Please, for the love of GOD, tell city council not to adopt Fusus AI mass surveillance tomorrow

If you live in Reno and you are reading this, I am begging you (yes, YOU personally) to please show up to tomorrow’s city council meeting at 10 am, and demand that they do not sign this absolute dystopian nightmare of a contract.

Inform your family and your friends, and urge them to come with you. We need to flood the chambers and let them know that we are absolutely not going to let them do this to us.

If you cannot attend, here is the link to leave a public comment or register to attend via zoom:

Haven’t heard of FUSUS? It makes Flock look like a complete joke. Here’s a quick explanation.

Have you ever given much thought to how many cameras catch you in their field of vision on a day to day basis?

Every ring doorbell in your neighborhood, every intersection, every storefront, every worksite, every school, every parking lot, every sporting event, every medical office, every police drone, dash cam, body cam - even churches.

On a normal day for me, my estimate is about 130. If you actually count them up, I’m guessing that’s actually on the lower end for a lot of you.

Now imagine every single one of those cameras plugged into a system that has the following capabilities:

- Facial recognition scanning
- Gait analysis
- License plate scanning
- Emotional analysis based on facial expressions
- Personal associations mapping (friends and family)
- Predictive analysis using a constructed pattern of life baseline
- Access control
- Carried object recognition (drugs, outline of a concealed weapon in clothing, stolen property, etc)

Imagine all of these camera feeds are accessible at anytime by the Reno police, and shared to every other department or “federal partner” that requests it. They are monitored 24/7 by an AI system that logs and reports any flagged behavior. The behavior does not even have to be criminal behavior.

The scariest part? Unlike flock, There is no way to identify which cameras are plugged into this network. Any business or individual can register their EXISTING cameras to feed into Fusus. The end goal is, from the moment you exit your front door, to have an AI watching your every move, learning everything about you, cataloguing every petty crime, and deciding whether you could eventually pose a threat to those who rule over you.

This is the system that ends any possible resistance or insubordination before it even happens. It’s a system that collects and stores catalogues of blackmail to use against anyone at the right time.

It’s the palantir from lord of the rings.

I know it is easy to feel apathetic and hopeless about these things, but it is absolutely crucial that we use every ounce of power we have to prevent this from passing tomorrow. Once this system is in place, they will only ever build and expand it until it swallows us whole.

Anyone else struggle to make friends here?

kind of a vulnerable post, but I moved back to the area a couple of years ago from Phoenix and admittedly i've been kind of isolated, but I miss having regular friends to hang out with and haven't really met people I genuinely vibe with. Whether it's having a couple drinks occasionally or playing some Switch/other games at my place or online. I'm pretty particular in my own interests and sense of humor, so I end up also being particular about who I hang out with generally.

i'm also a trans woman, so honestly it kinda terrifies me to meet up with new people regardless of the level of passing as cis, even if it's something i don't really talk about much at this point of my life. i'm also 29, so i'm in that weird spot between being young and unc(ette)

if anyone would be interested in possibly chatting and seeing if you wanted to be homies, i'm into gaming, occasional drinking, and slowly getting back into working out as well! also if you're in the same boat, it'd be nice to know i'm not just a freak and someone else can relate lmao. feel free to also share some good places to meet cool people.

Kermit Impersonator?

Looking to have Kermit officiate my wedding, don't actually need an official officiant licence just need a good Kermit replica and an okay impression.

We have our own vows but we thought having Kermit there would add a lot of flavor to the whole thing.

Obviously we would be willing to pay.

Looking for Dog tracking or drone services to find lost dog

Looking for a reliable non scam local service for help using a dog sniffing dog or drone service to locate a lost dog in the north valleys. Lots of open spaces for my pup to go to. It’s been 3 nights 2 days since he was last seen on our ring camera. He slipped through the fence and is wearing a collar.

To close out the 2026 year, Mainline Steam Spectacular is the last event of the year and the last with three Mikados operating mainline excursions of the season- a rare chance to see three Mikados operating mainline excursions. On Monday, December 7th, 2026, from 10:30-2:00.

But this is where YOU can join in all of the fun on this final season of the year. I'm giving the local model train enthusiasts a chance to display their models at the event, but if you have any N-scale models that are operable, then you could get a chance to operate on the Ready To Run mainline loop on Monday. Just DM me.

Being the final event of the season, I want to make this a special run, so please visit this operation when you get the chance.

Please note that times are subject to change without notice, and this may affect the operation, so be prepared for any updates.

Need a quiet place to study

Hi peeps any recommendations of where I could study tomorrow (Wednesday) most of the day. They don’t need to have food, would like them to have WiFi but if they don’t I’m fine with out.
I was thinking downtown library but is there any parking? If so, do you guys know how much it would be because I’m going to be there for most of the day.

Any good spots around Reno for plane watching?

Recently moved to Reno from Arizona and still getting familiar with the area. I've been a private plane hobbyist for a while, and I always enjoy watching the traffic come and go at different airports. Are there any good public spots around Reno or Sparks to sit and watch planes for a bit? Bonus points if there's a decent view of the mountains, too.

I had my picture taken at the pick up booth at the crawl last weekend and I completely forgot where the guy told me to find them. Does anyone know? Are they posted yet? Or am I not finding them when I search it up because they’re not posted?

Any suggestions for 2027 Medicare Advantage plans in Reno

I just discovered that Senior Care Plus/Hometown Health is going away here in Reno

I need to switch to another Medicare Advantage Plan

Any suggestion on what's good or bad around here?

I hear that Kaiser Permanente is sort of replacing Senior Care Plus here in Reno, is that a good option?

Thank you

Best area to live?

• Upvotes

I know from my searches that this has been asked before. We’re moving from MN so I know we’re leaving a great public school system. So I’m trying to find anything close.
We’re relocating for my husbands work. He’ll be off of 580 and south meadows.

We’re looking to be under 800k with 4 bedrooms. Nice non-cookie cutter homes, character, walkability. Great for young active kids (3 &5). We’d love a nice yard, close to large parks, very safe.

I’ve heard old southwest reno is probably what would fit the criteria, but I want to hear from others on other areas or more specifics.

I’m probably looking for a unicorn. But I believe in the Reddit community to help give me all the secrets Google can’t quite find.
