Put together data on the top five in Serie A for the metrics: goals, assists, chances created, dribbles, tackles, interceptions, clearances and saves so far.

Roma lead three: Malen for goals (6) and Dybala for assists and chances created.

Frosinone, just promoted, lead two: Kvernadze for dribbles and Cittadini for interceptions. Nico Paz has the most tackles, Rrahmani the most clearances and Falcone at Lecce the most saves.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on who surprises you here?

Forgotten Serie A Players #5: Massimo Maccarone 🇮🇹
Born: September 6, 1979
Position: Striker
Nationality: Italy
Clubs:
AC Milan (youth)
Prato
Varese
Empoli
Middlesbrough
Parma
Siena
Palermo
Sampdoria
Empoli
Brisbane Roar
Carrarese

Massimo Maccarone was one of those strikers who seemed to be around Italian football forever.
Nicknamed “Big Mac”, he made his name with Empoli before becoming one of the relatively few Italian forwards of his generation to move to England, joining Middlesbrough in 2002.
After returning to Italy, Maccarone enjoyed productive spells with Siena, Palermo and particularly Empoli, where he became a club icon.
He wasn’t the quickest or most technically spectacular striker in Serie A, but his movement, finishing and ability to find space made him a constant threat.
Even in his mid-30s, Maccarone was still scoring regularly in Serie A for Empoli.

Career Highlights:
🇮🇹 Italy international
⚽ More than 200 career goals
⭐ Empoli club legend
🏆 Scored the famous late winner that sent Middlesbrough into the 2006 UEFA Cup final

Fun Fact:
Maccarone actually made his senior Italy debut before ever playing a match in Serie A.

Question:
How many of you remember Big Mac? And which club do you associate him with the most?

Live Serie A matches are being show free in the UK again after a long while and really enjoy watching it despite the lacking top tier talent compared to its heyday.

One thing I've noticed - and it's probably more aimed at Napoli as they show them more of the time - Serie A is played at a quicker pace, similar to EPL with end-to-end attacking.

Correct me if I'm wrong on this: was it not Napoli that started playing this style of football?

There are no easy games in the CL. We played well but the other team played better. Didn't play the big moments well. We learn and move on. Roma had a winnable game against Real Madrid. Tough for the Italian teams in general. Defence needs to be tighter Forza Italia !!!

Came across some interesting data so put together an analysis: I ranked every keeper in the top 5 leagues who's faced at least 12 shots on target this season by the share they've saved. 95 qualify.

Caprile at Cagliari is top, saving 90% (28 saves, 3 goals conceded). Mandas at Lazio is second on 87%. Nobody in the other four leagues is above 83%.

Svilar's 9th on 81%. Six games is a small sample for keepers, but that's a big gap at the top. Do we think Caprile is the best keeper in Italy right now or was it just strong opposition really early?

I actually can’t defend this league anymore. Over the past few years I was holding onto facts from previous years recent. Serie A had 5 teams in CL, Atalanta beat the German team of the decade, multiple league winners etc. but it just can’t be done anymore.

I was running out of excuses already with how embarrassing Napoli were in the CL last year. Tied in with most of the other teams getting knocked out by Eredivisie teams. And now this year.

The league is shit. The teams aren’t good. And while early this could be the worst CL campaign from serie A teams we have seen In a while. Both Napoli and Inter at the bottom. Losing to teams like Club Brugge Villarreal respectively. And if anyone wants to say “ those are good teams” then you’re just proving my point. That’s all you need to know about how bad it’s gotten. I think I’ve always known I guess now I can just realize it. Not gonna say much about the Como game. Didn’t watch it. But tbh would have expected them to win or draw that at the very least.

Hi there!

I’m coming to Bologna on Friday and will watch the game against Inter on Saturday. What should I do on matchday?

Where should I go to eat and drink? Is there some areas where fans will meet up beforehand?

Any tips will be much appreciated 🔴🔵
