Im a young person fairly new to the world of supplements so im just curious to what everyone takes. I only take magnesium glycinate sometimes and psylium husk / metamucil if that counts.

Here is my situation: I basically have no money to eat properly in this month. I’ll be able to and prepare and ration a small amount of rice and 1 chicken breast for each day, untill i get my pay but that’s it. That’s about 25 days. I don’t know if that counts as starving.
I just remembered that I bought these multivitamine pills back a while ago.
It supposedly contains;
Vitamin A 1,600 µg (200%)
Vitamin B1 (thiamine) 2.2 mg (200%)
Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) 2.8 mg (200%)
Vitamin B3 (niacin) 32 mg (200%)
Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) 12 mg (200%)
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) 2.8 mg (200%)
Vitamin B12 5 µg (200%)
Folic acid (B9) 400 µg (200%)
Biotin (B7) 100 µg (200%)
Vitamin C 160 mg (200%)
Vitamin D3 10 µg (400 IU) (200%)
Vitamin E 24 mg (200%)
Vitamin K1 150 µg (200%)
Calcium 200 mg (25%)
Phosphorus 155 mg (22.1%)
Magnesium 100 mg (26.7%)
Iron 7 mg (50%)
Zinc 15 mg (150%)
Copper 1 mg (100%)
Manganese 2 mg (100%)
Selenium 55 µg (100%)
Chromium 40 µg (100%)
Iodine 100 µg (66.7%)
I guess 25 days is not much but I’m just kind of worried about damaging my body. Do you think these nutrients will prevent that?

I've never been a big fan of sardines, but mackerel is fairly inexpensive where I live, and it's so much better. I was surprised to find out that the Omega 3 content of mackerel is even higher than sardine. If you eat 100 grams of it, which is not a high amount, you are pretty much getting the same amount that many supplements. And it's not like you are spending extra money on it, we all need to eat food anyway. I've been eating fish at least 5 times weekly.

I’m looking to eat more in combination with strength training to gain some weight, however I can’t seem to stomach the 2700 calories per day I need. Is there any supplements I can take to help with this? (I already smoke marijuana super heavily, so this couldn’t be a solution for me)

I've always been curious about Ltheanine for sleep.
(I should add that I use a CPAP machine)
I have been getting the best sleep ever, and that includes taking prescribed meds, and benzos. Who knew?
100 mg of Ltheanine and 1/3rd mg of melatonin 😴

Which is more effective in your experience?

For two full years, I suffered from a clinically confirmed magnesium deficiency with relentless body-wide muscle twitching and constant eyelid spasms.
Like everyone else, I trusted the social media "health gurus" and internet doctors who demonize Magnesium Oxide as "useless chalk with 4% absorption." So I spent two years—and a small fortune—taking 600 mg of pure elemental magnesium daily (split into three 200 mg doses), rotating between the hyped forms: Bisglycinate, Malate, and Citrate.
The result after 2 years? Almost zero relief. My muscles kept twitching non-stop.
Out of sheer frustration, I switched to cheap Magnesium Oxide with a Depot (extended-release) effect (500 mg elemental Mg, twice a day). Within just 30 days, my eyelid spasms and muscle twitching vanished. Zero laxative effect, zero GI issues. What two years of "premium" supplements failed to do, Magnesium Oxide achieved in one month.
This experience completely changed how I view the supplement industry, and here is my theory on what’s really happening:
The "Glycine Illusion" in Bisglycinate: Why do so many people rave about Magnesium Bisglycinate helping them relax and sleep immediately? My theory is that they are feeling the amino acid Glycine, NOT the magnesium! Because Bisglycinate is only ~14% magnesium by weight, taking a 400 mg dose of elemental Mg means you are swallowing nearly 2,500–3,000 mg of pure Glycine. Glycine is an inhibitory neurotransmitter known to lower core body temperature and induce sleep. People think they are fixing their magnesium deficiency, when in reality, they're just taking an overpriced glycine sleep aid while their actual magnesium stores remain starved.
Fast Absorption = Fast Kidney Flushing: Organic forms absorb rapidly and cause a sudden spike of magnesium in the blood. The kidneys detect this sudden spike, assume there's an excess, and flush most of it into the urine before your slow-moving cellular channels can actually pull it inside the muscles.
Why Oxide + Depot Wins: Magnesium Oxide is a massive 60% elemental magnesium by weight. Because it dissolves slowly inside a Depot tablet, it acts like a 24-hour micro-infusion pump—trickling pure magnesium ions steadily into the bloodstream without triggering the kidneys to dump it.
I honestly regret wasting two years of my health and money listening to influencers who push 10x overpriced chelates for affiliate commissions while demonizing dirt-cheap Magnesium Oxide.
Has anyone else ditched the hyped forms for Magnesium Oxide and finally seen real results?

