Samsung UN43M5300AF won't display an image

I have an older Samsung Smart TV from October of 2017, got it back when it first came out and it worked for a majority of its life, it has a stand by light and flashes when you try to turn on the tv, but it never displays an image at all.

This started happening recently and I'm not too sure how these TVs work, I mostly work on older CRT TVs and game consoles but I wanna try and fix this TV to give to a friend or family member.

Would anyone have any idea on how I can go about this? I would hate to have this TV end up in e-waste.

TCL 65C835 - thin dark line along the edge of the screen?

Now that this TV has some age its been annoying to me, earlier in the year i had the power supply board repaired due to blown capacitors that made a really unpleasant noise when the TV turned on, and changed the screen driver board under the suspicion that the original one could be bad, sometimes the TV would turn on and generate a very faint image, after both repairs the issues haven't happened again, however, recently I've noticed this thin line along the right edge of my screen, its particularly noticeable when the picture has vivid colors such as tones of red an purple, the way the line curves along the edge makes it look a frame of sorts.

Could i be looking at another faulty driver board, or this another issue entirely?

Anyone know what these spots on my tv are?

I noticed these spots today while watching tv. I thought it was just glare from the sun at first but noticed it was still there after drawing the curtains. The tv hasn’t been moved in a year, and I live alone so no one has touched it. Any idea what could have caused it? The line is lighter but the round spot changes depending on the angle. It has had some backlight bleed from day one, but this is in the middle of the screen with harsher edges. Thanks for the help
TV is a samsung Q60A

LG OLED 55BX no power after transport

Hi everyone,
I've moved and took my LG OLED 55BX in its original packaing with me.
It was standing upright all the time, I only laid it down for one minute while connecting it with the stand. Now it doesn't get any power, the red standby-LED is not shining.
I've tried different sockets, I also checked that the power-cabel is connected in the TV.
I transported it in a trailer. What could be the problem?

edit: we opend the back of the TV and can't see anything looking disconneted.

Sony Bravia XBR-65X930D - Solid White Light

Hello!

My Sony Bravia XBR-65X930D has stop working: The display doesn't turn on anymore. Initially, the stanby light would flash 7-8 times red before turning off. I managed to perform a factory reset (Power + Vol -). Now, when I turn it on, the white standby light stays on (solid white) for 12 seconds before turning off. During that time, I (sometime) get some audio, but not always.

Here's what I did: - Disconnected all devices from all ports. - Another factory reset (no change) - I have plugged the power bar and checked the voltage on different board connectors with a multimeter. - The powerbar works because I do obtain 24V on the DPS board. - The optical port red light lights up during that time as well (12 seconds) before turning off.

Any recommendations on what I could test next to troubleshoot and identify the faulty board (Motherboard, DPS or other)?

Thank you,

Samsung UE55KU6100 suddenly dims after turning on — is it repairable?

Hi everyone,
I have a Samsung UE55KU6100W TV. When I turn it on, the screen suddenly becomes very dim and stays that way.
Does anyone know what might be causing this? Is it something that can be repaired, or is the TV not worth fixing?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

A few more details:
The screen dims almost immediately after turning the TV on.
The screen stays dim instead of turning completely black.
Could this be a faulty LED backlight, power supply board, or something else?

"About This TV" pops up on its own, "Not available" on Source

Samsung smart TV UE49NU7100 has a software problem. A factory reset didn't fix it.

  1. The "About This TV" window (model code, serial number, Open Source Licence, QR Code, Close) pops up by itself and,

A voice reads the window text aloud,

4-digit PIN notifications appear in the top right corner,

These appears once the remote is in use.

With no remote batteries, this info window didn't show up.

  1. "Not available" appears on screen. With the remote's batteries out, selecting Source with the TV's own button also gives "Not available", even after unplugging the TV and plugging it back in.

I tested with no network connection and nothing plugged into HDMI or USB. Software version is latest.

Has anyone fixed this, or know about this?

LG LED LCD TV 42SL9000 won't turn on.

Hi,

So I've been struggling with this for a few days and I cannot seem to pinpoint the problem, mostly because I am a beginner in DIY electronics and repair. I'm wondering if someone could steer me along the right path to find the problem and/or give some tips about testing the connections on the boards.

  • TV is plugged in and switched on.
  • Power button burns red.
  • Neither the buttons on the side (including the power button) or the remote turns on the TV.
  • Holding the power button does nothing.
  • There is no backlight and the logo does not show up.
  • The screen stays completely black.

