I always end up doing more rotations that I need. I only want to play in a realistic way, just go full powder and do simple 360's. But the game kinda pushes my board always a bit more than I wish.
it's faisable of course, but it kinda goes against me for some reason.
Also, dev's went also a bit too "crazy" with the heights of the bumps. Most of the time, I'm jumping over some 10m high rocks with a 30 long fly in the air :D
Like many of you, I recently bought the game on Steam. Some thoughts after ~30 hours. I really enjoy the map and views, looking at them is really relaxing just as simple speeding down the mountain. I feel like a trick system is very poor and Ubisoft couldn't quite decide what exactly they want: arcade or simulation game. And this leads to the thing I just hate: and it's how random this game can be.
I sometimes feel like I'm not playing for 100%, especially while skiing at high speed. One small bump and bang: you get launched off the track or overjump a checkpoint and have to start over. My point is that instead of relying on some skill, you either have luck or not, especially when it comes to races. I've seen online that people struggled with Lumberjack - I managed to do it at 2nd attempt just because I was lucky. On the other hand there was some race I replayed like at least 50 times, partially because I was just skiing like an idiot, partially because I drove on the bump 2cm too much on the left and just missed a checkpoint or got run out of G-meter (which, again, many times works differently).
I overall think it's quite decent game, you can spend some good time with it, enjoying the views, sound design, have some sense of adrenaline, but it could be a little more polished.
I bought Steep about a month ago, the Gold Edition. I’ve currently completed 100% of all the regions, with every gold medal. To be honest, it went pretty well
I didn’t find it too difficult, thank God! 😅
I wanted to finish the game with the South Korea Olympic Games expansion. Unfortunately, I can’t figure out where to buy the DLC. Nothing is showing up for me in the PlayStation Store.
I wanted to know if there is currently any way to get this expansion. I can’t seem to find it anywhere. I’ve seen a few Reddit posts from about five years ago saying that there were issues with getting the DLC, so I was wondering if this has been resolved by now.
I’m playing on PlayStation.
With the recent uprise in games being reverse engineered and decompiled using AI I decided to reverse engineer STEEPs server with a combination of decompiling the game and capturing the games traffic. Here is the repo: https://github.com/SomeRandomNiko/powder
Right now it provides most of the functionality that the normal STEEP servers provide, including multiplayer (currently only freeroam, not multiplayer matchmatking).
Basically you can download the Powder launcher from the latest release. It's a python launcher that detects your installed game (both Ubisoft and Steam work) and launches a private server and redirects the the traffic that Ubisoft Connect and STEEP send to it. This requires setting up hosts file entries (or DNS server if you have one) and installing a certificate on windows. The launcher does both automatically. You can either play alone, host the server for someone else or join someone elses server (currently only in the same LAN is supported).
You can create multiple accounts in the launcher and log in with them in Ubisoft Connect (everything is stored locally). This allows you to play with multiple players or just have multiple saves for yourself. All accounts on the server automatically show up as friends.
Some stuff like achievements or medals requires data scraped/recorded from Ubisoft server. I legally can not distribute that data. Which is why it currently requires loading a "game data pack" .zip file in the launcher to have these things. I will later make a tool where you can record that data and generate the data pack yourself.
It's currently a work in progress and not very polished, but I will improve it going forward. I will later also make this available as a docker image with a web based admin panel so that it can be hosted on a VPS or something and be joined by other people across the internet.
If you have any questions feel free to post them here. Also if you find any problems you can open an issue in the repo.
TL;DR: You can host a private STEEP server that has most functionality of the normal steep server but fully offline!
My game crashes every time just after i have loaded in, im getting past (2/3) but its like half a second after i load in. Ive tried pretty much everything ive seen but i just cant get it to work, does anyone have any solves to this yet?
Ill check back into the game for a bit and see these absurd scores that make no sense when not even a week ago I would have the highest weekyl score or someone eles would have it at around 120-140k
I bought the Road to the Olympics version of the game on Xbox earlier this year. It is awesome! And up until the servers went down the other day I was able to play the Japan map since I had the physical disc but now all of a sudden I have to buy a ticket to Japan??
This is rediculous that they can remove a feature of a game I physically own the disk for. And if I buy the ticket to Japan, will all of my progress be lost?
Sucks to lose all those hours played, even if I can get the Olympics back, I am hoping the progress is still there.
I've got Steep X Games Gold Edition on PC, which includes the X Games Pass and additional DLC content.
Everything is installed and downloaded, but I'm struggling to figure out how to access the extra content that's supposed to come with the edition.
I'm particularly looking for:
90s DLC – How do I access the additional outfits and gear?
Season Pass – Where can I find the extra outfits, equipment and other included content?
X Games Pass – How do I access the additional outfits and cosmetics included with this?
Other Gold Edition bonuses – Is there anything else I need to do to unlock or activate these?
I've checked the game, and all the DLC appears to be installed correctly, but I can't seem to find the additional outfits or items in the customisation menus.
Are these items supposed to appear automatically, or do I need to complete certain challenges, missions or events to unlock them?
Has anyone else experienced this on PC, or does anyone know exactly where to find all the DLC content?
Used to play this game on PS4 when it came out but I just go it on steam last year. I had the olympics dlc on ps4, but obviously not on steam. I tried looking online at key websites, but none seem to have any keys left. Has anyone had any luck getting it on Steam? Is there some way to link my old PS4 account to regain access to it?
I'm hoping this is just temporary due to the spike in player numbers, cuz if they made the game dirt cheap just to pull the plug a week later, that would be messed up.
