LTT Labs has CT scanned Magnetic Connect plug for the Surface Laptop Ultra.

It confirms the charging cable is currently a 7-wire design, limited to USB-2.0 Data support. But the CT scan also shows the PCB inside the connector has unused solder pads for TX an RX pins required for high-speed data transmission.

This confirms Microsoft designed the connector with high-speed data in mind, which more than likely means we will see them release a Magnetic Connect Surface Dock and high-speed data cable at some time in the future.

Does anyone have a youtube video or instructions for upgrading the ssd drive in the Surface Ultra? I know how to do the ssd part, I just don't know how to take off the bottom cover. Are screws hidden under those rubber feet? Do the feed go back off if you take them off?

for the price of these...its a tough pill to swallow. maybe things will get better as software matures..but for all the hype nvidia gave...this...this is rough.

I cannot find clear information anywhere. But, is SSD 990 PRO NVMe M.2 4TB compatible with the laptop? I am hoping I can find 4TB on this laptop.

My keyboard suddenly stopped working, and my Surface no longer recognizes it. Do you have any recommendations? Are there any alternative keyboards that can charge the Pencil ?

I saw a video a while back showing the Surface Laptop running some sort of CAD software. However, I haven't seen any other videos regarding it. I am thinking of purchasing the base ultra for solidworks and maybe MATLAB as well. Is this a good idea, or should I look for other alternatives, since the hardware of this laptop is really appealing compared to other Windows laptops out there?

Just watching all of these "reviewers" do their CPU/Battery efficiency and seeing them butcher this. For example, just running a 4K YouTube video and claiming the MBP 16 has 2x the battery to seeing a non-ARM 2024 Cinebench test as the way to measure CPU efficiency is crazy talk. Anyway, Just Josh posted the most interesting graphs at the point that are giving us some meaningful data that shows things are actually relatively close. Good for a first gen product and a step up from anything Ryzen/Intel but not MBP level performance/wattage.

I have an 8GB/256GB X Plus that I still use for work, but I was within the return period for my 16GB/512GB personal device, and swapped it to the X2 24GB/512GB.

Haven't seen much review or fanfare on the device as it's been eclipsed by the Ultra.

The price is steep for what it is, but the form factor and size is my absolute favorite, and the screen/performance upgrades are worth it to me.

Does anyone have anything they want tested on the X2 Plus 12"?

The extra 100 nits for brightness make me want to upgrade my 1st gen that I use for work. It makes a lot of difference in bright/outdoor environments.

Apparently the Surface Laptop Ultra for Business has an anti reflective coating on the screen that is missing on the consumer version of the Laptop Ultra. Why that is IDK but it is confirmed on their website and on Windows Central livestream about it.

I'm seeing 128gb (64gb usable) in About this PC. Task manager only shows 64gb of ram.

I was able to final find a way to control fan speed of my Surface Pro 9 (Intel). I know not a lot of people want this but I am looking for testers to test this app. I will release a beta soon. Feedback or any feature requests appreciated.

Hi, so I've been scouring the internet a little for an answer and I can't really find anything... this is my last hope I guess.

I JUST opened my new 13" Surface laptop (1st edition Snapdragon Plus X, 16GB RAM, 512G), plugged it in and tried to turn it on only to be faced with the Microsoft logo for way longer that I should be. It's stuck on that, still & I've left it on the charger for some time now... I've turned it on and off again, unplugged it and held the power button down many times. I can usually troubleshoot a device pretty well on my own.

I really don't understand what's going on with it, especially being fresh out the box and over $1k... why isn't it working and how can I fix this ? This is supposed to be my laptop for nursing school and I was really looking forward to using it. I'm definitely disappointed.

I'm adding a photo of the sticker on the box it came in just in case anyone needs it for more information. Taking a second look at it makes me second guess if it's even genuine. Am I crazy ? I bought this off Amazon. 🫩

I have a surface studio 2 laptop and i have purchased a display module from microsoft for it. The first step in the repair is to download the surface diagnostic tools app and use that to put the laptop into a display repair mode. But the tool doesnt seem to support the version of windows on the laptop because it is erroring out. it is looking for a dll that i have but the one its looking for has an extra space and the letters API at the end of the filename. Ive been on chats with microsoft support and the best they can offer me is to take it to a local service provider stating that the SDT tool doesnt support my version of the OS. But if the SDT tool doesnt support the version OS I have then how is anyone going to get the laptop into repair mode?

What other options do i have?

Although this was a test of ASUS’s ProArt product, since it is based on the same hardware, we can make a rough assessment of the performance of the Surface Laptop Ultra, which will be released tomorrow. And the performance is so abysmally low that I'll spare any further comment.

On both Microsoft website (France) and Amazon France, Surface Laptop Ultra seems to be delayed to December.