I've been looking around on how to test the connections and components so I can figure out which board and maybe even which component to replace. Unfortunately I'm having trouble figuring out the manuals and schematics. For example I've read to test the ST-BY 5V connection from the power board to the main board, but besides seeing the wires I have little to no clue.

This is the TV and the boards:

  • TV: LG 42SL9000.AEU (42SL9000ZAAEUVLJG)
  • Power board: EAY58470001
  • Main board: LD91L EAX61293601 090807
  • LED driver: KLS-420ELD 6917L-0020A

I got this TV from a colleague broken, and I don't need to buy a new one. I'm just interested in fixing it and learning from it. So if you have any sage advice to share I'll be glad to listen!

VIZIO 55-inch Mini LED Quantum [Model No.: VQM55C-1004]: bright patches at top of screen. Backlight bleed or screen separation?

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

I have a VIZIO 55-inch Mini LED Quantum TV with a white glow in a couple of spots along the top edge. It’s mainly noticeable during dark scenes or in the black bars when watching movies.

I’ve attached photos showing what I mean. There are some room reflections in the photos, but those top-edge patches are visible in person too.

I’ve already contacted Vizio customer service and sent them the pictures. They’re calling it “screen separation” and are considering a refund.

In contrast to the service rep, to me, it looks more like backlight bleed than separation, although I’m not sure. Since this is a Mini LED TV, I expected that to be a less common issue.

If Vizio approves the refund, my understanding is that they’ll have me dispose of the TV rather than return it. Before throwing it away, I’d like to see whether I can fix it. I haven’t opened it or attempted any physical repairs while the refund is still being considered.

Since it would otherwise be junked, I'm open to suggestions. Is there a realistic DIY fix? I’m wondering whether the issue could be caused by that portion of the screen being pressed in too far or whether it needs less pressure to allow it to move outward. Should I try gently pushing it in, or would using something like a credit card to pull it outward make more sense? I cannot find any documentation online about opening it up and fiddling around.

Vizio V555-G1 (LTCWYINV) Vertical Lines Repair

Afternoon Everyone,

(Hopefully links are allowed in posts, as I wanted to be as descriptive as possible)

I have an old Vizion V555-G1 (LCTWYINV Series) 55" TV that I bought a few years ago. About a week ago, the TV was turned on and a bunch of vertical lines appeared, along with an array of colors before the screen turned black. Audio was still working and the screen was still "on," just not showing any visual.

I went through and checked a few things online, followed some niche repair videos I found, and ended up checked for loose connectors, ribbon cables, and voltages on some of the key video points on the TCON board. I found that some of the voltages weren't correct (in comparison to the YT videos I was watching), so I ordered a new board which arrived today.

I installed the new board, turned it on and was greeted with the same "screen is visually on, but there is no picture" issue. I went back to the TCON board and unplugged the left ribbon cable (cable connecting TCON to the bottom video boards on the TV), and saw no change. Replugged the Left Ribbon Cable in and did the same with the right. When I unplugged the Right Ribbon Cable from the TCON board, I got some visual feedback, which can be seen here. This was at least progress, as the side associated with the unplugged cable was white, and the other side was actually showing the same form of lines from when the TV died a week ago.

So while I know the true answer to this is "just buy a new tv dummy," I feel like I am at least close to figuring out what the issue here is, and I would like to do so before I just scrap the TV(i am very stubborn). So if anyone has any advice or possible next steps, they would be greatly appreciated.

I am happy to answer any questions I can or provide any additional information as requested.

Panasonic ( TH-43D410K ) Red LED

My parents haven't used this Panasonic TH-43D410K TV for years because it won't turn on. Whenever they try to turn it on, the indicator light turns green briefly before changing to red and blinking continuously.

I want to try repairing the TV myself rather than replacing it, but I'm not sure what is causing the problem. Could anyone help me identify the components inside the TV that are most likely faulty and might need to be replaced?

New S90H. Only startup music on boot no picture/video

Bought a brand new S90H 65inch tv from Croma day before. Got it delivered last night.

In excitement, I Unboxed it and set it up myself. The moment I switched it on with the remote, I could only hear the startup music … no video/picture.

Followed all troubleshooting steps but no luck. I’m shit scared now, is the TV kaput? Should I have waited for the technician to install it?

LG OLED65C9PUA, manual, Repair remote?

Hi All-

I have an OLED 65C9 that has audio distortion on the following inputs.

All HDMI

Analog IN

RF In

Seems to be less distortion with I/P stream via WIFI on any streaming service.

Seems to be the worst from OTA broadcast.

I have the two speakers out and test each speaker on the right speaker amp. Both speakers sound the same (sonically). Did same comparison with both speaker on the left side, they sound equally as good. Though, distortion most prevalent on broadcast.

