Community Event Channel Feedback Thread

READ THE POST GUIDELINES BEFORE POSTING.

Monthly Community Feedback thread.

Feel free to post a screenshot and link to your page for review of your stream. Please also review as many others as you can so that everyone gets some much desired feedback!

**Here's how it works:**

In giving thoughtful detailed advice for other streamers, observe their channel as both a viewer and a fellow streamer. **Once you have posted your reviews to other people** , post a direct reply to this thread (so it's not embedded in other reply strings), **post your channel link, a link to a Clip, and a screenshot of your overlay** and wait for your feedback. **No low effort posts or replies; posts and replies must be at least 250 characters.**

Consider and give comments on aspects such as:

* how your peers brand themselves overall

* overlay layout/webcam placement and sizing

* layout of their info area

* how they handle chat interaction (look at their VOD if they are not live when you review them)

* video quality

* audio quality

* the games they choose

* features they have or perhaps lack that you think would be useful for them anything else you can think of

There are a few caveats. First - this is going to be an honest review of what you are currently offering as your stream. Be honest, be open, and be respectful. It might be negative and it might be positive. Understand you are asking for the truth; flattery might feel nice, but it will not help you grow.

That said, you might have a clear vision for a certain aspect that perhaps someone else does not see - just because what you do doesn't appeal to some, if you like it, then take what they say with a grain of salt. Don't forget your own instincts or lose yourself in the views of others.

Also, we will remove posts of people who are clearly only looking to receive (those who post their channel for feedback but do not offer a real review of another) so please help this community. We are a network!

Based on community feedback, the mod team have decided to hold one of these threads on the second Friday of every month.

REMEMBER: Review OTHER streamers BEFORE asking others to review yours! Users failing to do this will have their comments REMOVED. Sort by 'NEW' to find the un-reviewed comments, there is no harm in reviewing someone's stream if they have been reviewed by someone else, but PLEASE REVIEW UN-REVIEWED STREAMS FIRST. The more feedback the better! We're all here to help each other!

Question Do you guys think streamers will sometimes be purposely "dumb" to boost chat interaction?

I'm talking about missing plain to see tutorials, pop-ups, and overall gaming "basics" which sometimes gets some chatters angry. Obviously I doubt the biggest streamers do this, but at the same time I've seen some of the biggest streamers have some negative IQ moments.

Discussion Streamers, what's something you worried about when you started that turned out not to matter at all?

I'm curious what we stress over as beginners that viewers either don't notice or genuinely don't care about. Could be your setup, awkward silences, viewer count, talking to yourself, making mistakes... anything.
And if you're still worrying about it, maybe someone here can reassure you.

Discussion Nyybeats on Twitch: Where is the line between discussing prescription drugs and normalizing risky behavior?

• Upvotes

I’m curious what other Twitch viewers think about streamers discussing prescription stimulants, benzodiazepines, and alcohol with their audiences.
One creator who has raised this concern for me is Nyybeats.
I’m particularly interested in discussions involving medications such as Adderall, Vyvanse, and Xanax, especially when alcohol consumption or taking medications late at night becomes part of the conversation.
There’s an important difference between openly discussing legitimate medical treatment and presenting potentially dangerous combinations of substances in a casual or entertaining way.
My concern is the message this could send to younger or impressionable viewers. Combining alcohol with benzodiazepines can be dangerous, and prescription stimulants also carry risks when misused.
I’m not claiming to know anyone’s private medical circumstances or suggesting that taking prescribed medication constitutes substance abuse.
But I do think creators with large platforms should consider how their public statements might influence their audiences.
Should Twitch have clearer expectations for how influential streamers discuss potentially dangerous medication and alcohol combinations? And at what point does casual discussion risk normalizing unsafe behavior?

Question Advice when viewer calls out quiet stream

Just curious if yall have had this:

I have a number of regulars, with one in particular who comes to every single stream. Occasionally, people wont be there/are busy/whatever and it'll just be me and him or us and one other person.

I never address this because people are busy, im used to streaming to no one, and frankly streamers arent owed their audiences time. Im happy when pple come but it doesnt bother me if its quieter :)

HOWEVER, every time this happens this one regular will say things liie "where is everyone?" Or "whats going on its so quiet? No one came today? :')" or "its lonely in here, this feels awkward" etc etc

The first few times I laughed it off and explained my feelings on it and said not to worry about it. I also explained i dont like calling out if people are lurking, or pointing this out cuz it feels like complaining about being owed viewership, and i dont want that to be the vibe

He's always very understanding, and immediately stops, but then the next quiet stream does it again. I really feel banning is too extreme a reaction, is there any other advice if any of you have dealt with soemthng like this?

