Interact with people outside of reddit? I know like two people irl, one of whom is queer, that are well to the left of me and honestly both of them are pretty chill. I know dozens of queer people that all seem like progressives/social democrats to me.

Also to be totally honest I've interacted plenty in some of the queer subreddits and been fine. Granted I don't usually bring up politics outside of queer topics on those spaces so maybe that's part of it. Idk, there are plenty of queer subreddits out there that feel a bit wider on the political spectrum. r/countttt and other subs like it feel like that.

Mainly yes, but not exclusively left. In UK, under David Cameroon the legislation for same sex marriage passed

I think they should have focused much more on building new public housing in order to add to the supply, but the plan is still pretty good.

it is a start. if red-red-green can show, that they can work towards improving the life of the people, they might be able to gain more voters back from black-blue

Just watching from New Zealand and I wish our Labour party had a leader as good as Burnham!

Generally, political strike just means striking to demand national change (eg. 40h workweek, improvements to healthcare system, etc.), so about things not connected to your workplace directly

I think it’s ridiculous to blame the media for this. Didn’t the media report on the MAGA attack on the Capitol every single day? If MAGA supporters claim that most of them were peaceful and that the assault on the Capitol was carried out by a small group of conspirators, does anyone actually believe that?

Did anyone say "this is just a small minority" during the far-right riots in the UK a while back?

Solidarity strikes are legal. Political in the sense of people not working to promote a party? It think is a murky area.

I’ve definitely felt that as well at times. Obviously it’d be a generalization to say everyone and everyone’s free to have their own opinions, but I feel like I’m not “progressive” enough cause so many go to the extreme. I wouldn’t even consider myself that moderate either like I think what Israel’s doing is wrong, but I also support having a more complex understanding about the conflict. It’s funny also how these same people never supported me when I was going through bad things that they would supposedly be against, I guess empathy only goes so far

If a company owns more than 10,000 apartments, they get to keep 10,000 but the rest will be socialized for which they will receive a compensation that is capped at 16 billion euros. Co-ops and other entities who provide affordable housing for the common good are excluded.

They plan to build 100k new apartments between 2026 and 2031. At least half of that will come from companies owned by the state of Berlin and the aforementioned entities. Additionally the conversion of old office buildings and housing on unused land would be financially supported. Co-ops also would get access to state-owned lands on which they could build affordable housing.

A propos, can I ask if political and solidarity strikes are legal in Romania?

Because they are historically the most efficient (Germany in 1920, France in 1936 and 1968, Poland in 1980) and the first thing our free government did after the fall of communism was ban both forms of strikes.

Legitimate democratic means? Does France not have democratic elections? Do you think violent unpopular protests should have the right to overturn elections?

Okay it's been a bit since I posted this and a lot has developed since then. Firstly, to those commenting on here, much respect.

Now as of now after I've been keeping up with the rioting (since I'm in a different part of the world outside of Europe), a historical townhall building that dates back to around 19th century was burnt down, and a whole other bunch of old and traditional buildings were as well. Not to mentioned all of the small businesses that were targeted by looters.

To be VERY CLEAR! I DO NOT LIKE THAT! No one does. And much like everyone's comments here, that sentiment is shared, this will definitely hurt the left because these things are inflated to be portrayed as the overall narrative, which admittedly, both sides are wrong with that.

Wrong for the fact rioting, arson, looting and property damage was committed, and the fact that the media is pointing fingers to these individuals as "the left and why we should never support the left."

All in all, yeah, protest and make your voices heard... but we can do all of that without burning and looting stuff.

the majority of the videos seen about rioters and destruction are the minority of the protests. there will always be the ones who bring chaos in any large scale uprising. the media and bots will continue to amplify it to convince as many people as possible that it's all rioting and destruction

God forbid you try to have a productive conversation these days. And I know there were always people where it's like arguing with a wall but it's definitely gotten worse I feel.

I was called some of those things just this morning because I dated to criticize Iran.

Im so frustrated with the left. I'm straight and there isn't much debate going on in the leftist subs. It's a statement then everyone gets in line and agrees.

Good example of why we must be vigilant against electoralist arguments to completely cede the game on trans rights

Especially since I can't find anything saying whether or not doctors and nurses are only assigned to the space designated for their... biological sex*(?) or not. Why segregate patients but not staff?

*Every article post-AI-Broken-Internet Google shows me is about the modern anti-trans policies, so saying "their gender" wouldn't be accurate. Can't find how and why sex segregation in hospitals started, either.
