Please be nice to your uber drivers, stop making them wait 7 minutes. You think we get paid well? We don’t get paid for waiting 7 minutes. We are sick of hearing I’ll tip you in the app and nobody does who says it. If each ride makes us wait 7 minutes for you to come out that’s 28 minutes an hour if we do 4 rides in an hour of us not making nothing for waiting. And no more over filling the car! We can count above 4! We aren’t stupid! This is our earnings for each ride… when you pay triple we get a 30%

Please, for the love of god, whoever keeps setting off the alarm in JQA, just smoke outside or something.

Im a current student elsewhere. I feel very isolated here and don't have a lot of interdisciplinary options. I am a neuroscience and film major and don't like it here. The town area is not great lol. I got into UMass when I applied in high school with a huge merit offer and would be paying about 20k there, which is how much I pay here. My dad, uncle, and cousin went. My dad and uncle were pretty into partying; my cousin was not, and he is introverted and had a pretty good time. He graduated about 2 years ago. I consider myself in the middle of introvert and extrovert. Here, I am in my room a lot, and the frat culture is a lot. I know it's similar at UMass, but I am just wondering if it's easy to make friends who are more into low-key get-togethers and studying together. I would like to attend the Honors College as well. I am also worried about the downtown part; I want it to be pretty accessible. I would be in a good spot tuition-wise, and I definitely prefer other schools that I am looking to transfer into, but if it comes down to cost, then I would probably choose UMass. Basically im looking for some insight on party life, interdisciplinary options, making friends, and Greek life (which im not a fan of personally), especially with safety risks, etc.

The Smith College Student Event Committee and Smithies in Science club are excited to have Dr. Elisabeth Bik for a virtual talk on Monday 10/26 at 12:45-1:20pm. Dr. Bik is an image forensics detective who investigates scientific papers for incorrect or falsified data, especially in biomedical research. Her work has led to 1,700+ retractions and 1,200+ corrections. Her virtual talk will address image duplication and 'paper mills', journals that produce low-quality or fake papers, often with AI. Hi I am looking for someone to take over my sublet in the feildstone this spring if you are interested please dm for details!!

I have been trying to log onto SPIRE since last night, but I just kept being sent to a page saying that there was technical issues. Now this morning when I attempt to log on, I oddly just keep being sent to the Alumni log in page instead. Is anyone else having issues?

Has anyone participated in the sales offerings at Isenburg? My son is considering transferring. He’s in a great sales program at a different school and trying to weigh pros and cons of transferring. Thanks.

Hi everyone!

I’m currently an online master’s student in Computer Science at UMass Amherst and am planning to move to Amherst for Spring 2027 to continue my program full-time.

I’m looking for someone interested in sharing a 2-bedroom apartment near the university. Sharing an apartment would help us reduce rent and other living expenses.

A bit about me:

• Male Graduate student
• Clean, quiet, and a non-smoker
• I’ll mostly be studying in my room, so I value a peaceful living environment

If you’re also planning to move to Amherst around Spring 2027 and are looking for a roommate, please comment below or send me a message. We can discuss apartments and lease options together!

Thanks!

Hi,

I have an assignment for one of my classes that requires me to survey UMass Dining employees. This survey is anonymous (there is a name field, but its optional and you can put whatever you want there). Please don't fill this out if you do not work for Umass dining. In order to fill this form out, please sign in with your UMass Email Account. If you do not know the answer to a question, please say that. FORM LINK

Thanks.

Hey everyone I don't know if anyone knows the answer to this but I can't seem to find this information anywhere else reddit nor web search. Basically I will be a research assistant for a lab this coming summer but I wanted to know if there will be any compensation. It isn't through the Lee-Sip program, and I haven't applied to any funds or grants yet. I know that I can't even achieve credits since it will be considered off-semester and will be charged 550 per credit.

TLDR: Is there any compensation in doing research in the summer, and if not is there any funds or grants I might be able to apply for in case.

Thanks y'all.

I'm super interested in getting into the energy industry (especially renewables) but it doesn't feel like there's many professional opportunities at UMass for it :/ so I was wondering if anyone would be interested in potentially making a club for this? We could pool together our resources and push for more professional opportunities for this at UMass, and network with one another

So as a 24 year old undergrad I sometimes feel weird around people that are 18-20 since there is a huge age gap I was just wondering is there a way to meet students closer to my age?

Hi, I’m taking soci 103 with terra and we have a midterm coming up and idk what I should be expecting. I’m not great at writing and this is just a gen ed I want to get over with so I wanna make sure I get an A. if anyone knows anything or how past exams were or questions pls lmk.

Hi! I’ve been accepted to UMass Amherst for Informatics, and my long-term goal is to build a career in FinTech.

I’m wondering whether Informatics is a good undergraduate degree for entering FinTech, particularly in roles that combine finance, business, and technology, rather than purely technical software engineering or machine learning roles.

What kinds of roles could I realistically pursue with this degree? Would I need to take additional finance courses, choose specific electives, or build certain skills and experiences through internships and projects?

I’d love to hear from UMass graduates or anyone working in FinTech about how useful an Informatics degree would be, what career paths it could open up, and what you’d recommend doing during undergrad to become competitive for these roles.

Thanks!

Per the title above, I’m a senior, this is my last semester here, and I wanna make it count as much as possible. So with that being said, does anyone have any bucket list items they might be willing to share with me? Anything you absolutely recommend I do before my time comes to an end here? It could be on campus or in the area!

We've added some new friends and more tables! Come join us for some fun at the corner of Chapman and Main St in Greenfield!

I want to live off campus my Senior year (current sophmore) and have been looking around just to get some ideas and have been looking at Puffton since it is the cheapest one I've foind so far. I also saw they have apartemnts in Hadley for even cheaper but haven't heard much about them. Has anyone lived in the fort river apartments or currently living there? How are they? I also know it is hard to get into puffton without knowing someone so would it be crazy to put in an application now in hopes of getting off the waitlist by fall 2028? Or is it still too early? I'm not sure how it works honestly lol. Only other optinion in my price range that I haven't heard awful things about is Brandywine.

I'm having some living issues (being vague on purpose), and I'm wondering if there are any vacancies on campus before I contact housing to potentially move out of my current situation.

My boyfriend bought a plane ticket to come here for Halloween weekend but ik they won’t allow guests. And ofc the Umass hotel is booked. And suggestions?💀

How strict should I be when writing my RA application? Do I need to write a lot, or will a good, solid paragraph do the job?

New Ricchio engineering building close time?