I dont like the stream feeling negative or complain-y, and it feels like theres not a good way to reapond to something like "where is everyone? :(" do i just ignore those messages completely?

THANKS!

Tech Support Android App and audio focus

I've been using the Twitch app on and off for years and for most of that time when other audio is triggered or when I use my voice keyboard, the audio will pause. But recently it stopped doing that. I haven't changed any settings or anything, and I don't know what's going on, but I'm hoping there's a way to fix this. Contacting Twitch has led to nothing

Tech Support Audio bugging/stream stuttering when using Lightstream Studio

Currently trying to stream from my PS5, don't have a rig that can handle a capture card at the moment. Stream seems fine if I'm just streaming from my PS5, but I wanted to use Lightstream Studio to have a little pngtuber. Unfortunately, every time I run into this stuttering problem.

https://www.twitch.tv/stigs938/clip/FreezingDullSwordSeemsGood-VIlt80Y69AG1qqcF

Anyone have any advice? Tried setting up port forwarding, making sure I'm using the best DNS addresses available, and matching my stream output from my PS5 (720p 30fps) to what Lightstream is set to.

Question Is there a way to disable my sub button??

I want to preface this by saying I'm not asking because I don't feel that I deserve support or any self depreciating notion of the sort.

I am not an affiliate, and I have no desire to be a full time streamer, I stream because I want to have a community. I will never apply for affiliate because I don't want to run ads on my channel. As you all probably know, because I'm not an affiliate, money from subscriptions doesn't actually go to me. It goes into the twitch spendable balance that can only be used on twitch. I would much rather my viewers keep their money or use it to support streamers that actually want to do it as a career. I have no donation link and I have bits set a 10,000 minimum so people won't waste their money on bits for my channel, but I can't figure out how to get around subscriptions.

If there is no way to disable it, what can I do to discourage people from subscribing??

Question How to hide Chat on a twitch vod on the mobile app

Post image
1 Upvotes

I love watching vods but for some reason on mobile app, whenever I put the vod on landscape mode, the twitch chat just stays on the screen, covering 1/4th of the screen

I have tried double tapping, sliding the chat, etc - the chat box just doesn't go away, it completely ruins the viewing experience

Is there any way to hide Chat while watching vods?

Question How to handle viewers seeing you as more then just a streamer?

**Final Edit - I have messaged them, put the boundary in place and of they continue they will be banned. Thank you for all your replies. Hopefully, this can help someone in a similar situation ❤️

*edit - added missing text *edit again for clarification - I only played with this viewer off stream and alone for maybe like 10 hours all up in the span of like 4 months. I played in a group vc, when everyone would leave I would try and leave and they would guilt me into staying. Then I'd spend that time looking for an out. Try not to assume shit from this post, holy moly 🤣

& thank you to those that actually had something constructive to say, whether it be positive or negative.

To preface this, I am a small streamer (roughly 400 followers, views range from 5-10ish viewers per stream) who has a tough time setting boundaries due to my people pleasing tendencies.

This is an issue I'm aware of and one I'm actively trying to work on.

Now, I have a few viewers who consider me "close friends" because I played games with them. Sometimes for hours, on and off stream.

I do not consider them close friends, however one in particular has taken it too far.

Firstly they got a tattoo of my vtuber, which I consented to, they have many vtuber tattoos. The first time they asked was like 2 weeks into meeting me and I said "we'll see in if you're still following me in a few months"

I caved at 8 months. They paid for me to draw a commission and they got it done.

I was feeling uncomfortable before this though and that's on me. The behaviours they displayed were only when we were alone so I stopped being alone with them, and they kept saying how much the community has done for them, how much it means to them to have a space where they can be themselves and have made friends.

And I love that for them.

So I distanced myself when I started to feel off. Minimal interaction on stream, no messaging, no vc. I thought it would have stopped, they would have moved on. They even got a partner so I was fully convinced this was it.

It wasn't, they paid for a server on a game fpr the community (which is lovely, I couldn't afford it so it was really nice of them to do)

But they asked for a call and their partner would be there, I thought " well they won't be weird now surely"

I was wrong.

They tried to pressure me into consistent contact, calls every other week.

Their partner told me they they'd told them how close we are, how much I ""saved them""

I said don't put me on a pedestal, I've done nothing special etc

Every comment I just engaged minimally or changed the subject.

That was the last time I was in call with them (roughly 2 months) before I joined the server vc a few days ago.

There was 4 other people in there, again I assumed it wouldn't be weird. It was. Constant uncomfortable comments, questions, implications. Nothing crazy but it was literally constant. They never used to do this infront of others when we first played together, it was only when we were alone. So I just stopped being alone with them.

