. It says we have to pay another $1,440 for the i485. But why they kept the payment if it was denied? I’m literally crying the whole day about this notice.

N-400 (Citizenship) HELP N-400 DENIED

Hi everyone! I’m looking for advice from anyone who has experienced a similar situation.

I recently had my N-400 denied due to filing our 2023 joint tax return late. We filed it in June 2024, and we did not owe any taxes. We didn’t have an authorized extension. Our 2024 and 2025 tax returns were filed on time.

I passed my English and civics tests at my naturalization interview, but USCIS denied my application based on good moral character due to the late tax filing.

I’ve decided not to appeal and am considering applying again in the future.

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone had their N-400 denied for late tax filing and successfully reapplied later?
  2. How long did you wait before reapplying?
  3. Is there a point when the 2023 tax issue would no longer affect the good moral character requirement, or can USCIS still consider it even after three years?
  4. Would waiting until I have filed my 2026 taxes on time be helpful before submitting a new N-400?

I would really appreciate hearing about actual experiences, especially from anyone who reapplied and was eventually approved.

Thank you!

I-130 & I-485 (Family/Adjustment of status) Finally greened!

Good day everyone, I would like to share my journey/process with all of you and hopefully give you some hope in this journey.
I came here when I was 12 years old (2004) as a visitor and overstayed. I became a DACA Recipient in 2013/2014. Hoping that some day that would be a path to citizenship. Met my husband in 2020 (us citizen). I did not want him to process it for me, still hoping that the DACA will bring forth something good. After being married for about 2 years. My husband was very adamant that he wants to do it for me. So we started the process in the end of 2022. We did everything ourselves because we were trying to save some money. In 2023 we got a letter saying something was wrong with the form I-485. I read through it and did not see anything wrong so I sent it back in like that. Late 2024 they denied the I-485 but scheduled the interview for I-130. So we got a lawyer and the lawyer explained that the reason why they denied the I-485 was because I did not add a sponsor form for my husband. I only added for my joint sponsor. So there should be 2 sponsor forms in my application, 1 for my husband and 1 for sponsor. He advised to go to the I-130 interview as that is the hardest one and if everything goes well, refilling the I-485 should be very easy. Interview date came which was in January of 2025, the interview was canceled on the morning of. I was really scared and worried. It took about a month for the office to reschedule to March. We took our lease to our appt about 3 yrs worth, lots of pictures, our friends and family wrote letters talking about how they know us together and just about what they know about us together. We did not have a joint acct at the time. We had one when we first got married but finances started being one of our major issues and we decided to let go of it to keep the peace lol. Interview questions asked was how we met and that was all. We got approved same day. Filed I-485 in February 2026, interview scheduled for July, canceled again and rescheduled for August. Second interview we went with more pictures and we had a baby already. Questions asked were the regular yes or no questions and asked who our sponsor was. Everything went smooth. I got approved 1 month later. Been here almost 22 yrs and finally greened. Thanks to everyone on this platform for posting your experiences. To the ones waiting, stay hopeful.

I-130 (Family/Consular processing) I Think It’s Time to Revive the K-3 Visa…

I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong when filling in the required fields but it’s hard for me to believe that the I-130 processing time frame is nearly 5 years. After checking some posts from 2025, the processing time appeared to be somewhere between 1-2 years for most users so I have no idea how suddenly there’s nearly a doubling in the time frame. What’s worse is that out of the two tabs, if I click on the all fields option I get the 83 months…

I can’t help but feel that something is wrong here. I feel that the site might be having some issues since they aggregated all the individual field offices to give us these processing times. Even when I was looking into the K-3 Visa, the USCIS website claims that the processing time for the I-129F is the same despite the processing time for the I-129F on the site is about 13 months.

I filled out the I-130 in April of this year to try and get my wife into the States and the receipt shows National Benefits Center, so I’m currently thinking about taking my chances and getting her to apply for the I-129F to try for a K-3 visa but I would really appreciate if someone who better understands the process could help explain some of these times to me.

Thank you all and best of luck with you visa processes!

Was approved last week thank God 🙏🏾we had an interview on 9 October and the interview went really well, but she didn’t approve it on the spot. She also requested for us to upload the documents that we presented during the interview online to our case profile, we weren’t aware that we had to upload these documents additionally before going to the interview, but she was so nice. She gave us three days to uploaded ourselves and if we didn’t, she will send out an RFP obviously we got that done and raced home as soon as possible. Within an hour. She works fast and updated our profile after the interview and it stated“your case is now being processed “then by Wednesday of last week I 130 got approved then the following day I 485. We are so thankful for the speedy process, but I do not wish the stressed on my worst enemy, I am so thankful me and my wife had a fast timeline ‼️.
Our timeline
Im a us citizen
My wife was on on a J-1 visa on her last 2 year term
We got married on may 11th but have been together for a year before getting married ‼️
-Submitted documents for adjustment of status
June 8th
-June 10th payment was declined (was my fault I forgot to transfer my funds I was told they take a while to process payments and I didn’t want my current bills to override my funds for documentation)
-July 2 we received all the documents back with a denial letter but everything was scanned (that means the documents were good just needed to pay again )
-July 8th payment was accepted and case was being processed
-July 17th biometrics were scheduled for my wife
-August 4th was her fingerprinting
- August 26th we got an RFE cancellation of request we knew the interview was coming up right after
- September 3rd we got the interview schedule for October 9th
-during this time we gathered all of our information and useful documents joint banks
-life insurance policy of each of us being the beneficiaries for each other
-proof of car insurance of us jointed
-we had about 6 affidavits and a co sponsor that the officer told us was not needed because I’m over qualified but we wanted no weaknesses in our case and I got laid off before the interview and I have to show proof of work but she never asked any of those questions.
Now since we are approved I’m just waiting for the green card to be approved 🙏🏾😌

