Steam Controller (2026) Steam Controller issue with Double Inputs?

Is there something wrong with my controller? Does anyone else controller seem to do a double input when pressing the triggers? I don't really notice it in game at all but I tried using it with the keyboard and it behaves very weird.

I doubt this is the case, but you don't happen to have any third party controller software running in the background do you?

That's the only time I've had an issue with double inputs.

I usually do use rewasd but even with it off l, I still get the same problem. I've also tested the controller on a separate PC also. And got the same issue.

Yikes. How long have you had the controller and did this just start happening?

If it started happening out of nowhere I would maybe guess some sort of issue with recent firmware updates. If it's been happening the whole time you've had the controller I would maybe ask steam support if they can do anything for you.

Sorry, I can't really help past that.

weird thing is i only notice it when trying to type on the keyboard with steam. I spoke with support and they replaced the trigger and sent it back but I was still having issues... so they ended up sending me an RMA device and it still happening.. I'm thinking maybe its a setting or software issue? its just odd it happens on two different PCs for me.

Yeah it is really weird man. Sorry that's happening. Even though steam support helped you out already, I would let them know it didn't solve your problem and maybe with the next firmware update they might take it into consideration. Good luck man.

Oh man that is helpful! Yeah I'm trying to rule it out as software rather than hardware because at this point steam support has tried their best to send me out a new controller lol.

I'm on cachy and I cannot use the touchpads at all either. I have to manually move the joystick to the key and then press...

You don't happen to have a drawing tablet plugged in too do you? I'm just noticing the cursor jump back to center and the driver for that devices absolute input might be clashing with the mouse input layer in steaminput

By any chance do you have earthing issue in your home or the socket your pc is plugged into because my mechanical keyboard and gaming mouse also have this same issue sometimes from day 1 and it develops to be worse

Make sure you update the controller to the latest firmware , disable third party controller apps. Other than that I’m not sure , I only had that problem when I had rewasd open. I made sure to turn off the 360 emulation then fully closed the app otherwise it stays on

so like disable remapping and just exit the app? I still get the issue.
can confirm its up to date via steam.

I get this on my Steam Deck running SteamOS. I believe it’s a bug with the keyboard itself.
