Update on Ship posts: They're being moved to Sundays only.

Hello everyone, just giving an update on the Ship posts. We're going to keep allowing them but limit all new posts after today to Sundays only.

Your posts and comments within them still need to be civil. No aggressive, rude, or hateful language directed at writers, other commenters/posts, or characters. If you can't explain why you do or don't like a specific ship without being negative towards others (fictional or not) then you will eventually find your way in to a ban.

Thank you everyone who came in and discussed in the previous sticky post. Hopefully this helps declutter going forward.

I forgot how much I missed my dynamic duo (From Nightwing vol 4 #143) Spoiler

This issue is so good, I forgot how great Damian is when he's being Dick's Robin. Dan Watters in one issue has done an amazing job with Damian as Robin than Fraction has for his entire run. He even remembered Damian's interest in medicine from PJK's Batman and Robin run. Like I'm so happy he's staying in Watters hands for a while, this is the Robin I want.

How would you feel about a story where Tim Drake is Batman while Duke Thomas is Robin?

I picture it being a detective story based in the ruins of a post apocalyptic Gotham. At this point Young Justice have completely replaced the Justice League as earth's main team.

In this elseworld, Damian never met Bruce as a child but instead stayed with the league. When he reached adulthood he took leadership from his grandfather.

This is an un folding mystery about the questions that Bruce Wayne didn't live long enough to answer.

I chose Duke and Tim because I like their dynamic a lot and they are basically the detectives of the batfamily (also because Tim is my fav and Duke is my third fav)

This is one of my favorite Tim moments. I just find it really wholesome and sweet that he was willing to leave Central City, knowing that his dad would find out, just to be there for Steph.

Black & Blue

I haven’t collected comics in years, but I saw recently that one of my absolute favorite characters, Tim Drake (Robin III) has “retired.” While he will always be my favorite Robin, I have enjoyed the fanfic concept of him in a new identity as Blackbird. Then I thought how perfect to team him up with another favorite Bat-Family character of mine, the short-lived and also “retired” character Harper Row AKA Bluebird. Obviously, I’m not a great artist (but at least it’s not AI), but I think you’ll get the point. Together, they’ll leave Gotham BLACK & BLUE.

Also on Legit issues and criticisms with Damian - Q- even tho he has been the main Robin for 17 years, its odd his relationship with Bruce is oddly underdeveloped as either as The Dynamic Duo or even as Father and son.

- even tho he has been main Robin for 17 years, and overall been around for 20 years

= its odd he does not have much of a relationship with Bruce as his robin or even his son

Sure there are major exceptions such as new 52 Batman and Robin by tomasi and gleason, and the recent Williamson/PKJ Batman and Robin.

but for the most part, it feels like dick and alfred did most of the day to day actual mentoring and raising Damian, even tho Damain is the bio son of Bruce and the main Robin. Sure Bruce does his big moemnts like going to Darkseid turf to revive Damain, but when it cames to mundane actual day to day parenting, Bruce is oddly lacking to his own bio son.

Yes, alot of these criticisms gets obscured by the fact he mostly had consistently good stuff in the most of the 17 years of him being Robin, such as Dick and Damain era in morrison run, robin son of batman mini by patrick gleason, supersons, the 2021 Joshua Willamson Robin series. but notice how most of the good stuff I mention are either him partnering up with anyone that is not his dad, or as a solo protagonist, with major exceptions like new 52 batman and robin and williamson/pkj batman and robin. but the fact we have to list those 2 examples as major exceptions in the first place, is already an issue.

People blame current writers having Tim Drake nostalgia for why Damain wasn't the support partner Robin for Bruce in Chip Zdarksy run and the start of the Matt Fraction run. but this was a problem even before those runs. cuz how come Damain wasn't the consistant support partner for Bruce in scott snyder run, tom king run, tynion run, joshua williamson run. and these are all the main flagship batman runs- yet bruce and damain overall don't have much development in alot of these

Thoughts? i wonder if cuz for the most part, him having a firm high concept identity as Son of Batman/Son of the Demon tm, and he has consistently current good mateiral for the part, obscures these criticisms.

and I know the recent announcement of upcoming issues of Matt Fraciton Batman might finally have Bruce and Damain as a consistant Dynamic Duo partnership in the flagship Batman title,- and if that is the case, how come its after 17 years of Damain already being robin, that should've been developed long time ago

Why do so many people dislike Tim for becoming Robin, but not Bruce for accepting him as Robin?

I've seen this as an argument that comes up everywhere. I keep on seeing people harp on how much they dislike Tim because he became Robin after Jason, and essentially forced himself on Bruce while Bruce was grieving.

And while I can understand disliking him on the basis of him replacing your favorite Robin, the distaste directed at him because of him taking on the Robin mantle himself is weird because he was a child. Bruce was an adult. Tim became Robin because Bruce let him become Robin. I don't know, I see so many fans treat Tim becoming Robin as intentionally malicious. I see them acting like he was a full grown man who was waiting gleefully to take the Robin mantle, and not a kid who saw his hero in need of a Robin.

Tim is treated more of an adult in this perceived dynamic than Bruce is, and that's really weird.

And it's weird, because by comparison, early Damian's fucked up deeds were always reduced to "well he's a kid, so we can't blame him" And to an extent, that's true. He was brainwashed by his abusive mother and grandfather and was actively loved to do better.

And there's a huge difference between Tim vs. Damian, but the point still stands.

Bruce Wayne let Tim be Robin. Tim was a child. The ability for him to be and stay a Robin was on Bruce. It's disingenuous to act otherwise.

Thoughts on Tim Drake in the new [Batman: Bad Seeds - Streets of Gotham] one shot? Spoiler

While it was a short appearance, I actually kinda liked it. Tim was badass, had his personality, Bernard was there but he didn’t take up every single panel, and as a setup to Tim’s “imminent future” like Matt Fraction said I don’t necessarily mind it. I think it’s interesting enough to start Tim on a new path.