But they keep calling me "their good friend" saying that they "don't know what they'd do if the friendship fell apart" Saying they want to come visit me in my state. Implying that they have told more things to me then they do to their own partner, TO THEIR OWN PARTNER (in the group call) We did not talk on call THAT much, it wasn't anything to me. Yes I told them some personal things but nothing I wouldn't say on stream because I'm silly like that. Nothing that would even indicate that we are close.

I don't feel okay about kicking them, they have made so many friends in the community and they're not like this with others - otherwise I would have kicked them by now. They literally have a tattoo of me vtuber and they've been around for almost a year now.

This is not the only viewer that has crossed lines either. I'm unsure if it's my personality (the people pleasing) or what it is. I don't like conflict so I tend to say what I feel I need to in the moment and not follow through later because it's easier for me this way. But what do I do? Do I make a new rule regarding this? Do I send out an annoying? They will 1000% feel targeted and even through all of this I don't want them to feel bad...

Thank you for reading, I'm ready for positive and negative feedback o7

Question What should I do if I get a key and it can’t fit my schedule?

I feel SO bad because just a few weeks ago I got a key from another developer and planned to play it next week. Now I got two from another dev, but I don’t know if I can fit it in my schedule for next week, even if their demo shows up in the recent Steam fest. I do have two games “close” to finishing, but I think I won’t be able to finish them right away and I planned to try to finish them before October ends.

Luckily I write game reviews so I could do that. I could also talk about the game on my socials. But I feel guilty since it seems like such a cool game (it’s a series), but I might have to delay playing it on stream until the first week of November. Maybe it’s fine, but again, I just feel a bit guilty. Is it alright to just delay streaming the game a bit?

Question Is there any way to download hidden Twitch VODs and their chat logs?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone!
I’m trying to find and download some Twitch VODs that have been hidden and are no longer publicly accessible, along with their corresponding chat logs.
I’ve tried looking for different tools and methods, but I haven’t been able to figure out how to retrieve them.
I was wondering if anyone knows whether it’s possible to access hidden VODs or recover their chat logs, especially if I know the approximate dates of the streams.
I’m mainly looking for:
The original VODs, preferably in their full length and original quality.
The corresponding Twitch chat replays or chat logs.
Any tools or methods that might help locate them using the stream dates.
I’ve seen people mention that they’ve managed to save Twitch VODs that were no longer publicly available, so I’m wondering if there’s a method I haven’t come across yet.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Question Unstable connection using Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting?

I ran speed test and the test is normal. No high ping, no dropped bandwidth. The ping in multiplayer game I play while on stream also just fine. So why only the live stream is not stable?

Problem like this happen more often after I started multicasting with Aitum OBS plugin. I never had this problem back when I just stream to YouTube.

Question Wave Link Alternatives for OS 10?

Are there ANY (decent) free programs that are a good alternative compared to Wave Link that can be used on OS10?

Context:

So I am running into an issue where I HAVE to have my desktop audio unmuted as viewers are unable to hear audio effects when they redeem a feature on my stream. However, I am unable to separate the noise in OBS. I know I can separate game sounds but have not figured out how to separate the alerts themselves.

The other issue is I have personal sound alerts to notify me "HEY dingus you got someone talking to you in chat." or they may hear my discord notifications.

I had a fellow streamer recommend me the Elegato Wavelink program, the problem is I use Windows 10 as I refuse to convert to OS 11. The earliest iteraiton is Wavelink 1.11 but it requires compatible accessories which I do not own any Elagato hardware.

Any recommendations?

Question New Ads??

I recently started watching Twitch on desktop and I noticed that these types of ads play every 5 mins or so, alongside the usual 1-3 minute long ad breaks streamers have. Is this new? If not, has anyone experienced anything similar? I dont mind the usual ad breaks, but these ads are genuinely annoying.

Tech Support Twitch ads breaking through adblockers since 2019 is causing system wide GPU rendering issues!

After 7 years of dealing with this issue, I think I've finally caught what's causing a problem that's been driving me absolutely insane.

For years, I've experienced random blurry text, color fringing, ghosting, and rendering issues across my entire computer. I've gone through multiple PCs, NVIDIA drivers, Windows settings, and countless troubleshooting attempts trying to figure out what was happening.

Yesterday, I finally caught it in real time.

I had Twitch running in a second browser tab with an ad-blocking script enabled. An ad managed to break through the blocker, causing an abrupt transition in the video stream's quality. At that exact moment, the text across my entire computer became blurry.

Not just Twitch. Not just Chrome or Brave. My entire Windows desktop.

Even screenshots captured the blurriness, and the issue persisted after closing Twitch. Restarting Windows doesn't reliably fix it, but completely shutting down my computer usually does.

