šŸ†˜Help Me Named group chats missing on iOS (iPhone)?

Per the subject, *named* group chats (that I created on the desktop app) are missing from the iOS mobile app. If I message the same participants in a new message, it just creates a completely new ā€œgroup chat & the old named group chat nor history is there.

How do I interact with these named group chats on iOS mobile??

Environment: iOS 26.X + Slack v26.04.30

PS: Note, these are not ancient inactive group chats that Slack has decided to hide but recent (within the last 12 hours) chats.

Question about timezone

Hey, I have a question about slack changing timezones.
On my iphone I changed the time to not automatic. Perfect.
But on my macbook (company owned) I am not allowed o change timezone or untick automatic timezone update.

I intend to travel on my vacation and I don’t want anyone to see my timezone.

Since I cant modify the timezone on my laptop, what could I do?

I thought of buying a mobile travel router and use my hone wifi with the desired timezone. Would that work?
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you.

šŸ†˜Help Me Slack Android notifications only show "New message" instead of actual message text

I'm using a Google Pixel 10 Pro running Android 17.

Recently, my Slack notifications stopped displaying the actual message content. Instead, they simply show the sender's name and "New message."

Previously, I could read the entire message directly from the notification and even reply without opening Slack. I can still technically reply from the notification, but since all it shows is "new message", I have to open the app to know what the message is.

This happens even when my phone is unlocked.

I've checked every notification setting I can find on my phone's settings, cleared the cache, and completely uninstalled and reinstalled Slack. Nothing has worked.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a known fix?

Why Do we have to look at people in our DMs we don’t want to see

I can’t understand why a software company with all the available configuration options out there forces us to look at people in our DMā€˜s that we either don’t talk to or haven’t talked to for months if not over a year and no matter what you do you cannot get rid of this person. Nothing works, closing the conversation doesn’t help, hiding them just keeps a circle there that says hidden, which is super annoying. I just don’t know why it’s set up this way

Black tick on grey circle for some activity items, how does it work?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I see some activity items have ticks next to them. When I hoover over the tick, it shows the reply I made to them. However, there are many activity items which I have also replied to but they don't show a tick?

Why is that, what make's a reply activate a tick and others not, or is it a buggy feature?

ā„¹ļøPSA PSA for Slack Owners: Check your billing settings now. A member "upgraded" our active Pro workspace without my approval, and I received zero notifications.

I am the owner of a workspace. A regular member was able to "upgrade" the workspace to pro even thought it was already a pro workspace. Supposedly I had the feature turned on to allow any member to upgrade, but I think it was on by default. So make sure you have that feature turned off. I received no notification of the change. Not via email. Not via Slackbot. The help topics say a notification is at the very least what should happen. The member who "upgraded" the workspace was then able to add themselves as a billing contact. Customer support avoided answering my question as to why I received no notification. They claim no approval is necessary for any member to upgrade your workspace if this feature is turned on. Watch out.

Introducing Slack Archiver - A complete tool to create and maintain an ongoing archive of your Slack workspace

As some of you may know, when you leave a Slack workspace, whether it be due to switching jobs or simply not wanting to be in one anymore, you completely lose access to everything unless you are invited to join again.

I sought to address this by making a tool to save your Slack messages to your own computer. You paste in a token, pick a folder, and hit start. It grabs your channels, DMs, threads, and attachments, and builds an offline viewer that looks like Slack and is searchable. Run it again later and it only pulls new messages.

It’s free, works on Windows and Mac (not tested on Mac yet), and doesn’t need any coding. Please reference the README for detailed instructions on how to use this.

I’m a scientist by trade, and I built this almost entirely with Claude. It only reads what's visible to your account. Be sure to reference your company, or other relevant entity, policies before using this. For convenience, you may consider using Claude to handle the setup.

Please feel free to leave any feedback or suggestions. I hope this can prove to be helpful to many of you!

