Any Feedback The Ledger (Working Title)
Meet Arthur Pennman, a mildly successful but bored to tears accountant. One day Arthur receives an inheritance from his supervillain late uncle. A volcanic skull island base off shore. Instead of seeing it as a majestic stronghold, Arthur realizes it's a financial liability.
He tries to flip the estate to a group of supervillains and realizes the cold hard truth: The criminal underworld is full of financially illiterate mad scientists, bankrupt dark lords and evil dictators facing foreclosure. Arthur tries to give them advice and the intimidating villains dismiss the scrawny pencil-pushing accountant.
Bills, property taxes and insurance premiums stack up on Arthur's inherited estate until two super powered debt collectors show up in the form of Loan Shark, an 8 foot tall mutant shark with extensive knowledge on high interest loans and asset requisition, also a love for knitting and cats. His partner, Nest Egg a ninja from the order of the white plumage. A ninja guild that worships poultry, as reflected in the feather accents and red swaddle scarf around his neck. Nest Egg also only speaks in clucks that everyone can understand and carry heavy insight into futures and long term investing. Instead of trying to kill Arthur, they give him some financial advice to buy some time. Arthur realizes Loan Shark and Nest Egg have the same problem: Supervillains don't take them seriously.
With stacking debts and the help of two unlikely henchmen turned business partners, they renovate the island into a convention center and resort. Its leased out for supervillain meet-and-greets, henchmen team building exercises, storm trooper marksmanship training and emotional intelligence seminars for ski-masked thugs.
Arthur dons a lavish neon red pin stripe, obsidian black suit gauntlets, discreet height increasing boots and a cimson royal cape, hooded cowl. Arthur modifies his uncle's old metal skull helmet into a HUD display that on sight pulls up supervillains credit scores, henchman glassdoor ratings, and hostage yelp reviews. The Ledger is born! Not a true supervillain with plans to take over the world. But a financial consultant for supervillains. The plan: Make supervillains financially stable enough so he can auction off the island and be finally done with the whole ordeal!
Along the way Arthur as The Ledger revels in his ruthless accounting and financial advice, using the help of a built in voice modulator that makes his cost cutting measures sound especially cold and dominating. Dismantling even the most violent heroes with federal audits and the scariest of criminal masterminds by showing them their plan to melt the polar ice caps is going to tank their 4th quarter or showing a Nazi dictator that he needs to diversify his bonds... and his workforce. Arthur even convinces Magnifique, a notorious shape shifting femme fatale assassin and domestic terrorist to give up her short sighted goals of overthrowing the government and use her genetic gifts to single-handedly monopolize the fashion industry. In return Magnifique is smitten by The Ledger's ruthless confidence and genius intellect. With new business partners, (Loan Shark and Nest Egg) a possible love interest (Magnifique) and a new exciting life in the underworld, Arthur begins pondering if he should keep the island and continue as The Ledger.
But not all is well as the FBI is closely monitoring the financial activities of the supervillains thinking there's an evil mastermind lurking in the shadows helping them raise money for something big...

The idea of The Ledger originated from my love of deconstructing superhero media. I grew up reading comic books at an early age, enamored with the superpower battles and fantastical stories.
As I grew the stories mostly stayed the same but I became more invested in the mundane off panel world building within the world of costume crime fighting. This is my attempt to make a genre more relatable for the "everyman" out there, breaking down supervillain and superhero work to office level spreadsheets and corporate branding. The Ledger has no powers aside from intense organizing and an entirely deadpan mindset towards villainy. He doesn't convince a Nazi villain to adopt DEI policies because it's the right thing to do, but to have a sustainable workforce and cut down on medical bills by not having to fight superheroes and sympathetic anti-villains at the same time. Or Nest Egg clucking to a pyromaniac supervillain that converting to a synthetic fuel source like ethanol will cut his emission costs exponentially and reduce his carbon footprint. Before clucking his futures investment idea for the villain to raise a corn farm for maximum self sustainability.
The great equalizer in this universe is a clean portfolio, henchmen retention and high hostage yelp ratings.
