Connor certainly had a little bit more light in him than the other siblings. Why was that? His hobbies, maybe?
Ok, we can’t nominate the man for sainthood anytime soon. He’s still a spoiled billionaire man child. And very prone to moods.
But I think Connor just liked and enjoyed things. He liked American history and knows all about it. He really loved his Napoleon history and was genuinely excited about his French history podcast. He was a movie buff.
Shiv, Kendall and Roman…um.
If you ask about what the other hobbies the siblings had: Kendall and rap, is all I can think of. And Kendall got over that real quick.

"Life’s not knights on horseback. It’s a number on a piece of paper. It’s a fight for a knife in the mud."
It's just crazy that one the best dialogues in the show that carry weight, intensity and meaning belongs belongs to Logan Roy.

Tom’s body language in the last few mins of the last episode is fantastic
I just love it.

Katie Zacharia is Kerry Castellabate
Thought earlier that Katie Zacharia’s whirlwind rise and fall reminds me of when Kerry tests as a news anchor in Season 4 of Succession. Went to grab a photo of Kerry for a side by side and … it's the same image.

does the recent flying car launch by tesla seem similar to living+ pitch by ken
the ‘flying’ car seems like a product made just to be in the news or pump up the share price similar to how kendall portrayed living+

Was Tom Wambsgans the Real Winner of Succession?
Everyone spends the entire series arguing over which Roy sibling deserves to take over, but Tom might have played the smartest game of all.
He wasn’t born into the family, wasn’t the most powerful person in the room, and was constantly treated like a joke. Yet by the finale, he’s sitting in the CEO chair while the Roy siblings are left with nothing.
Do you think Tom genuinely outplayed everyone, or was he simply willing to sacrifice more of himself than anyone else?

Greg never asked for anything Spoiler
Just curious if I missed something or did Greg actually never ask Logan for anything after they met following Kendall’s betrayal? Greg did ultimately “blackmail” Tom with the cruise papers in order to leverage himself a raise, but that was entirely separate.

I don’t like how mean Roman is to Greg :(
My least fav dynamic out of any pair in the family

Lukas Matsson predicted Roman to be the one signing over the company
In S3E9 Lukas tells Logan “your son will be essential. The face of the operation.” in his lake house with Roman present.
And then in S4E10 Roman is the one signing it over the company with the press taking pictures, i.e. the “face of the operation.”
Cool little detail.

Kendall was never supposed to win, and I think that’s the entire point.
Kendall spent his entire life trying to become Logan instead of figuring out who he was without him.
The tragedy is that he could’ve had a good life outside Waystar, but he never wanted anything more than his father’s approval.
Was Kendall ever actually capable of being CEO, or was he always chasing a fantasy?

The detail in this show
Rewatching and in S3E2, when the siblings are talking in Sophie's room, there are selfies on the wall of Sophie with various celebrities. Looks like Billie Eilish and Harry Styles?? I just love the attention to detail that the show gets into, even to highlight how privileged Kendall's kids are (in the way real Hollywood/nepo babies are).

Kendall's last scene Spoiler
A lot of us know that in the final scene, Jeremy Strong improvised and walked right over to the Hudson and climbed over the barrier. The guy playing his bodyguard ran after him. The director didn't like it and stuck to the ending we see, his lost face, his utter emptiness, his life spreading out in front of him so different than he ever pictured. Do you think the suicide move could've worked? Should've worked?

I wanna take a Logan Roy Poll
A) Is he wholly invested in his own needs and wants and has zero regard for his children and when he does show affection it’s a tactic.
OR
B) A sometimes softy.
I go with A just because he’s never gentle when there’s no tactical advantage. Also, boar on the floor is the most psycho-culty-psychological domination shit i’ve ever seen lol

Logan's Will
Despite having recently re-watched S4 I'm still a bit confused by the Last Will and Testament situation. I know the Roy's have a totally different financial structure than most people, that a lot of their money is tied up in stocks, and investment funds and so on, but when it comes to property who did Marcia, for instance, so quickly inherit the Manhattan apt? What happened to the 20-something other properties Logan owned? Where did is liquid net worth end up going? Any ideas?

Kendall was the right successor (And why Logan ruined Waystar) Spoiler
Currently rewatching the episode from season 2 when they went to the Pierce Family home (top 5 episode btw).
And Kendal is the only one who is shown to have even the most remote level of competence. The dude was reading waystar business reports on his way there, and as soon as he landed Logan immediately relied on him to work some pierce people to join the deal. His talk with Naomi was also key in making the conversation in the morning after even happen. If not for that woman asking for Shiv to be the successor, which only happened because the latter floundered at the dinner table, it’s very much possible Logan would’ve gotten that news channel by season 3.
This is one just isolated example, but I guarantee there’s plenty more where the dude clearly knows ball. His problem ironically was always Logan, making him tense up on big decisions especially ones related to his father, but when there isn’t that history of gaslighting on his back, the guy is decently competent.
I’d say along with the old guard, Kendal and Tom are the only ones that consistently show ability outside of their one gimmick, while Shiv and Roman for instance have moments of greatness DESPITE their shortcomings. Still, there’s an argument to be made for them too, so really the crux of the “who could do it” debate is, anyone if Logan just shuts the fuck up.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk

Succession Survivor! (Season 1 Edition) Round 6
Austerlitz is eliminated! A little disappointing of a finish for me personally, I love this episode, both the family therapy and seeing Kendall fucked on drugs as he relapses were both highlights of the season. But no easy answers any longer!

Just finished my first watch
Holy fuck. When this show was out, I was balls deep in Better Call Saul so it went under my radar. Wow, what a masterpiece. The final season is amongst the best television I have ever seen. The ending was so unexpected but fit so well into the Roy family dynamic, which is essentially the lanestetrs. I still have The Sopranos as my favorite HBO show but this is definitely 2nd. What a fucking masterpiece.