Disclaimer: This is not a product that I gain any kind of monetary benefit out of, and I am solely sharing this to help others who want a convenient way to archive Slack history.

šŸ†˜Help Me Using Slack as a project cooperation tool

New to Slack and looking for some input from experienced users who use it as a collaboration tool. I am working remotely with another person on a project. We have created a private channel for the project. I have always found suggestions from experienced users to be valuable. We will be doing the usual things like asking questions of each other, sharing information and assigning tasks. I am wondering how we can use Slack features. Can we mark questions as addressed and comments as read? What suggestions do you have?

How to stop to-do notifications from syncing to mobile?

I use Slack's "remind me" or "to-do" feature a lot to organize myself but they consistently push these notifications both on desktop and mobile. I don't get any other mobile notifications while I'm actively using the desktop app and I deliberately only set these reminders to pop up during work hours. Yet they still come through on my phone at the same time and I have to manually clear them. I've yet to find a way to stop this. Not the end of the world but a nuisance. Anyone have any ideas?

What are your favorite ways your team uses Slack? Whether it’s for internal communications, productivity, collaboration, or helping your team feel more connected, I’d love to hear what’s worked well for you and made your team more efficient and effective!

I'm looking to learn from people who have used it for a while as my company recently rolled out Slack, and all are new to the platform.

I am comfortable with the features, but would love to know:
- Peoples perspectives on what you implemented early on that worked well, and what you wish you had done differently?
- Small changes or habits that made a big difference for your team
- Any favorite tips or tricks?

Thanks in advance!

Slack shit rules for a app submission

We at our company don’t use slack on our daily basis. But as part of our integration expansion we have build slack app. Everything is and submitted to marketplace for review.
But the app is being returned twice now one is due to active installations of atleast 10 and the second time it was returned was that our app doesnt have atleast 10 weekly active users. We have monthly active users of 23 but no, slack doesnt even show the weekly active users count anywhere in the app but they want atleast 10 weekly active users being maintained throughout the review .
Im tired now of slack and its shit

šŸ†˜Help Me Does anyone out there still have an installer for Pulse app that got shut down in 2022?

This is a long shot, but this application was amazing. It would detect whatever app you were using and it would update your Slack status accordingly. If you are on a Zoom call, it will set your status to "In a Call". If you are on the IDE, it will set you to focus mode. If you have a calendar event for a medical appointment, it will set you to OOTO. It then got suddenly bought by Mozilla in 2022 and shut down. I was wondering if by any chance someone still have the install files or the installer so I can try it out on my new mac, as my old one died. Thanks!

EDIT > This used to be the website: getpulse.team

šŸ†˜Help Me Title: ChatGPT Slack event-trigger registration says ā€œ@ChatGPT isn’t in the channel,ā€ but Slack API confirms membership

Hi everyone,

I’m a German user, and English isn’t my first language. Please excuse any awkward wording. I used ChatGPT to translate this post into English so I could explain the problem as clearly as possible. Thank you for your patience and help.

I’m trying to configure an event-triggered task in ChatGPT Work using a connected Slack workspace. The intended flow is:

  1. An n8n workflow posts a completed task’s result to a dedicated public Slack channel.
  2. A Slack event triggers a ChatGPT task.
  3. ChatGPT reads and reviews the result.

Step 1 works. ChatGPT can also read the channel through its connected Slack tools. However, creating the event-triggered task fails with:

ā€œI couldn't create an immediate Slack monitor because u/ChatGPT isn't in [channel].ā€

What we have verified:

  • I’m using ChatGPT Plus in a desktop web browser.
  • The connected Slack workspace and selected public channel are correct.
  • A current Slack API channel-membership query explicitly lists both my user and the ChatGPT bot.
  • Slack’s installed-app configuration also lists the bot as belonging to that channel.
  • OAuth authorization was renewed previously, but the registration error persisted.
  • Slack’s ā€œAI agent experienceā€ setting is enabled for the ChatGPT app.
  • No pending permission-update request was visible in the app-management pages we inspected.
  • A manually sent channel message with a correctly resolved u/ChatGPT mention received no thread reply when checked about ten minutes later. A direct-message test also showed no response.
  • Signing into admin.openai.com with the same account used for ChatGPT displays ā€œAccess required.ā€
  • The setup link suggested by the registration error, https://chatgpt.com/slack-ai-app-install, redirects to the normal ChatGPT homepage without showing a setup flow.

