Hello, I am wondering if this is even worth pursuing.

I am doing a course where in each tutorial there are marked group activities. Collaboration/teamwork isn't a learning outcome in this course (so they aren't assessing our team-work abilities but only application skills). Anyways, I have missed these tutorials due to my mental illness which I now have a SAP for. I know the content, however I get incredibly anxious showing and doing this work in front of others, not to mention other aspects of the illness which made me miss a big portion of it. This is for 2 courses, both which have the attendance aspect as 10% and 15% respectively. I am logically aware that these are very free marks, I mean you're technically working with others on 3/4 questions maybe and as long as one person knows (very likely) you'll get full marks, yet I still struggled attending.

I am wondering if it's worth asking if I could get the attendance marks redistributed across my mid-semester, assignments and final exam instead. Or even an alternative assessment? I have a SAP in place but I only got it set up this semester and I have no idea what comes with it or what I am eligible for. I have a meeting with the wellbeing team but I would like to know my prospects before I come in.

If anyone knows or had this happen please provide advice. If it's approved it would make my life a lot easier and help me meet GPA requirements (I want to transfer into something else next year). I hope I get approved since based on the ones I did attend, every single other assessment piece I have completed is a lot harder, it's just my illness and period of adjustment (I am finally medicated and we are still adjusting dosages) has made it incredibly difficult for me to attend.

Please don't shame me for missing such a simple requirement. I more than understand how embarrasing this is and I am working on it, I've struggled with attendance my whole life due to it and only now am I understanding the cause and working on coping strategies. I understand the real-world isn't as accepting but I hope that by the time I finish my degree I will be able to cope without adjustments. So please, just advice :')

Anyone do provisional med that didnt do science in highschool? Ive been looking into it but i dont do science at all in school, i also know science isnt a prequisite but you need to do certain biomed subjects, and you can do a high chemistry subject in your first sem without bridging. Has anyone done these highschool science subjects under provisional med undergraduate degree? How did you find it, was it managable? And how do people find doing an irrelevant provisional degree like stats or maths find it?

I am currently debating doing MATH1051 over the summer, as I want to graduate as soon as possible. Is it compatible with about a 25-30 hour work load? Is it hard than sem 1 MATH1051?

The UQ Centre has free indoor pickleball courts available today from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Since it's indoors, the morning rain won't affect at all.

I had a fight with my parents lol

Hey guys, I would like to seek some advice from people who is currently studying this course. I heard that most masters do not offer lecture replays how bachelor degrees would normally do, may I know if that applies to this course? I am asking because I may likely miss the first week, but I am worried that by doing so I am not able to go back to watch the lecture of said week. If anyone would advice me on that that would be great, thank you very much!

Hi, I’m moving up from the Gold Coast next semester and am looking at housing options. My parents have a 4-bedroom place in St Lucia close to campus and they’ve said they’ll rent it to me, but they want to charge me $750 a week. I’m trying to figure out if it’s reasonable for a place that size around UQ or I should look at other options.

Burner account for anonymity, but I'm a student at UQ and have found myself with nowhere to stay. I scoured online and didn't find anything on UQ saying it's not allowed to sleep on campus and I think for the foreseeable future I might find myself sleeping around the 24/7 libraries if I can. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

I’ve had Covid, influenza and a resulting lung bacterial infection take a firm grasp of my life for the last 2 weeks and as a result i’ve been bedridden. While I don’t have any assignments due, my exam prep has been griefed by this. Is there anything I can do for the final exams?

Looking to move out bcs my family is tin foil coocoo crazy and the commute is pretty long and I work casually… but if I were to rent id barely save any money for anything else it seems, unless I were to work a lot more in which case I wouldn’t have time to study.

I’m 19, so under Centrelink im still a dependent and my parents earn too much so id get like maybe $10 a fortnight. I was lodging my dads parental means test today and I just kind of gave up because whats the point

Does anyone have any experience taking political science, international relations, or sociology at uq. Currently torn on whether I should switch majors from IR to Extended Political Science, or switch my other major (history) to sociology. I'm wanting a major more focused on policy writing.

Hi everyone!

I'm currently in my second semester of a Masters program at UQ, and I'm planning to take BIOX7008 (Major Research Project & Seminar), which is an 8-unit course, during Summer Semester 2026.

The course is officially listed as being offered during summer, and I've already secured a research project and obtained the required signatures from my supervisor and examiner.

However, I noticed that:

1. UQ normally allows a maximum of 6 units during the Summer Semester, and special approval is required to exceed this.
2. BIOX7008 is listed on the official UQ course website for Summer 2026, but it's missing from the SCMB Student Hub application dropdown.

I've already emailed SCMB and the Faculty of Science regarding this, but I'm waiting for their responses.

Has anyone here previously completed BIOX7008 or another 8-unit research course during summer?

If so, did you need special approval from the Associate Dean (Academic)? Was it difficult to get approved?

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through something similar. Thanks!

What libraries on campus are not open to the public?

What is going on in the men’s bathroom’s , I’ve never once wanted to post or respond to anything but it’s getting ridiculous. Like I feel as though you should have to start swiping your student id card to use them.

People are genuinely just trying to make them unusable to the point where you can smell them outside the bathrooms. Like is there something going on here. Is it the schools students unable to use them properly now following grow library.
