Mod talk. Serious Mod Discussion regarding the current state of the sub and its future.

So, hi. I know it's been quite a while since the last mod talk, sorry. What is this about? Well, I've noticed quite a few people that have... Complained, about the current state of the subreddit. So I want to make a dedicated post about it. How do you feel about it? Be as honest as possible (without being rude, thanks).

A major thing that I've seen people lament, is the fact that there are a lot of game promotion, playtesters ask and alpha release and stuff like that, but not a lot of discussion post.

Here are a few things I want to address:

-I will never remove a post of a game, just because it's low quality, nor will I start to enforce a quality standard. I believe it to be wrong on more than a few points and I will NOT hear any discussion about it. I will remove posts if they're spammed, about Pokepath, use AI in a finished product/art/overwhelmingly or NSFW (this rules are a lot more up to debate and should be seen in a case by case scenario).

-There genuinely isn't much discussion to be had. If you have something to talk about, absolutely post about it, I myself comment often on discussions.

-A possible solution I've seen is limiting promotion to either a few days a week or to a megathread, but I believe that it'd just make the sub deadER than it already is. I could limit asking for playtesters to a weekly megathread and allow only finished games to post, but I don't know about that as well.

Any questions about ANYTHING? Ask with no problem or worry, so long as it's respectful I'll answer as soon as possible.

Any comment regarding the sub, my work as a mod, your feelings? Comment right away.

I think I'll keep the post pinned for a month or so, I know that many members are lurkers.

Demo/Alpha Showcase Playtesters wanted for my multiplayer Tower Defense/Offense game Weavemarch

It's a real-time TD where you build towers AND spawners that automatically send armies to the enemy base. You can claim territories to build forward defenses and summon bosses to send at the enemy.

Notable features:

  • No unit micromanagement
  • Lots of counter-play, all units have strengths and weaknesses to strategize around.
  • Supports singleplayer, multiplayer, co-op, and pvp. Lan or online.
  • I will be making single-player campaigns
  • Summonable Bosses
  • 5 factions with distinctly different playstyles

I'll be inviting testers in via Steam soon. I also have a Discord for feedback. I really want development to be informed by actual players.

Initial impressions and thoughts?

Discussion Tower defense like wintermaul?

Hey guys.

I was just wondering if there exists a tower defense that is similar to wintermaul tower defense from warcraft 3 with different races/tower types to choose from that also includes mazing?

This is all I want in a tower defense right now.

Demo/Alpha Showcase We built a tower defense where you duel a real opponent against the same waves in real time. Open beta on TestFlight — feedback wanted

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi r/TowerDefense, we’ve been building One Million, a tower defense game with a competitive core. It’s in open beta on iOS and we’d rather hear what you think now than keep polishing in the dark.

Live 1v1 PvP — the part we’re most curious about

  • You and your opponent get the same board, same seed, same waves, side by side in real time.
  • Build your defense, merge your heroes, survive the boss skills — whoever’s tower is still standing wins. No RNG difference between the two sides; it’s purely about your decisions and your speed.
  • Elo rating and leagues from Bronze up to “Lord of the Million”.

The tower defense underneath

  • Classic lane TD: place heroes on platforms, hold the road, survive the waves.
  • Merge-style army: duplicate cards level up, raise stars and merge tiers; 40+ heroes with their own skills and element combos.
  • 3,000-level story campaign with gate bosses every 33/66/100 levels, plus a daily endless board with its own leaderboard.
  • Every brick you win feeds one shared world tower — when it reaches a new floor, new regions and bosses unlock for everyone.
  • Free. No ads.

Beta on TestFlight (iPhone): https://testflight.apple.com/join/K1r98QS3
Heroes, skills, story bosses, today’s endless map, leaderboards, PvP ladder: one.priente.com

It’s a beta: there are known issues and we have a roadmap. Fixes based on early feedback are already going out, and we’ll post a changelog in this thread as they ship.

What would help most

  • How does PvP feel — fair, readable, too fast, too slow?
  • Where did you get bored, stuck or confused in the first 15 minutes?
  • Is the merge/star system clear without the tutorial?

Reply here or use “Send Beta Feedback” in TestFlight — we read all of it. Thanks for giving it a shot.

Promotion We made a cozy TD roguelite where more land means more resources, and more ways in

Our first playable prototype of Anotherland Above is out!

It's a cozy tower defense roguelite where you expand a tiny floating island, gather resources, merge towers, make a maze, block enemy pathing, and try to survive each night.

Still early, so I’d love to know: what would you add, change, or completely break? Feedback is appreciated 💛🦆

Promotion I added a 1v1 Duel mode to my tower defense game where you ARE the tower

Hi! I'm a dev working on Florentum, a tower defense where you ARE the tower: you stand on top and aim every shot yourself while enemies come from both sides.

I just added a 1v1 Duel mode:

- Pick a commander (each boss brings its own soldiers and cards)

- Build a deck of Attack, Defence and Ability cards

- Plan your round, then both armies march and clash in the middle

- First to knock the other tower down twice wins

You can play it on one PC with a controller, against a bot (Easy/Normal/Hard) or with a Steam friend.

