Is it normal my lines always look pressureless?

Hello, it's an issue I always had but I somehow only realized recently it may not be normal. Whatever the kind of tool I take for lineart, it always look ...like this
I use a wacom intuos pro and the pressure works well with other softwares like krita. Maybe i dont know how to configurate my pencils but I don't know why whatever I try to draw ends up with no pressure. Is this supposed to be normal or am I missing something?

Everytime I see a toon boom rig, it usually has smooth and circular edges for elbows and knees. But my artstyle is very sharp and pointy. I want to know how to make sharp joints like the image for a rig

Solved Is there a way to hide peg animation?

I'm working on some rough animation right now & want to use a mix of pegs & handdrawn animation. Is there a way to turn off the peg animation while I'm inking & coloring, then turn it back on when I'm done?

Solved White Keyframe Thing

I'm a total beginner in animating a puppet rig. I played with the animation in a bit, did the f5, and spammed f6 every time I made a keyframe with inbetweens. Then, I deleted the keyframes of the animation, and now, I'm left with this white keyframe thing that shows something that can be transformed before and after that keyframe. I'd really like to know how this showed up and what I can do to fix it.

Solved Body fronts flip when interpolating

I have two issues:

  1. Body fronts flip when interpolating: (see first video attached) When I interpolate between the two front views, the whole body flips instead of transitioning . One of the views is a mirrored copy of the other, since it’s part of the oter half mirrored of the turnaround.
  2. Mirrored pupil controller: The grid wizard for the pupils works correctly on one side of the character. On the other side (the mirrored front view from the turnaround), it still works but the movement is inverted.

Maybe these problems are connected... How do I fix it?

A special way to rig the head

Ive been learned tbh for about one year from China, sorry for the grammatical mistakes in my sentence.Currently,l came up with an idea using a unusual way to rig the head without using some traditional methods like deformation, curve, drawing substitution and master controller.ln short, what l do is l draw some different angels of the face like front,3Q and profile face placed in the 3D space so that l can use the master peg to rotate it in the 3D space.
The reason why l try to explore this way is when l learning to use traditional way to rig the head ,l found that is quite a big task for individual to make the animation, but also l dont want to use 3D Model character because l think it dont have the same expressive effects like 2D rigged characters,so l want to use that trick to make the coexist between the efficiency and effectiveness.

But obviously the effects is glichty and wired.
I'm a newbie in self-study tbh, so I have no knowledge about the industry. Therefore, I would like to ask the experts here if this method is feasible and practical, and if there are any tutorials available. And for self-learners, is this level of effect considered merely satisfactory, or does it reach the level of amateur-level head rotation and surface movement?
谢谢!(thank you!)

Question Need help how to solve this...

I’m very new to Toon Boom, and this is for our college exam. My character has buttons and lines that I forgot to separate while making it because I thought they were supposed to be part of the torso, but I was wrong. I didn’t know there was a Deformation tool, either.

When my professor checked my work, the buttons and lines followed the entire deformation, making the character look like it was breaking apart.

Can anyone guide me on how to separate them so they won’t follow the deformation? Also, where should I connect them? When I separate them, they don’t show up on the character anymore.

I really need urgent help! My professor doesn’t seem willing to teach me how to fix it. He just tells me to separate them without explaining how to do it properly. 😭

Here's the Node for the Torso for reference. Thank you in advance. I am really having a hard time and been following tutorials but most of their characters are simple and have no much lines on them.

Discussion Is there anything that can be done about Toon Boom’s current state?

From the removal of permanent lisences to the ridiculous price expansions, toon boom is becoming less accessible than it already was, and it really fucking sucks, because it’s easily the best animation program on the market, and to see it fall into the corporate greed every art program seems to just really hurts to see. I can’t think of an equal alternative to toon boom.

It’s just depressing and frustrating.
I mean, we could try to make our voices heard, but they’re not even owned by an animation based service anymore.

Cutter tool issue

Does anyone else have this problem? I used to be able to use the cutter tool to remove a line with a quick stroke. For days now every time I attempt this it just turns my stroke into a lasso no matter how straight or quickly I move my pen.

