What is great/stands out in your Starbound experience that you enjoy the most?
What could be done better?
And any questions of these nature, I can update the post if people answer things I think are interesting to have as part of this.
I largely ask because I'm considering making a game with heavy inspiration from Starbound, largely what drove me to that was the performance issues and labor issues/bad business practices I won't speak more on so I don't have my post taken down.
Then further driven to this desire because of the death of Terraria: Otherworlds
I want to know what the community feels was done best, where things need improvement or a complete rework, etc.
Truly any general commentary that would be helpful in the design of something new would be appreciated.
Is it possible for someone to develop a ship combat mod in some form for Starbound?
Im not talking about the space dungeons where you need a mech or a vehicle to go through an asteroid field.
Instead I was wondering if it was possible for actual ship combat; factions taking over planets, naval battles in some form between factions, etc.
I feel like someone could make a cool mod involving it but I'm not too sure about the limitations or workarounds.
I know this should have been an update for the game but most if not all development for SB is dead.
What are your guys' thoughts on it?
ALSO if there already is a mod for this concept I just havent seen please let me know!
Hello! I've been trying to unpack the game's files to check some object scan dialogues. I've followed the guide, created my .bat file and all seems to work well, however, when it's time to run the command, it asks me which app to use. which i'm confused? because by what the guide says it shouldn't pull such request and just get right into unpacking, for clarification: the bat file and cmd opens, it runs the command and then requests to select an app.
Any solution to this? Has someone had this happen before? and if so, how did you figure it out?
she wears gray/red armor, has a cape, and a full-face helmet with I think a blue visor. she gave the "butcher, baker, widow-maker" quest before cheerful giraffe. I can't find a pic online and I don't have the mettle to untangle my mods list to figure out which mod broke and keeps crashing my game just for a single screenshot lol
I wanted to play missions with my friends without missing out on key loot so I made this mod.
Every player gets their own items from mission chests, and every mission boss drops a separate loot bag for each player who fought it. There's also a Mission Log that tracks the unique loot from each mission. Normal enemies and chests outside missions work the same as before.
Me and my friends want to replay Starbound with an added quirk or gimmick for fun. In the past we beat the entire game together while having no armor but maybe there are fun mods like tying the player together or something?
I've been looking for a new game I can sink hundreds of hours into and Starbound caught my attention. I really enjoy modded Minecraft, especially having a lot of progression, building new stuff, and always having something to work toward. I also saw a YouTube video about Frackin' Universe that looked like it added a ton of content and some kind of research tree.
Is Starbound still worth picking up for someone who's never played it?
Added support for environmental protection on Frackin' Universe "Unknown" type planets.
Added the new Ship Control Console object to control your ship's default fields like a field control console.
The older Ship Shield Switch and Station Shield Switch objects are considered deprecated, but their assets will be available indefinitely for backward compatibility.
The recipes must now be learned by completing two quests given by the wandering human scientist at the Outpost near Terramart.
A new extension mod is available:
Field Control Technology - Station Control Console (steam): Upgrades the space station console on personal space stations to the Station Control Console, to control your station's default fields like a field control console.
Extra Requirements
As with the previous version, some additional mods are optional requirements:
For the field control console to be able to provide environmental protection in general, either Belter Dungeons (steam) or No Belter Dungeons (steam) v2.2.0 or newer must also be installed.
I would like to translate the first and second part of the iceberg that I made, but I'm terrible at English (I speak in Spanish). Any advice you could give me?
So I have over 350 mods on my game and it was going swimmingly for a bit until I did one random villager quests that I was trying to recruit from and it was a killing contract quest where the NPC tells me to kill a criminal type NPC, usually there's no problem but sometimes they're invincible, can't be killed at all and for those moments I just abandon the quest but now it happens to NPCs that spawn in Arcana dungeons like from the Nova Station sidequest, I've been trying to figure out which mod causes this but I'm just stumped now, does anyone know how it happened from this?
Is there any place to get actual information about this mod? I've been playing it for about a week, and I feel like I can't figure out a huge portion of the content. The wiki is basically empty and I can only get occasional info from Google searches. I read all the in-game guides and codexes I could find too.
For example: I can't find the bosses from Volcanic or Shining Seas planets. I found what I am like 95% sure is the glitch volcanic forge where the Volcanic boss should appear, but I explored a few and never found the boss. Ended up just going straight to the Anima planet boss to get the Pale EPP. I have no idea what corridors are or how to reach them.
I'm genuinely about to just give up on this mod but plenty of people seem to have no problem figuring it all out.