Solo and co-op also got relics after bosses and a next-wave preview so you can plan your upgrades.

I'd love feedback, especially on whether the Duel is readable at a glance!

Demo/Alpha Showcase Vorzain tower defense and action game. New demo.

hi everyone,

Demo update for Vorzain tower defense and action game is out now. You are the last defender on the wall. At night, you have to mix bow and barrels to destroy hordes of enemies. During the day, you can upgrade your weapons and tower defense, i.e. automatic crossbow mounted on the wall.

Dark fantasy and pixel art environment.

This update adds a clearer HUD (pixel icons), a pixel trail behind arrows, a harder barrel knockback, and sparks when enemies hit the wall. You can also repair the wall after Night 1.

The demo is still five nights. Beat them and you get a screen of what is coming in the full game.

I would love to know if that ending makes you want to keep going.

Thanks for playing, for any wishlist and for your support 🙏

We're a small indie team releasing a new mobile tower defense game!

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey everyone! We've been developing a new mobile tower defense game for the last 4 years, and we're finally set to launch this December.

If you like tower defense games or are looking for a new mobile game thats genuinely fun but takes real strategy to win at, then I'd say it's worth a look.

We have 80+ hand-drawn characters in over 25 hours of gameplay across 4 massive continents.

After buying the game, you own it out-right and there will be no ads or paywalls in the game.

It's called Lore of Terra, if you have any questions about the game fire away and we'll answer 🫡

We also have some snippets of gameplay on our IG (@loreofterra) if you want to check it out :)

Promotion We're two devs from a small city in Slovakia whose meeting turned our love for tower defense into a full-time passion project. So by Odin's beard - I present you with Hordeguard: Winds of the North!

We're Peter and David, a two-person studio working on Hordeguard: Winds of the North! The game started as a 3-month experiment and quickly turned into an ambitious Norse-inspired fantasy siege game that combines elements of base building, tower defense… and hands-on action!

The main premise of the design was taking a game like Thronefall - one of our all-time favorites - with its simple, addictive loop of building up a kingdom and defending, and adding new features that broaden the gameplay and deepen the experience… and a good dash of Norse mythology.

This is what Hordeguard is all about

You start in a small, underdeveloped base with resources all around you. Your job is to gather the resources and upgrade the base, build military structures, and prepare for upcoming enemy raids. After each successful defense, the timer starts, during which you should advance the base as much as you can to prepare for the next attack.

But this wouldn’t really be a Viking game without some raiding of your own, and that’s exactly what you can do at any time! Rally your warriors and delve into the great unknown (well, the area around the base filled with enemy camps), pillage, plunder, and show them who’s the boss…until their big bro comes knocking on your door the next wave.

During the raids, the timer is paused, meaning you can enjoy your fun time as much as you like before returning to the neverending loop of killing and repairing.

Hordeguard also supports singleplayer and couch co-op on a shared split screen or through Steam Remote Play Together.

We hosted a playtest this summer, and over 38,000 players joined - an amazing number of people whose feedback has already helped us more than I can express!

Where we are at the moment and future plans

As for the next playtest, while I can’t name a specific date yet - I can say that it’s coming before the end of 2026: with a third hero and a new biome among the additions we're working on!

You can sign up and wishlist Hordeguard here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3618000/Hordeguard_Winds_of_the_North/

Thanks for reading and we'd love to hear what you think about our game.

Demo/Alpha Showcase If you like building defensive walls and towers, I am looking for gamers willing to playtest my TBS game on Steam

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi, I am the developer of "Virtualord, The Virtual Conqueror" a Turn Based Strategy game with a strong attention to base/defense building and strategy.

In this playtest you will be playing a preview version of the upcoming demo, which basically it's the full thing, minus a few minor features and some stability fixes.

If you are willing to help testing at least the first mission (5-10 minutes) and submitting some feedback (Discord or online form) you can sign up on this Steam page.

If you prefer a more polished and stable experience you can wait until the 6th of November, when I will (hopefully) release the full demo.

Promotion Pathfront: Tower Defense ha superato i test chiusi ed è ora disponibile su Google Play!

Ciao a tutti!

Hey everyone!

A little while ago I posted here asking whether the name Shell Shower Defence made any sense. Turns out, you guys actually got the wordplay! 😄

Well, the game is now out, and I've just released a free playable demo.

It's a small roguelite tower defense without actual towers. Instead, you build your base on a 10×10 grid using randomly shaped buildings. Every run becomes a different puzzle, and once the robots arrive, your carefully planned military operation turns into complete chaos.

There are permanent upgrades, unlockable abilities, and robots that insult you. You can even collect those insults and spend them on upgrades. Yes, really.

The full game is $3, but the demo is completely free.

🎮 Give it a try: https://chertovskee.itch.io/shell-shower-defence

Hope you have fun with it!