Question I chose the wrong color palette.

Hi! As the title says, I used the wrong color palette for the rough of a university animation project (there are still months to go, so it’s not urgent—yet). I really don't want to have to redraw every single frame, so I'm wondering if there's a way to move a color swatch (that's what I call the color boxes in the palettes) to the correct palette. Also, is it possible to transfer the drawings from one color swatch to another in a different palette? ...I hope that makes sense.

Made in Harmony Intro for Series

We got an intro for the series folks!

This one took a bit, so please check out their accounts on instagram but I wanted to thank the lovely composer Mike ( @coolcataudio ) for an incredible piece!

I also wanted to thank people who have helped with the intro/thesis. Hana (they do not have an instgram), Rebis ( @asabovesobelowstudios) , Kenya (@roseken33) , Rollito ( @lost_rollito), and Brady (@bradyritchie) with the additional animations used for it.

Lolo/Lee for the intro art as well as the ClintxBoone (Cloone) art (@scragg_lee)

This took a while to get it composed as well as animated. Anyways enjoy the introduction and we hope you stay tuned for the series. 🤠 👢

Pencil + brush strokes are this size no matter what I do?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey everyone I’m a first year animation student using toon boom. Last time I used it it worked fine, but now I’m running into this problem where no matter what size I change the maximum/minimum size of my pencil, it’ll show the size it should be until I stop pressing down, and then it reverts back to this size. Also when I use my brush it’ll create this weird outline (pictured below) I’ve spent like an hour trying to fix this so I’d appreciate any help!

Troubleshooting Can’t get Harmony 24 to open on my laptop

I’m doing an animation course at uni and I need to use Toon Boom Harmony 24 on my personal laptop for homework. I have the app downloaded but I can’t get it to actually open past the loading splash screen, it just crashes on me and sometimes it sits in the task manager for a little without the program actually running.

I’m not at home right now so I can’t get the exact specs for my laptop, but it’s a Lenovo Legion with Intel Core i9 and RTX 4070 (i think) graphics cards, 16GB RAM and 1TB total storage space (with about 120+ gigabytes of free space). I’ll put the actual specs when I get home. I bought it in mid to late 2024 so it’s about 2 years old if that helps.

I’ve been trying a bunch of things, I’ve uninstalled the app multiple times and one of the first things I tried was deleting the preference files, which was one of the solutions I found online, but it wouldn’t actually remake those files because the app wouldn’t launch.
I had to install the app on a virtual machine of windows 11 to get the pref files and the first time I opened the program there it actually worked and actually opened the program properly. Every time I opened the vm download after that, it only let me create a project and then crash without actually letting me into the main program.

I was wondering if it was because of apps running in the background or just apps I had installed so I deleted some of them and transferred some files onto a hard drive to make more space. I also tried changing graphics settings like the GPU, when I set it to Nvidia GPU in the Nvidia control panel, the display settings show it as a second ghost monitor and I’ve been seeing online that connected displays sometimes mess with Toon Boom. I actually have updated the drivers as well, so I don’t think that’s the problem.

I’m not sure what else to do or why this isn’t working. I just wanna do my uni work :/

Question 2D Rigging Tips?

hi reddit! currently a 2nd year multimedia arts college student using harmony for my animation course :)

we’ve been tasked to create a character turnaround + rigging this character, i just have some questions!

  1. what art/cartoon style is the easiest to rig? (ex: adventure time/rick and morty art style)

  2. how would i go about rigging a character that doesnt have any pivot points shown / a “blob” character / a character that has parts being covered? (ex: a character wearing a dress/ puffy sleeves)

  3. would using deformers for the whole rig be possible/ideal? which/what parts of the rig would be best for pivots and/or deformers?

  4. how does the hierarchy work if i wanted to connect the head composite/masterpeg to the neck/torso masterpeg/comp?

4.2. should the neck be grouped with the head or with the upperbody/torso?

sorry if these are a ton of questions! ive been trying to look for solutions around the internet and none have really given me the answer i’ve been looking for in my specific situation. thank you all in advance!
