idk where to put this?🤷♂️ The key to have a good icon set
Hi! I'd like to make this semi-guide for people to have better icon sets overall, based on the criteria I've used to create my own icon set. Imma divide by sections.
First and most important: your icons must have similar designs on the technical side. This means: line art should have a similar thickness; they must have similar color balance and they should have similar shapes (this one is the least important, but still advisable). For example, if your cube has 50% of the first color and 50% of the second, the rest of the icon has to have that same balance.
Second: your icons need to have an overall theme. That can be anything, fantasy creatures, technology, sea, spiky, abstract or more geometric like the og icons, really anything, but it has to define the whole icon set.
Third: either your whole icon set has gradients or none have gradients. This is more of an opinion on my side, but you can just choose to follow my advice or not.
Lastly, you can play with the colors, I don't really have any advice on colors. Most of the time, there's just colors that look good and some that don't (brown, board, plain black, gray in combination with dark colors). I'd say, if you don't know which you should use, just try with two tones of the same color; two opposites in the color wheel or dark gray and bright color (like I did).
That's all my advice, thanks for reading!
