Fluff Steam Controller arrived today…. And it screeches like a cat.

I just received my Steam controller, and had to do the drop test…. I was expecting the Wilhelm scream as I’d seen in countless videos…. So imagine my surprise when….

Whaaaa? They changed the Wilhelm Scream??

I promise, nobody was more surprised than me.
Since this is a recent restock, I’m curious if they’re doing different screams with each iteration?
Or was there a firmware update that changed it and nobody has noticed yet?

This was posted a couple days ago. They added it so it does both the cat screams and Wilhelm scream randomly

It's bizarre as hell and this is definitely the first time I've heard (of) it too, weird!

For what it's worth, I updated my controller yesterday (after not really using it for about 5 days). I think either that's the one updated that added this (or we haven't really been checking the scream for a while collectively).

I want them to make it so that it also does the Tourrettes Guy "SHIIIT" when thrown

I got it a week ago and I tried it multiple times, i also got the cat scream at first but then the velheim scream later. i think it is random.

Make sure you're in big picture mode

Oooh so it doesn't just happen?

Well they didn't want controllers screaming all the time but if you're actively connected it's a funny Easter egg.

Holy shi.... It's true!!!
Update: out of ~20 attempts (estimated), I got about 3 meows and 2 Wilhelm screams, but both are still there 😂

Oh, weird. I literally just received it today and had time to do a drop test before work, but didn’t have time to do multiple. Will have to play with it after my shift.

I think I was lucky, I really started counting 20 after about 10 silent attempts.

I dropped mine 5-10 times, got the cat screech theee times, never heard Wilhelm. Will continue “experimenting” later.

Lmao even.

Sad if they changed though.

Edit, glad it wasn't changed, it's random what you get. I hope they add more lol.

afaik its random which scream plays someone tested, but both screams are there it just picks a random one lol

Ok, that makes sense. I only had it for about twenty minutes, so there was no extensive testing. I’d never heard of the cat scream before.

Did not have people abusing game controllers just to find out what "funny noise" it makes on my 2026 bingo card...

I think it's because you ordered the rat screeching controller (special edition) Hope that helps

Never been able to make my controller do a wilhelm scream let alone a cat.

LOL Did they add a second one when we weren't looking? Edit: Juust tested it with mine and yeah, it does both now. Valve, you legends, you...

Here I am nervous to even use this thing too hard because I don’t want to wear it in and people are just tossing them around.

Bro i think ur cat is stuck under the cushion. Help him

1

u/TyrantJaeger 1d ago

Your cat is inside the couch isn't he?

1

u/AWildGamerAppeared25 1d ago

Is it maybe because it was more of a "throw" rather than a drop? So it like yowls like a cat because it "crashed"?

Still awesome though lol