One potentially relevant detail: Slack shows extensive permissions granted on behalf of my user, but the app-level permission shown in the installed configuration is limited to viewing messages that directly mention u/ChatGPT. I don’t know whether this is expected for this integration.

OpenAI Support has an open case. Its latest response has not confirmed the root cause or whether this feature is enabled for my specific Plus account.

We are keeping two questions separate:

  1. Why does event-trigger registration reject a bot whose channel membership is confirmed?
  2. Why does the installed bot not respond to an explicit mention?

We do not yet know whether these share a cause. The existing n8n-to-Slack workflow works, so I’d prefer to avoid another blind reinstall.

Has anyone successfully configured this exact setup with a personal Plus account?

Could we be confusing the personal Slack connector with a separately configured ChatGPT-in-Slack deployment? Is there a specific permission, installation step, or account eligibility requirement we should check?

I’m looking for a concrete diagnostic step or a confirmed working configuration. Happy to provide redacted screenshots or additional non-sensitive details.

Thanks for your help!

Slack Huddle music

I work in a Callcenter and sometimes I open a huddle just to listen to the waiting room music, since its a workplace pc I do not have another option to listen to music and I find it very relaxing to listen to nature meditation while I'm talking to a customer.

I'm the only one right?

šŸ†˜Help Me Timezone Settings Not Working

For some reason, the time in the desktop version of Slack has been 1 hour off for me on various devices since yesterday. My computer (PC) time Settings are correct, but Slack is not. When I change the timezone Settings within Slack, nothing actually changes; still off my 1 hour no matter what timezone I select.

Anyone else facing this problem?

Does anyone else use Slack as their "can someone quickly check this?" tool?

At my last company, Slack slowly turned into the place where every random data question ended up

"How many new customers did we get last month?" "Can someone check Stripe?" "Which product sold the most this quarter?"

None of these were hard questions, but they always depended on whoever knew the right databases or had time to write SQL. The constant ad hoc data requests ended up interrupting engineers way more than they probably should.

It got me wondering why we don't have an AI teammate in Slack that can just handle live queries in plain English. Basically text to SQL or natural language SQL, but inside the place where everyone already works.

I recently came across Mate, which seems to be built around that idea. You ask a question in Slack, it queries your connected databases and replies with the answer (or even a spreadsheet/chart if needed). It feels like a pretty practical take on Slack AI and self-serve analytics, especially for smaller teams that don't have a dedicated data analyst.

Curious if anyone here is using something similar. Has it actually reduced the constant "Hey, can you pull this number for me?" messages, or do people still end up asking engineers anyway?

iOS notification issue

My outlook app notifications in slack used to clearly state the name of the meeting in on banner notification and control center. Now it is just a jumbled mess of location/zoom link, invitees, etc. does anyone know of a fix for this?

šŸ†˜Help Me Mute mobile notifications from one user only?

I have notifications on for my phone, most other notifications are helpful and people are sensible. There is one user who uses the workspace (all channels) more than I personally need to see, is there a way to not get notified when they specifically post? It’s harmless and technically could be somewhat relevant to each channel, but never relevant to me. TIA!

Another question on search

I don’t think I formulated it very well. I am not looking for keyboard shortcuts. I just want to know once I’m on the search page. It’s not immediately obvious how to narrow it down by DM or channel. What can I do to type in a search string, but also limited to where I wanna search.
