Bought myself a new 3ds xl to play some older pokemon games. Chose Pokemon X as my first. Decided to shiny hunt with the horde method. 20h and around 12000 encountered pokemon later I found a shiny Mareep. Ended up killing that poor bastard because the sprite layout makes no sense. Anyways my 3ds is on sale now.
To give some context, I've been hunting a 5% shiny Riolu for over a year and a half now. And the last time I posted was on phases, 32 & 33. As you can see, it's now phase 46 still without the Riolu. And because of that, I started using repel trick to boost the odds all the way up to.... 9%^ :)
Hopeful that this is the phase I get it on (´˘ -˘ 人)
I'm also live sometimes on youtube, link on my profile! <3
8 years ago I bought pokemon crystal vc on release day and throughout those 8 years of on and off soft resets it has finally shined, this took way too long.
Hey folks, we got ANOTHER ONE! This has been a long 38-day drought. After a month in which I found four shiny Type: Null, #17 made me work hard for it. Nearly daily triple hunting resulted in a drought of 15732 encounters between shiny Type: Null, collectively between my three remaining cartridges. I averaged 414 encounters per day during this stretch. When RNG gives you fits, volume is king! This Type: Null shined after 5753 encounters on this cartridge. It's only my 5th shiny Type: Null out of my 19 hunted that went over odds - pretty nuts. Although, all three of my last ones have gone over odds. They won't let me #BeatTheBank easily!
Just two more Type: Null to go and then I'll finally have all 19! One shiny Type: Null and 18 shiny Silvally, one for every Memory Type, to cap off this section of my Shiny Living Form Dex! See you for #18! 😎🎮
This year I committed to complete a Shiny Dream Team Quest in every(most) Pokémon Game made up until Gen 7. Obviously, this would take a couple of years to achieve this. But my goal for this years was to priorities what is normally the hardest hunts for any DTQ (due to the time between resets) and that is the Starters. Since I was 'single' hunting these, I aimed for a reasonable goal of hitting odds by the end of the year on all my starters. This entailed setting a daily goal of hitting an X amount of encounters per day, some of them were easy to achieve, while others (Like the XY/Diamond/Pearl resets) required a lot of attention. These weren't crazy numbers, usually 50 a day is what I aimed for, and most days, I was able to find pockets of down time to squeeze them in. Because I had like 9 active starter hunts at the time, with some being further along that others. I would mainly priorities the hunts that had the least amount of encounters, and if I ran out of time in my day, than I would trust that I could catch up on those further along hunts later in the year.
So, this was a plan that I put in place somewhere around the start of September. The first 2 weeks were relatively quiet with nothing wanting to shine. This made a lot of sense, as most days I would find my self getting in just 200 resets which accumulated close to 2-3 hours of hunting. On the very last day of September, something finally decided to shine...
This came early at just 958 encounters. Surprisingly, I was pretty content with seeing this. I got a Shiny Turtwig earlier in the year on Diamond without phasing. So this was to be excpected, and since this would be the last time that I would do this hunt. I was glad to experience this and tick it off the unwanted 'bucket' list. What I didn't know, is that this would be the catalyst to what is the luckiest month of my shiny hunting career. From here on, I'll cut back on the text and only included the dates found and the encounters they were caught at.
October 6 @ 1730 encounters, Piplup in my Pokemon Platinum shine:
The very next day, on October 7th, after less than 200 total encounters, Chespin in my Pokemon X copy shined at 1340 encounters...
A bit over a week has elapsed since then, but on the 16th of October, Snivy in my copy on Pokemon White shined at 3178...
and history, once again, repeats itself. The very NEXT day, on the 17th of October, Charmander in Pokemon Leaf Green shined at 5021 encounters ...
2 days after this, my most recent shiny shined TODAY. On the 19th of October. Shiny Oshawatt in Pokemon Black 2 at just 2637 encounters....
I know that there's plenty of time left in October for another shiny to be found, but I feel like I could not ask for more from the RNG gods. This has been an incredible couple of weeks and one that I'm convinced will never be topped. The goal I planned out for myself in September was mainly to focus on hitting odds on all my hunts, and my expectations on how many starters I expected to find by the end of the year, was 5. To have found 5 before the end of October is absolutely absurd to me. I don't normally post on here, but I just felt the need to share this to some capacity - because I think a part of me is still trying to process all of this haha!
This is my first SR shiny hunt and I see why people do it! It’s really exciting once the pokemon shines. Disclaimer: my hunt wasn’t long at all but I definitely am hooked now.
I love this Pokemon and I saw the only place to shiny hunt this on switch would be BDSP. I hadn’t even played Legends Arceus so I speed ran PLA (pretty good game btw. I’m definitely going back to play it more casually) which took about a week.
I finally caught Arceus on PLA so I spent a few days learning Arceus’ moveset on BDSP and how I should plan the fight. I saw another Reddit post where someone said bring 5-6 Bronzongs and they also suggested a Blissey holding a leppa berry with Fling, Recycle, and heal pulse. I didn’t feel like getting that many Zongs but I had one already so I brought him and the suggested Blissey. I didn’t have a master Al all so I had to do it the hard way!
I started the hunt at 8 am Sunday morning and luckily I got it to shine around 4 pm Sunday afternoon/evening.Not sure how many SR that is on average because I got tired of counting but it wasn’t that many. I probably should’ve grabbed the footage of it shining but I was too excited!
I’m curious, for anyone who hunted Arceus, how long did it take you to get the beauty to shine?
Well, I didn't get every type, but I finished because of a new game coming out Friday. But overall, I'm happy about what I've gotten. My brother will get the Remoraid because I wanted to keep the Quilfish.
Took over 2 years, but it finally shines ❣️ i lost track of how many resets after it went double odds. It's been an on and of hunt, but now finally I have hunted all three starters in this game 🥹 and before bank closes to.