I'm currently running an RTX 4080 Super with two monitors at different refresh rates, but I've experienced similar problems across multiple computers over the years. Global FXAA is disabled, so this doesn't appear to be a simple antialiasing setting.

My theory is that the abrupt transition between Twitch's normal video stream and its lower quality advertisement stream is triggering a bug in Chromium's hardware accelerated video pipeline. This involves NVIDIA drivers, DirectComposition, Windows Desktop Window Manager, and Multi-Plane Overlay (MPO).

Something during that transition appears to be leaving the rendering pipeline in a corrupted state, affecting applications outside the browser itself.

I'm not claiming this physically damages the GPU or motherboard. But the abnormalities with hwinfo64 indicated that with high power states. What concerns me is that a browser video transition appears capable of triggering persistent, system wide display corruption that can survive a Windows restart.

After years of troubleshooting, 4 computers, actually witnessing the moment this happened was a huge discovery for me.

Has anyone else experienced blurry Windows text, color fringing, ghosting, or persistent display corruption after Twitch ads interrupt a stream, especially when using ad blockers?

I'm particularly interested in hearing from other NVIDIA users running Chromium based browsers and multiple monitors with a high end gpu. 7800x3d/4800s/32gb/2tb6000mhz. The only partial fix has been a complete computer shut off or DDU with new drivers.

Question How to Handle Parasocial Viewers?

I hope this is the right place for this! If not, I’m sorry and would appreciate being pointed in the right direction! This also is a long read! To summarize: my question is how to deal with parasocial viewers that you originally met off-stream. And how to set boundaries with parasocial viewers in general that doesn’t just kick them from the stream or make them feel like they shouldn’t come back?

I am a smaller streamer, and I have been having an issue with a viewer. What makes this more complicated is that I technically met him off stream. I talked with him once in vc in (try not to judge) the r/ leagueoflegends discord. After that, he decided to start chatting to me in discord dms (my dms are open on that server so I can quickly report people. The bot requires your dms to be open during the report). During that time, I was actually on hiatus and hadn’t streamed in months. My twitch is linked to my discord, so I guess he ended up checking out my twitch. Which is great! That’s why it’s there! No issues with that. He started spam watching all of my old clips on repeat. Which is great! More views!
I thought it a bit weird that he was then going to my dms to spam me with names of my clips, asking me if I remember x thing happening (which. yes, I remember. I was there. I was the one who clipped it. He, however, was not.), and sending me screenshots of my twitch panels. All of this was a bit odd, but it was fine, I guess. I figured maybe he just had bad social skills? The first sign of parasocial stuff to me was when he made comments about wanting to buy the game and join me to basically stand there while I recreate my clips with my friend.

It got worse when he started also watching to see what vcs I join. And I know he’s doing that because he literally sent me a screenshot of my accounts being in a vc for all of 4 minutes. He would come to events I host, which is fine. He’s invited. But he would be private dming me instead of talking in the vcs to ask any questions, insisting I root for him/ his team, and jokingly threatening to spam-kill people I seem close with.

And then I started streaming again. I appreciate him supporting the stream. He has subbed to the stream, is there consistently. Still spam referencing my old clips, but it being on stream feels a bit better. But he also has dm’d me while I’m streaming to tell me how cute I sound. And dms me after stream to thank me for streaming and tell me how much he likes listening to the stream (I made a channel in my twitch discord for messages of support, but he just comes to my dms instead.) And most recently, he joined a voicechat I was in to ask me when I’m streaming next and then told me that he’s “looking forward to next stream. And the next one. And the next one. And the next one…” It was so uncomfortable. The way he said it was so unsettling.

He’s clearly ramped up. And it makes me uncomfortable. I’d like to talk to him about this. I want to set some boundaries. I appreciate him supporting the stream, but to me, he’s my viewer, my audience. We aren’t close. I’m happy he enjoys my content, and he’s more than welcome to continue watching and coming for viewer games. If I had met him on stream this wouldn’t have gotten to this point. He wouldn’t have been able to even dm me. The streamer/ viewer dynamic would be more clear. I’d really appreciate some input on how to approach this. I’m still really new and didn’t expect to be dealing with this so early into streaming.

Discussion I wish raiders were more considerate.

Sometimes they come right in the middle of a match or a game and distract the streamer and the flow of the game. I wish they would wait a moment for a break in the game instead of just barging in. Also too sometimes we are playing a game with just a modest and right amount of people and then their raid saturates the game too and makes it longer and more tiresome. THIS IS FROM A VIEWER POV not a streamer. I am talking as a viewer in a stream. If they are playing a 1 player game and I am just watching no big deal. But if they are playing viewers like Smash Bros, Jackbox etc its is very incosiderate.