Asylum/Refugee Case Status: Closed?

• Upvotes

MyUSCIS account shows “Case Closed” above my asylum case, but the actual status says: Next Step is Adjudication. I applied in 2024, but the date says it was submitted on 10/6/26. I’m assuming this means nothing…and I’m still waiting on an interview, but wanted to make sure?

N-400 (Citizenship) Memphis FO - Oath Ceremony

Hi everyone. Has anyone had a recent experience with oath ceremony at Memphis FO? Like how long it took and what time your appointment was and really just a general walkthrough of what to expect.
I am taking my baby and want to make sure I can prepare on when I feed him etc.

N-400 (Citizenship) Anyone recently APPROVED despite being on an IRS payment plan?

• Upvotes

I know this question keeps coming up, and the consensus here seems to be that a payment plan means denial. But I wonder if that's survivorship bias in reverse: people who get denied have a reason to post, while people who get approved just move on quietly.

So if you were approved after the August 2025 memo while on a payment plan, I'd love to hear about it. Details like your field office + timeline is also appreciated.

About me: applied in December 2025 NYC field office, all my taxes are paid in full but I was on a payment plan until last month. I’m personally hoping my interview isn’t scheduled for a loooong long time. I’m in no rush lol.

I-130 & I-485 (Family/Adjustment of status) Could I get denied?

• Upvotes

I applied for AOS in May 2026, and I got an RFE about the affidavit of support - so we added a joint sponsor and mailed it. After mailing, we realized that our joint sponsor had electronically signed the letter, even though it needs to be hand signed. We quickly uploaded a correctly signed version under unsolicited evidence. Could this really be a reason for them to deny our case?
I haven’t had any updates since June when I did biometrics and i’m getting super worried

I-485 (General) WIC & Public Charge

Hi everyone.

I am in the process of submitting the I-485. I am not sure what to answer for the public charge question.

My wife did get WIC during her pregnancy and my son continued to get WIC until yesterday(October 19) . On a phone call they asked to provide my new paycheck;which has increased. They decided we are no longer qualified because of the increased salary. I am fine with that.

I heard WIC is included in the new public charge policy (sep 18,2026). To that question, should I say yes and explain or just say no?

Pleas help. Thank you!

N-400 (Citizenship) N-400 Timeline and Interview Experience

Filed for naturalization: September, 2025

Receipt & Biometrics waived notice: September, 2025

Interview Scheduled Notice: September, 2026

Interview Date: October, 2026

I applied for naturalization through marriage to US citizen. My application was relatively straightforward with no major complications. I went to the USCIS office with my spouse for the interview. I wore collared shirt and dress pants. My interview was in the morning and I had to wait about an 1.5 hours for my appointment.

They finally called me in for the interview, my wife was allowed in with me. When I entered the interviewer's office, they asked me to swear I will be telling truth (the whole truth and nothing but the truth oath). Interviewer said, they were having some technical difficulties thus the long wait. They said they are going to push through and start the interview. They asked me for 4 documents:

  1. Passport

  2. Green Card

  3. Driver's License

  4. My wife's birth certificate

Then they asked me why you did not register for the Selective Service? I said "because I was on a student visa". Then they asked me for my student visa which was on my older passport. Then they returned all the documents back to me.

Then they asked me some basic questions about relationship history of my partner and I. Then moved to civic questions, I had to answer 6 out of 10 right, I had studied so I got all 6 questions right. Here are the questions I was asked:

  1. What is the supreme law of the land?

  2. What is Abraham Lincoln famous for?

  3. Name one war fought by US in 1900s.

  4. What was the biggest concern for US during cold war?

  5. Who wrote Declaration of Independence?

  6. Name one ammendment to the US Constitution regarding who can vote?

Then the interviewer printed a sentence on a paper and asked me to read it. Then dictated a sentence and asked me write it on a paper (usually this is done with the help of a tablet but the tablet was not working due to technical difficulties).

Then they asked me a bunch of yes/no questions about whether I have tried to overthrow the government and what not. Then asked me if I pledge to follow the law and bear arms if necessary if I become citizen. After that, they said I have passed the test, gave me a piece of paper saying I have passed the test and said the interview is now over.