I need a manual so I could test power supply to main board. Or do any of you know of common issues with bad caps on power supply with these particular make and model OLEDS?

If I replace main board, can I do a service alignment with just my smart remote, or do I need to have

factory "Repair Remote" and service manual? I have meters and scopes to look at waveforms but I'm only guessing without a service manual and schematics.

Any help in the above is truly appreciated in advance. Thanks

Samsung 65" Class KS9800 Curved 4K SUHD TV UN65KS9800FXZA faded to black and won’t turn on

We were watching TV at my friend’s house and a few minutes into our show the tv faded to black from the top to bottom like if a curtain was falling and now the screen is just black. The audio was there for a bit but now it’s not there. We have power cycled a few times and verified the cord is not faulty.

LG LH5500 - Help needed

Hi,

Can someone please watch the video and tell me what’s going on with my LG TV? It’s switching back and forth like it’s stuck between two color modes and it’s got that weird shaded area towards the top. It switches like this every second or so and there’s nothing I can do.

I tried unplugging it for 5 minutes and holding down the power button, but that didn’t do anything.

And it’s not an HDMI issue. It affects the TV menu and every input.

I can’t find anything about this anywhere. Can someone help?

Samsung Frame TV Fault

Post image
3 Upvotes

My Samsung Frame TV 65" model QE65LS03DAUXXU, suddenly developed this fault which is most visible when the screen is white but always visible even when different colours and brightness levels are displayed. There is also a corresponding slightly dark area running top to bottom too but that is a little harder to see.

The tv is wall mounted where it is above a foot deep unit, so it would not be easily knocked in its current position, the screen exterior is unmarked and the bezel is undamaged, this appears to be inside the screen but behind the coloured pixel layer, if that is possible.

I'm in the U.K. and the screen was purchased for £1350 around 18 months ago, I called Samsung who ran video diagnostics where they confirmed they could see the fault however they informed me that this screen only has a 12 month warranty (I know I should have known better!!), they may replace or refund but they want to charge £179 to send out their engineer to confirm the fault, if its confirmed as a manufacturing fault then they will refund 80% value under the UK Consumer rights act, if not i'll be down £179

So I suppose i'm asking if this look like a manufacturing fault to you more informed redditors, despite it taking 18 months to show up and also if its worth me pursuing this matter as an out of warranty consumer rights claim.

I'd appreciate any advice or discussion.

Black line of death?

Samsung 85-Inch Class QLED 4K Q60D Series. A thin black line appeared a few days ago. Yesterday it became a very thick black line. I tried a Hard Power Reset. The thick line reverted back to a thin line. Then, this morning, the line had completely vanished and the screen is back to normal! I'm wondering if my unit is toast. I passed the 1 year warranty in July. Reseating or replacing the internal T-Con could be an option or maybe the TV had a miracle and fixed itself.

Toshiba 15DLV77 — Looking for Mainboard Firmware or a Way to Dump NAND In-Circuit

Thumbnail

I’m working on a Toshiba 15DLV77 LCD TV/DVD combo as a hardware restoration project. I’ve already investigated the mainboard and identified several of its components, but I’ve hit a wall trying to find the original mainboard firmware.
I’m hoping someone here might have experience with this model or similar older Toshiba televisions.
I’m looking for help with two things:

1. Finding the firmware
Does anyone have a firmware dump for the Toshiba 15DLV77’s main digital board, know where one might be available, or have documentation that could help me recover it?
I’m specifically interested in the mainboard firmware, not the separate DVD player’s firmware.

2. Reading the NAND without removing it
Is there a way to dump the NAND flash while it’s still soldered to the mainboard? I’d like to avoid desoldering it because I’m concerned about damaging the chip or lifting the PCB pads.
Could the NAND potentially be read using an appropriate programmer connected in-circuit, or is there a documented debug/programming interface that could help?
I’d be willing to buy an identical donor board if absolutely necessary, but replacement boards are expensive, so I’d like to exhaust the non-destructive options first.
If anyone has worked on this model, has a firmware dump, or knows a reliable way to read its NAND without removing it, I’d really appreciate the advice.
I can provide photographs of the board and chip markings, along with the service documentation and details of what I’ve already investigated.

2021 P65QX-H1 Failed Backligh

Title says it all, curious if anyone has found this repairable. I can see the pricture by shining a light at the screen so it's not the controller/cpu board. Research shows that it's likely the LED array having a failed LED.

I have a Hisense 65U7SG on the way to replace it, but hate the idea of it winding up in a landfill.
