News & Announcement TerraMaster TerraSync Update: New File Sharing and On-Demand Sync for Mac Enable More Efficient File Collaboration

Hi everyone! ๐Ÿ‘‹

We've released a major update to TerraSync, introducing an all-in-one file-sharing feature and on-demand sync for the Mac version of TNAS PC. This update makes it easier for home users, content creators, and business teams to share files while reducing the amount of local storage occupied by large file libraries on Mac computers.

๐Ÿ“‚All-in-One File Sharing for Simplified Collaboration

TerraSync's new file-sharing feature allows users to share files directly from My Files or Team Folders, reducing the need for repeated downloads and file transfers.

Users can share files directly with specific users or groups, assigning permissions such as preview, view, or manage as needed. They can also grant access through two types of links: internal sharing links accessible only over the local network, and external sharing links created through TNAS.online. External sharing also supports configurable access permissions, passwords, and expiration dates, making file delivery and cross-team collaboration more secure and flexible.

Additionally, TerraSync supports integration with OnlineOffice, enabling users to collaboratively edit popular Office file formats online and track or restore file changes through version history. This feature requires installing the corresponding application from the NAS App Center.

๐Ÿ’ปOn-Demand Sync for Mac Frees Up Local Storage

With limited SSD capacity and growing collections of photos, videos, and project files, Mac users often struggle to keep large file libraries stored locally. The new on-demand sync feature removes the need to download an entire file library to a computer.

Once enabled, users can browse remote file directories locally and download files only when needed. Cached files can be cleared manually after use, and the system can also automatically reclaim cached storage when local storage space is running low. The feature works with either two-way sync or one-way download mode, helping users maintain convenient file access while managing local storage more efficiently.

๐Ÿ”„Sync, Backup, and Version Management in One Solution

TerraSync supports file synchronization across Windows, Mac, and Linux, with two-way sync, one-way upload, and one-way download modes, as well as automatic, manual, and scheduled backups. File version management supports up to 32 versions, with customizable cleanup rules.

For data security, TerraSync continues to provide SSL-encrypted data transmission, personal and team folder permissions, and activity logs to help users better manage and protect their data.

By bringing together file synchronization, backup, sharing, and version management, TerraSync continues to expand the file management capabilities of TerraMaster NAS, delivering a more flexible cross-device collaboration experience for individuals, creators, and business teams.

If you've tried the new features, we'd love to hear your feedback!

Help New version of TerraSync for Linux not connecting

I am not really asking for help, but it was the flair that fit better.

My wife has been having one issue after another with her laptop, so I gave her my spare, so I downloaded the TNAS for PC for Linux, same distro and everything as before, but it was a newer version of the app. When I tried to connect to my F8 SSD Plus to restore the sync from her older computer, it told me "Wrong version, update", but the app was up to date. I logged into TOS and saw a new version available (I had already upgraded to TOS7). I updated, tried again, and it gave me the same issue, even when both server and client were up to date.

I rigged into my own computer, and found the installer from August, so I installed the older client version, and it works, so, for now I found a fix, but I am worried to update and break stuff again.

Anyone has had the same issue?

Help Why folders made through ssh have different permissions than those made on tnas desktop?

I got F4-425, installed TOS 7. I've made pihole folders through ssh connection, and they don't appear in File Manager, but I can access them manually through typing Volume1/pihole. After checking the permissions in properties of pihole folder a window appears saying "You need permission to perform this action". Can I do something to make these folder appear in the File Manager + change permissions of that folder?

Discussion What would be your perfect TerraMaster Nas

With so many new nas models coming out from TerraMaster and others, are there certain specs you want on new models you are looking for? My ideal next nas would be a TerraMaster:

  • 6-8 Bay HDD unit
  • 3-6 M.2 SSD slots - ALL running at PCIe 4x4 minimum (PCIe Gen 5 would be even better)
  • Dual 10GbE Nics
  • One Thunderbolt 5 Port
  • One Thunderbolt 4 Port
  • OCulink 5x4 Port
  • Transcoding capable CPU (usually prefer Intel w/ integrated graphics but open to AMD)
  • DDR5 ECC non-soldered RAM (capable to be expanded to 96GB)
  • TOS 7 and TRAID
  • PCIe Expansion slot (PCIe 4x16 or higher would be ideal)
  • Exterior Shell color options (Silver, White, Gray of Black)

This would be a dream nas for me. How about you guys, what would you want if given a choice?

Help TNAS Mobile not working with TOS anymore ?

Hi, I used TNAS Mobile quite a lot on my home network to see where files where moving after using my *arr stack but last night I got a message saying my TNAS on TOS5 was using an older version not compatible ?

I bought this machine 1 year 1/2 ago, I don't want to risk having to setup everything again because the upgrade to 6 or 7 shits the bed.