Did a deep dive on three popular buys and the gap between the label and the research was wild.
Verdicts: 1 and 2 are a waste of a training year, 3 is worth it. What would you add to the waste list?
FYI our subreddit has a lot more of these findings ;)

I was comparing a magnesium product and a curcumin product, both in 90-capsule bottles. The magnesium listed two capsules per serving; the curcumin listed three. That’s 45 servings in one bottle and 30 in the other.
Serving size looks like a small detail next to an interesting ingredient list. But that number tells you how much someone has to swallow, over and over.
Taking fewer capsules changes the deal, too. The ingredient amounts on the label are for the full serving. Liking those amounts and wanting to swallow that many capsules are two separate decisions.
Capsule count deserves as much attention as the ingredient list, in my view. It can be a reason to pass on a formula even when there’s nothing in the ingredients you object to.
Has capsule count ever made you give up on a supplement you otherwise liked? What was the point where it became too much?

I was at Vitamin Shoppe today as I ran out of protein powder and the brand I usually get is Bucked Up. The price is now $75.99 for their 2.5lb container instead of the usual $54.99 and it wasn't even on sale. I ended going with Ghost Coco Puffs, their 2.5lb container which was $54.99. Their 5lb container was $99.99 for their Cinnabon flavor. I get they're not Optimum Nutrition which is usually the cheap brand of fitness supplements but still.

Not all collagen sources are the same. Bovine collagen is generally associated with types I and III, while chicken collagen is known for type II. Fish collagen is another option, and eggshell membrane has its own mix of components.
For transparency, we're working with Ancient Nutrition on this post. Their Multi Collagen Protein combines bovine, chicken, fish, and fermented eggshell membrane collagen.
When comparing collagen supplements, what matters most to you: the source, the collagen types, or the overall formula?

I have been blitzed lately with advertisements for the Goli gummies. Their 3-pack targets different areas of nutrition and gut health. Of course they market these to help with things like bloating, cravings, slimming down etc. has anyone personally used these, and what were your results/takeaways. Thanks!

Gets the stack moving. Does not give me gas like others.
My heart meds give me severe constipation that resulted in a bleeding anal fissure from the edge of hell. This is what helped me return to normal bowel movements and heal.
u/Suspicious-Mention91 this is what works for me for constipation.
I have to take this TWICE per day. Not with a meal but with a snack is ok.

I’m wanting to try it bc I heard it can help with ocd, I’m also bipolar. So I’m kind of afraid to try it.

I’ve been struggling with constipation for quite some time, managing it with kiwis, dried prunes, and occasional mild laxatives, particularly when travelling.
However, I had abdominal surgery last month, and since then, my bowel movements have changed. My usual routine is no longer working, and I’ve already had one episode of fecal impaction that landed me in the ER. It was a horrible experience!
Folks, please suggest something that helps keep me regular without causing dependency. I’ve also lost my ability to strain (which I was apparently very good at before surgery! ). Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Note: Milk of Magnesia is not available where I am.

Did one or the other work better for you?
Can they be taken together or not?
I’m on several prescriptions for anxiety and depression but still suffering debilitating anxiety while my depression mostly contained.

- Waking up feeling extra disoriented ( I have to get up and remind myself who I am and where I am )
\- My name and memories hold no meaning to me
\- I feel blank in my body, and in my mind
\- Logically I know who I am and where I am, but nothing feels how it used to so I feel like I’m in a different dimension
\- My surroundings feel unfamiliar
\- Disconnected from family and friends
\- Felling like I’m watching myself from another room
\- Feels like I’m dreaming with my eyes open
\- Not remembering what “normal” felt like, because I wake up everyday and am disoriented from morning to night
\- Constant head pain
\- Constant head pressure
\- Jaw pain
\- My hearing goes in and out
\- My DPDR worsens when my head moves positions, and when I stand up and walk around
\- Ears constantly feel clogged
\- Almost like a tunnel vision issue ( my eyes can only focus on what I’m looking at, and then my surroundings blur out, almost like they don’t exist if I’m not directly looking at it )
\- Brain fog
\- Feeling like I’m not the one controlling my body
\- Living everyday extremely disconnected and on autopilot
\- Memory gaps ( an example is when I’m making dinner, I will make the entire meal, and then for a split second snap out of it and be confused on how I made the meal )
\- Head feels like it’s made of cotton
\- Only remembering what DPDR feels like, and not my past
\- Waking up exhausted, regardless of how much sleep I get
\- Emotionless/depressed
\- No motivation
- Eye floaters
- Light sensitivity, especially natural light
- I’m a stranger to my life and my surroundings

I started taking bulk supplements citrulline malate and see that 8 pills are 2000mg citrulline and 1000 malate for the daily dosage.Im reading a lot, I should be around 6000mg (6g) per day. Seams like the Bulk Supplements daily dosage of 8 pills is low. What's yalls thoughts on this?
Im 180# male 54yr old. Workout 4-5 days a week. I currently am taking the citrullinemalate, 500 mg ashwagandha and creatine about 30 min or more before my morning workout. Im thinking of taking 1-2 g of fenegreek and 2g of citrulline non malate late afternoon around 3-4.
