First of all, all the names mentioned in this story are fake. I really hope nobody thinks I’m crazy or anything haha.
Before I start, I want to clarify something. Because of my living situation, I only read tarot occasionally, usually when nobody else is home. I don’t really feel like my house is a “safe” space for this kind of thing, since my family doesn’t approve of it.
So, I (19F) went to Madrid with a group of girls I knew. There were five of us in total. Three of them already knew each other, while my friend and I barely knew them.
One evening during our stay, we were having dinner at our Airbnb, and just for fun, while we were gossiping, I offered to read the cards for one of the girls, whom I’ll call “Sofia.”
I always tell people not to take my readings too seriously. Personally, I’m not entirely confident in my abilities yet, since I still use a guide to help me to read the cards. As I mentioned, I don’t feel comfortable keeping anything related to witchcraft at home, so I don’t get to practice as much as I’d like.
That being said, I do trust my intuition. I’m just not particularly comfortable predicting the future or reading for people outside my social circle haha.
I don’t remember exactly how it happened, but at some point, another girl, whom I’ll call “Laura,” brought out her own tarot cards. I had no idea she was into tarot until that moment.
I don’t remember exactly what I told Sofia during her reading, but Laura eventually asked me to read for her as well. Unlike Sofia’s reading, which focused on a specific romantic situation, Laura’s was supposed to be a general reading.
And honestly, things felt different with Laura right from the beginning.
I have two type of cards: a Spanish playing card and a classic tarot with a metallic pink finish.
Normally, I REALLY don’t like other people touching my cards. But for some reason, no matter which cards I used, the cards just wouldn’t come out. I started getting frustrated, but something kept telling me that I needed to ask Laura to choose the cards herself.
I thought it was strange, but I didn’t pay much attention to it because, once she did, I was finally able to continue.
At some point, I started talking about a specific person: Laura’s romantic interest, whom I’ll call “Paula.”
During the reading, I began saying things about Paula that I couldn’t possibly have known. I’d never met her, knew absolutely nothing about her, and yet I was saying things that even Laura was shocked to hear.
Keep in mind that we’d only known these girls for a couple of months, so we had never really talked about our personal lives in that much detail.
And then I just kept pulling cards. One after another, after another.
I remember stopping occasionally and telling Laura that the reading seemed to be happening in different parts, almost like jumping between different situations, some that might happen in the future and others that had already happened.
I started receiving images, messages, colors, and incredibly specific references.
I don’t know how familiar you guys are with spirituality, but it genuinely felt like someone’s spirit guides were communicating with me.
I couldn’t tell whether they were Laura’s or Paula’s, but I kept receiving so much information.
At first, I thought I was just losing my mind (we had been drinking), but the things I was saying were way too specific.
I honestly can’t remember most of what I told them, and part of me feels like I wasn’t even the one speaking.
It was already pretty late, and for some reason, despite the fact that it was hot and we had the air conditioning on to keep the room comfortable, Laura suddenly started feeling extremely cold.
And I mean EXTREMELY cold. She was literally shivering.
Not long after that, Laura received a message from Paula saying that she was feeling incredibly, incredibly hot.
Meanwhile, I felt completely fine.
I continued the reading, occasionally pausing to explain what the cards were telling me. Laura and her two friends would discuss certain things and clarify details, which helped me make sense of what I was receiving and continue the reading.
At some point, I saw someone standing next to us.
It was an elderly Asian man with a long beard, wearing long white robes, possibly with some blue tones.
He wasn’t frightening at all.
He was smiling peacefully.
for me that was kinda weird as Fuck.
But something about me felt off.
I started saying strange things. At one point, I could feel so many emotions that didn’t seem to belong to me: sadness, anger, happiness, and all sorts of other feelings.
Then, one particular thought started overwhelming my mind:
“Someone is going to die.”
I couldn’t figure out exactly what it meant or who it was referring to.
And honestly, I was too scared to say it out loud. I didn’t want to frighten the girls even more, so I think I just kept it to myself.
But for some reason, I suddenly asked whether any of them were devotees of Santa Muerte.
None of them were.
I have no idea why I felt the need to ask that question, but I know it seemed extremely important at the time.
I think it might have been because I saw her, or something that resembled her. I’m not entirely sure.
What’s strange is that, ever since that night, things related to Santa Muerte have occasionally kept appearing in my life.
By that point, the other girls were pretty terrified.
And as for me, I felt completely out of it.
I was physically there, but at the same time, I wasn’t.
Eventually, Laura made me stop the reading and close it.
But I remember saying things like:
“He’s sad.”
“He’s angry.”
Or something along those lines. I genuinely can’t remember the exact words.
Honestly, they ended up giving me a pretty mild sleeping pill to help me fall asleep.
One of the last things I remember is staring strangely at Laura and telling her that she needed to get a spiritual cleansing.
The truth is, my memories of that night are extremely blurry.
From what I’ve gathered, my friends were genuinely frightened by what happened. I guess that, since they’re not particularly spiritual and I was probably saying some pretty weird things, the whole situation scared them.
I don’t know. It was all incredibly strange.
But the next morning, whatever that “thing” was, it didn’t feel like it had left.
And honestly, for the first time, I felt genuine fear.
I went to take a shower. There were only three of us left at the Airbnb at that moment, and one of the girls was still asleep, maybe I was scared because I felt like I was alone.
I knew that “thing” was still there.
I don’t know how to explain it, but I just KNEW.
It felt like it was right there beside me, watching me.
And for some reason, I was absolutely convinced that if I stayed alone, it was going to kill me.
I’m not someone who normally has thoughts like that out of nowhere, so it genuinely terrified me.
I got out of the shower as quickly as I possibly could.
All I remember is a shapeless black shadow.
That morning, we performed spiritual cleansings on ourselves and throughout the Airbnb.
After that, I tried not to think too much about what had happened, and for the most part, I just moved on.
But honestly, I still don’t understand what exactly happened that night.
Not long afterward, we found out that someone had supposedly performed witchcraft on Laura.
And shortly after she returned from Madrid, her little dog passed away.
I ended up connecting that overwhelming thought of “someone** is going to die”** to her dog.
May the little one rest in peace.
Other than that, I honestly don’t remember much else.
I don’t know. The whole experience was incredibly strange, and I still don’t really know what to make of it.
Actually , it didn’t leave me feeling uneasy or scared or anything like that. It was just weird.
I’d really love to hear your opinions or thoughts about what might have happened haha
