Regarding the use of slurs:
Users will now receive a temporary/permanent ban, based on use of slurs in posts or comments.
This also, very much includes the R slur. It has become re-popularized by folks on the left and right, but it has no impact whatsoever within the discourse, except to make disabled (and already marginalized people) feel less safe.
I also like to think we are smarter and have better options for pointing out the lack of intellect in our peer’s arguments. 💗

Autoban: Negative Karma Accounts
Our community has grown significantly — from 2,000 members two months ago to nearly 10,000 today. Most new members find us through the main NC sub, which has a well-known bot and troll problem. Keeping that kind of activity out of this community is a priority for us.
To that end, our automod will automatically ban accounts with low or negative karma scores. This includes karma from deleted comments, which is worth noting because bots and trolls frequently delete their comment history to hide activity patterns. Our scoring is informed by published bot detection research.
No automated system is perfect. If your account gets flagged incorrectly, send us a mod message and we'll reverse the ban promptly. This rule isn't about limiting speech — it's about giving our community the space to grow on its own terms, free from the noise that plagues larger subs.
As always, we want you to help shape what this community looks like. If you have thoughts on this rule, leave a comment below.

🌶️ Politics🌶️ 38% increase in voter turnout in Georgia on the first day of early voting. On Oct 15, we will see if NC can improve on that stat.
185,767 voted in person in Georgia on the first day of early voting. An increase of 51k on day one or 38%. Based on the fervor I am seeing locally and reading about across our state, I think NC will also experience a large turnout on the first day of early voting (Oct 15).

🌶️ Politics🌶️ NC Democratic Voters Rise to 2nd Place, Republican Voters Drop to 3rd
I think this belongs here since it really points to a more truthful or correct presentation of NC constituents political leaning. Granted that unaffiliated/independent can lean red or blue; it seems that many unaffiliated are actually skewed to progressive, or at least non-MAGA. I cross-posted this so that people realize that NC is not a hateful pit of MAGA supporters. In reality, though the state is heavily gerrymandered by GOP, the majority of today’s NC population leans the state to a solid light blue.

🌶️ Politics🌶️ North Carolina State Rep Ed Goodwin ……how DISGUSTING this is ……
What a bewildering interview. I am genuinely curious and concerned about the mental health of this state Representative. His answers are not only evasive and alarming, but frequently border on bewildering. He shows a badge rather than identifying himself! Wtf?