I am now waiting for my oath ceremony to be scheduled. Anyone knows how long I would need to wait to get the interview notice?

Rant Incredibly Frustrated with the K1 visa Process (UK-US)

If anyone can provide us with advice or a contact who will actually answer I will be so grateful. Here is the situation:

My Fiance and I applied for the k1 visa back in Feb of 2025. We filed on our own and submitted everything that was required. This is both of our first marriages, no kids, and clean records for both of us.

The initial process for the 129-f and getting it sent to the NVC took months longer than what every timeline listed online and we even received a request for additional information which we submitted. (Basically, they wanted print outs of our photos with the locations and dates written on them instead of our photos screenshotted from FB where the dates and locations were included in the post, go figure)

Getting the case to the NVC and then to the embassy took ages. For a while we were told that they may have lost our application and we would have to start over, but eventually it was located and sent off to the embassy. This was around Feb. of 2026. Once my fiancé was able to schedule an appointment, he did and his appointment was at the beginning of July of 2026. Everything went well and the interviewer told him that his visa and passport would be mailed out in about 2 weeks. Those 2 weeks turned into a month, and that's when we contacted the embassy for an update.

About 5 weeks from his original appointment, my fiance got a call from his GP stating that the embassy was requesting his full medical history from the NHS and if he approved it, it would take 28 days to obtain the records. He agreed, and he also got a call from the embassy stating that there were some matters of concern with his interview and they just wanted to make sure everything was good. We were frustrated, but we waited the 28 days and then sent over the records.

My fiance was then told that his records had to be reviewed by their medical director and that she was currently in the US for a conference but promised to take the week and look over the records. We waited a week and heard nothing. Finally, he was contacted and the embassy told him he would need to meet with their psychologist on a telehealth appointment and that it would cost 3000 pounds which is about 4000 US dollars. We were shocked, but having no other option we paid and he did the interview.

During the interview, he was questioned about his teenage bout of depression and then it was explained to us that this appointment was needed because of a picture on his instagram. The picture in question? A meme from almost 10 years ago of a pokemon (Wooper if anyone cares) holding a firearm. It was very clearly a joke and of no threat or concern. But whatever, interview with the psychologist goes well and she states that everything looks good and will send it to the cdc for review.

That interview was in the middle of September. We have not heard anything since. The AIS visa website and CEAC visa status checker have not been updated since August 20th. I have emailed the embassy twice asking for any information since none of our questions can be answered from the Visa wizard form they have on their website but we never get an answer. We call the embassy but they won't discuss any visa matters over the phone.

So, what I am asking is, 1. Have you had to deal with this and/or 2. What do we do? We feel like we are being extorted for money, are given no information on time or process or anything. We canceled our wedding which was supposed to be in June of this year. We have not been able to see each other since March of 2025 due to him not being allowed to come here until he has the visa and I cannot afford to take off work because I work in a 24 hour setting and staffing can be sparse. I am so exhausted, I have had to attend multiple funerals, weddings, and go through incredible hardship with my chronic illness alone. Meanwhile, my incredible partner who wants nothing more than to help me is stuck 3000 miles away. We have done everything they have asked and cannot even get an email back on what is going on? Please, someone tell me I am not crazy or that there is recourse for this or that it will all be over soon. I just want to see my love.

I-140 & I-485 (Employment/Adjustment of status) NOID Fraud/Misrepresent for 485

Hi experts, I just received my NOID for my 485. It's citing: Fraud - Misrepresentation INA 212(a)(6)(C)(i).

It's due to some student organization/activity back to more than 10 years ago. I didn't input Yes on my 485 as my understanding they don't belong to 485 definition. These organization/activity are just for serving our classmates or for volunteer work.

Unfortunately, I cannot apply for waiver, this is employment based 458.

Does anyone have similar issues before? Or anyone can suggest how to respond? Thanks

More info

- I used to attach a resume for my DS160 application (back to 10 years ago), which list some student activity as Extracurricular Activities

- But I answered No for 485 when asking Have you EVER been a member of, involved in, or in any way associated with any organization, association, fund, foundation, party, club, society

This is where USCIS NOID coming from

N-400 (Citizenship) Pending traffic court date with scheduled N-400 interview.

Hello all,

I have pending traffic court date for expired car tag and operating unregistered vehicle (bc of the expired car tag) on Oct 29th. I just received notice that my combo I-751 and N-400 interview is scheduled for Nov 17th. My attorney says that he is not planning to have me plead guilty and I’m afraid this could potentially have me in trial, which will not resolved before the interview date and will cause delays or deny for my N-400…. Should I plead guilty so I can get the court disposition to show that the case is resolved prior to the interview date? Or should I have my attorney challenge the ticket… Any advice would be highly appropriated!!

Timeline: Other Silent update?

The JSON showed some sort of an update for October 19th. Does this mean anything or is it simply a sign of the application moving through the system? It’s I-485 marriage based.
