We will post a weekly megathread for as long as she remains in the competition. Users can post comments/pictures/videos in the megathread that they would otherwise potentially want to share, but this way it's all contained in one post.
**PLEASE NOTE** any other posts about Jenna and DWTS will be deleted. The goal is to have ONE place where Rookie fans can discuss the show, perhaps any Rookie cast member appearances, or references, and of course discuss Jenna's progress in the show.
Week Six!

I havent seen season 8 yet and almost done with season 7. This season hooked me so much thay I literally binged 15 episodes in one sitting, in fact I even called in sick for work because I wanted to know if Bailey and Nolan were gonna make up, Chen and Tim were gonna get back, what happened to Monica, etc.
I swear to God the writer cooked up their writing! The first 9 episodes literally designed to have massive cliffhanger after each episode.
I haven't seen the last 3 episodes, so please no spoiler yet. Can we all agree that Seth's mistake during the Wildfire episode is kinda Grey's fault? I mean Seth is definitely at fault for throwing away his note and lie about it, but it was 100% an honest mistake which could be preventable if Grey assign someone to help him (Smitty literally has nothing to do).
I think Nakia Cox (Harper) is such an amazing actress, especially during The Kiss episode, I was super teary once she cries in front of her husband.
Also without major spoiler, Monica is definitely gonna die soon, isnt she?

I've only ever seen the first season of Rookie (and the Dropout episode). I saw a reel with the beginning of an episode with a victim named Riley Templeton. She dies in a car accident, but before she passes, she has a conversation with Nathan Fillion's character. I don't know what ep or season, but honestly, I just want to know if they ever showed any follow up with her family. She was so worried about the car and her son's popsicles.

I don’t really post on reddit or comment much but I like to check out episode and character discussions for shows I like, and I’m curious why it seems like this subreddit lowkey hates this show? 95% of the comments on everything seem to just rip into every little thing, as if no one wants to have fun watching the silly lil cop show.. Anyone here actually enjoy the content? I think it’s great in spite of its flaws..

I just watched 8x01 for the first time. I’m really not one of those people that genuinely hate Bailey with their whole heart like I’ve seen on this sub. Actually I think I like her (not love, but like). And I didn’t really have a problem with her being a firefighter AND an army reservist AND whatever else she is. People (that can multitask/ work multiple jobs) like her exist in real life.
BUT.
What is her business participating in a joint LAPD-FBI International operation in Europe or something. Let alone in the front line, as she was 3 meters away from Monica during the scene where she meets the antagonist, and later when they were protecting her from bad guys.
Like this makes no sense at all. I know, as I’ve been told this many times already, that The Rookie is one of those "unplug your brain and enjoy the show" type of shows as a lot of things don’t make sense (like why there are only 10 cops in LA that solve every single issue or why there’s only one hospital)… but come on, aren’t we pushing it a little bit too much?

In many of the scenes they are at station with no earbuds. Feels so weird as a cop to facetime in a room full of people.
I recall Angela facetiming Wesley about an idea she had on how to catch Elijah or Tim facetiming Miles to ask him if he got a place to move to. This seems so unrealistic for Tim.

Hi, I've not watched the Rookie and my family watch it and I've seen edits and they keep coming up. I literally just saw like some fan fiction thing where Lucy died and I literally felt emotion? I've never liked scary/suspenseful TV shows but it's not like I just won't watch it.
Or any other recommendations would be good, but I think I'll watch it next (currently watching young sheldon).
EDIT: thank you so much for all the replies, I think I'll definitely try watch it.

This guy shows up for half a second in the ‘previously on’ bit of S7 E10 but I have no idea who he is and also there’s something off or uncanny about him but I can’t describe what it is, maybe it’s the uniform he’s wearing is different or that for some reason his left hand looks bigger than his right to me but i don’t understand who he is because I swear he wasn’t in this part of the episode that it is flashing back to

IIn s7e18, I wonder what Nolan would feel (and us watching as well 😆) if Oscar was singing Daddy Cop?

Idk what's scarier: Harper or Tim's evil eye
(Gifs are from Season 8, Episode 5)

I am doing a rewatch. I am hoping to be done by the time the next season starts.
Something hit me this morning as I was watching S1E16. Toward the end Nolan is talking with Grey about his first interaction with the Captain and Nolan has a smile on his face. It reminded me of something. I do not want sympathy, but maybe this can help someone grieving.
Shortly after my mom passed away unexpectedly I was laying in bed after I woke up and I thought about an interaction I had with my mom. We would go bowling and often when my mom would bring the ball back it would fly out of her hand back toward us. I started laughing. It was just funny thing that I had remembered.
Watching the interaction between Nolan and Grey reminded me of that. I know the show is not steeped in realism, but I related to the interaction as it was the first time I thought I would be okay after my mom's death. I felt that the show was showing that Nolan was going to be okay.
I know that the show is not always steeped in realism, but there are times are the show makes the characters relatable.

English is not my first language and cop jargon is even worse but im wondering, the person that is like the responder of their radio messages. When they contact the people on the radio when an ambulance is needed or back up or something. I feel like it’s the same person every time, a woman. the only answer i get from google is Nell but it’s not nell. I would think this person is part of the cast but i don’t see anyone named. Does anyone know?

