Mechanical FIU vs UCF

Hey guys. I’m currently a college freshman at Broward College, and I originally majored in piloting because they had a great program, but I realized it wasn’t for me. So now I've chosen mechanical engineering, and I'm wondering whether I should transfer to FIU or UCF. During my senior year of high school, I got accepted into both colleges (even UF), but I left everything for BC. I'm choosing FIU over UCF because I want to stay local, and I feel like im not prepared enough to be on my own in Orlando. The people I’ve talked to who go to UCF for mechanical engineering are enjoying everything because of how many resources are available to them. Where should I go? I know FIU has a great program, but UCF has much better stuff to look forward towards. I want advice.

Mechanical Brown, Fang, or Quadir for Materials

Planning on taking EGN3365 during the spring and the 3 professors that are teaching the class either have bad reviews or no reviews. Wanted to see if anyone has info or opinions they can share about
Chase Brown, Jiyu Fang, and Mohiuddin Quadir

Mechanical Good GPA to pursue research and attractive employers

I am a double major with mathematics and mech eng, I geniunely messed up because I got 2 B's in MHF 3302 and MAS 3105. It was literally just not locking in on 1 exam and getting capped at like a 88% for both.

Tangent aside what GPA is good to stay at, I want to maintain and reach a 3.95, but in case I'm dumb and cant maintain it what should be something that is satisfactory for graduating especially for grad school?

Computer Engineering vs Electrical Engineering. What would you recommend?

Hey everyone, I’m currently studying Computer Engineering, and lately I’ve been questioning whether I should switch to Electrical Engineering.

I keep hearing people talk about unemployment and how difficult it is to find a job after graduation, and honestly, it’s starting to worry me. I don’t want to spend years studying, graduate with a degree, and then struggle to find a job.

For those of you who are already working as engineers or have graduated, how has your experience been? Would you recommend staying in Computer Engineering or switching to Electrical Engineering?

If I do stay in Computer Engineering, what should I start doing now to improve my chances of getting a job after graduation? Are there specific fields I should look into, skills I should learn, or projects I should work on?

One thing I struggle with is that college doesn’t really teach you much about the different career paths available or how to prepare for them, so I honestly don’t know where to start or what I should be looking into.

I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from people who have experience in either field. I’m trying to make a decision based on actual career opportunities and experience rather than just what I hear online.

"Toxic" course combinations

I recall being told by my advisor at orientation that there were some toxic courses combinations that should be avoided, something to do with not taking thermo with a certain class/classes. Is it not recommended to take thermo with dynamics, or thermo with solid mechanics? I have an appointment to see my advisor but it's in two weeks so I figured I'd ask here.

Scholarship help

Hey guys! I am a freshman engineering major and honestly worried. I’m in calc 1 and scored 30 on my first exam. I changed my study habits and started studying daily up to multiple hours a day. I understand the material better but still make algebraic mistakes and suck at trig functions. I just took my second exam and am awaiting on my score.

I am worried about my bright futures… I don’t know what to do… should I drop calc 1 if I feel like I’m going to fail it- but then there’s also Chem and I study so much for calc I lose sight of studying for chem. Does anyone have any advice or tips?

Mechanical Thermodynamics Professor options (Deng vs. Nader)

For spring, the only two options are Deng and Nader. Deng is filling up quickly. I'd love to hear honest opinions on Marino Nader because it is looking like the professor I will need to select. Anyone???

Computer Feeling lost

Hey everyone, I’m pretty lost right now and could use some advice.

Before transferring to UCF, I spent time at Valencia, but I didn’t finish my AA or all the courses I was supposed to take before transferring. So now I’m at UCF and I feel like I’m behind.

I keep hearing people talk about internships, projects, experience, resumes, etc., and honestly I don’t really know where to start. I haven’t worked before, I don’t have any engineering experience or projects, and I’m already struggling with my classes.

I’m trying to understand how people manage classes while also finding internships, working on projects, and building experience.

If anyone could give me some advice on what I should focus on right now or where I should start, I’d really appreciate it.

Projects

Hey, guys, I feel like everyone around me is working on some project, and I still haven't learned about linear circuits or anything like that. I'm a sophomore and worried about being behind in experience. Is it normal to not really be in any clubs my sophomore year?

Debating on taking

EGN 3310 Statics

EGN 3613 Eng Econ

ENV 3001 Online (ENV ENG)

MAP 2302 (DiffEq) - Wasn't going to take this one but now I'm debating on it because I found out the teacher has good rmp reviews

PHY 2049 (Physics 2) Lecture and Lab

They're all on the same two days (M/W) and there aren't any huge gaps between them.

I was originally going to take everything except MAP 2302 since I needed the full-time credits for financial aid, and Physics 2 met those requirements. I'm wondering how anyone's experience was taking Statics and if they took any other challenging courses like DiffEq/Physics 2 with it, and how the workload was. I would say my work ethic is very good, but I also don't want to burn myself out. Plus, I want to keep my good grades lol. I know that Statics takes a lot of time and especially since I'm taking Zaurin.

I'm trying to figure out which would be easier if Statics with Physics 2 or Statics with DiffEq. Or if anyone has done both with Statics.