Currently watching 7x15. Lately i’ve slowed down my discovery of the show watching only 2-3 episodes a week so when I do watch it I’d like to have a good time. But those documentary episodes are really insufferable.

I’m in the middle of the episode but absolutely cackling at how quickly bitch ass Doug turned tail and begged Jackson to not report him because of his “wife and 2 kids.” Bro has been trying to play macho all season and was literally about to jump some guys on the street to prove a point but gets scared about his job security. I keep hearing B99 Holt’s “vindication!!” in my head and I was SO happy when Jackson finally got to tell him off, still worried about him though…
Also as a side note, I’m really glad the show is finally tackling police brutality and racism (this season was 2020 right?). I did feel like some of Doug’s moments were a touch over the top. There were a lot of impactful moments that were very real and sadly quite accurate to the current state of policing but there were a couple times where he was just so obtusely evil that it felt a little exaggerated and kinda dishonest to people’s real experience of police racism (i.e. this stuff isn’t bad enough alone so we have to make Doug be wildly vicious). Is that just me? Curious what your guys thoughts are on Doug and this arc as a whole
(But I’m only on S3E5 so if there’s more stuff beyond there I would greatly appreciate a spoiler tag!)

Watching season 6 for the first time and I just got done with the Ray Watkins storyline. I'm confused as to why Tim was saying it could jeopardize his career though.
I get lying on a federal document even just a normal document is wrong but I'm confused why it's considered lying when Tim and Mark both thought Ray was KIA.
Did I miss something that explains it?
r/TheRookie • u/Critical_Job4522 • 1d ago
What do you think of her and her role in the story? I actually find her quite interesting and cool, and I was glad that she remained in the series after the La Fierra.

Tim is a very controversial character. A majority of his trauma and issues come from the PTSD he suffered from the war and his painful divorce from ex wife who become a druggie. Yet is able to forgive his ex wife but not his father who had a good relationship with his sister.

At the end of season 1 she shoots the last guy who apparently had a gun that she claimed. Why wasn't this explored more? Nolan talked about it then didn't care about it anymore?
r/TheRookie • u/Apprehensive-Try-238 • 1d ago
Is it just me, or would this episode have been much better without that cliché storyline about a man who somehow managed to hack the entire hospital system for his wife?
I mean, Nolan witnessed a woman’s death. Later, he learns that she was an organ donor and that her organs would help other people. Stick to this story, focus on how John is experiencing this situation. Show us these people, tell us about their lives.
Yes, perhaps it’s a bit too much drama for this series, but that’s just the kind of episode it is.

So at the end of S7 E7 John apologises to Bailey for not siding with her about the text to hitman and the end of the episode to me feels like it’s supposed to be this happy moment where they’ve reconciled and can move forward but I just don’t see it like that because the show has consistently made the point that people or the police don’t get to ‘play god’ or serve their own form of justice and Nolan has been at the centre of this, e.g 5 episodes this before Celina talks a mother out of shooting a member of the gang who shot her daughter
So when Bailey, calls Malvaldo to assure him in finding Jason plus doesn’t call the police when she previously him at gunpoint leading to the deaths of Jason, his girlfriend and presumably others as Malvaldo got away it makes the fact that she doesn’t tell John about any of this and demands an apology seem like she’s putting herself above the law and in turn manipulating John into going against the whole ‘no one is above the law and no one gets to decide who lives or dies thing’ John believes in
Maybe I’m misunderstanding but I can’t see Bailey on same the side of the protagonists after that and I don’t understand how they can present her as such from this episode onwards?
r/TheRookie • u/Davo1603 • 3d ago
Why would Chen and Harper need doubles for driving up to a scene ?🤣🤣🤣
r/TheRookie • u/NoRevIndeed00 • 2d ago
So this is the episode where Aaron and Celina get shot in the alley. Long story short, one of the masked men who ambushed them later sneaks into Nolan and Bailey’s house.
Bailey gets attacked but manages to defend herself. Nolan initially can’t shoot because Bailey is in the way, which makes sense. But once Bailey pushes the guy into another room, Nolan has a clear shot. So what does he do? Instead of shooting, he grabs a hammer and gets into a hand-to-hand fight with the guy.
Not gonna lie, the choreography is pretty good, but WHY? You have a gun, the guy is an armed intruder who has already attacked you, and you finally have a clear shot. Why risk a physical fight? Nolan eventually shoots the guy in the shoulder in the next scene since he had a gun on his side picket the entire time. The writers clearly wanted a fight scene, but the decision-making makes absolutely no sense.
Then the LAPD arrives and questions the masked guy about who sent him. He simply asks for a lawyer and refuses to answer.
I'm not from the US, so maybe I'm missing something about how the legal system works there. But why can't they get him to reveal who ordered the attack? I mean, he pretty much gave up his right to remain silent the moment he decided to shoot someone, didn't he? And let's be real, the main characters have managed to get information out of suspects before, so why suddenly play by the book now?
Also can we talk about two black newly graduated from rookie male officers are shot around both of Lopez's pregnancies?
Edit: grammar fix on 5th paragraph, the previous version has a bit misleading word of choice usage.
