This is the career / general questions thread for the week.
Questions about radiology as a career (both as a medical specialty and radiologic technology), student questions, workplace guidance, and everyday inquiries are welcome here. This thread and this subreddit in general are not the place for medical advice. If you do not have results for your exam, your provider/physician is the best source for information regarding your exam.
Posts of this sort that are posted outside of the weekly thread will continue to be removed.

I know these normally get deleted or need to go into the weekly car*er advice thread (censored to avoid auto deletion)
But can we get a megathread going for info on international x-ray work - agencies/licensing/compatibility/ etc ..?
I feel like this would be helpful for a great deal of us Americans right now. I can't seem to find much help elsewhere.

I want to go deeper into musculoskeletal imaging to improve by reporting standard and speeds for the surprisingly vast amount of MSK cases I’m getting in my practice.
For those experienced in MSK radiology, what books, online resources, or courses would you recommend?

Not sure if entertainment is the right flair but this is crazy. How did she even get logged in as a physician and how was this easier than sending mammos to the rad?

Here's the reality: CT technologists across the country are working alone in departments, managing multiple
scanners, emergency cases, and critically ill patients all at once. When something goes wrong-and it will—there's often no one there to help.
I started a petition asking the American College of Radiology to establish clearer staffing recommendations that actually account for patient safety. Right now, many hospitals staff CT departments based on how many patients they can process, not on what patients actually need. One technologist handling a confused or elderly patient, managing transfers, administering contrast, AND responding to emergencies while another scanner sits waiting? That's not efficiency.
That's a disaster waiting to happen....

As a B.Sc. BMRIT student, I’m considering working on a research paper for the first time.
I’m excited to learn, but I also have a few honest questions:
How can students ensure they receive fair credit for their actual contribution?
What should a student clarify with their supervisor before starting?
Does research genuinely help students build skills and improve their future opportunities, even at the undergraduate level?
I’m not questioning anyone’s intentions. I simply want to understand how to approach research the right way, learn meaningfully, and make my efforts worthwhile.
I’d really appreciate honest advice from researchers, faculty members, and students who have been through this experience.
Thank you!

Hi everyone,
About a month ago, I shared CatchUpRad here when it was only available on iOS and the web. A number of you offered to help test the Android version. I wanted to come back with an update: CatchUpRad is now live on Google Play!
Thank you to everyone who volunteered and took the time to test it. Your help made it possible to get the Android version released.
For anyone who missed the original post, CatchUpRad is an app I made to help clinicians keep up with new radiology literature. You can choose the topics, study designs and journals you’re interested in, and the app creates a daily updated reading list with summaries and links to the original papers. It’s free, has no ads and doesn’t require an account.
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.catchuprad.android
I’d love to hear how it works for you and what I could improve, especially if there’s something that would make it more useful in day-to-day practice or training.
Thanks again!
Sven

Not a healthcare professional.
There was deoxygenated bloodflow. Gone by 18 weeks. Put me off getting dating scans as it was a stressful few weeks. No trace by birth. Chose to skip pathology.

I have been having issues with my left hip, GP thinks it’s a Labral Tear and referred me for an MRI on what I assumed would be the L hip region, however, the appointment says Bony Pelvis. Google states that this may not be the best MRI to specifically look at the L hip, can anyone advise if bony pelvis MRI would be best to look at bone/muscle etc issues in one side of the hip.

Hello everyone!
I'm a radiologic technologist and radiation therapist, and I've been working on a project called X-ray explained. (You might know me from my x-ray tube simulator!)
I just finished the beta version of my Inverse Square Law simulator, and I'm excited to share it!
The idea is to let you interact with the concepts rather than just read about them. You can change the source-to-image distance and see how radiation intensity and field size change as a result
Here's the link! -- https://inverse-square-law-s-1097.bolt.host/
Since this is still a beta, I'd genuinely appreciate feedback:
I'm building this because I want students to develop an actual understanding of the physics they use throughout their careers, not just memorize answers for an exam.
A massive thank you to anyone checking it out, your feedback is greatly appreciated!

Anyone specializing in or with special interest in neuroradiology, do you have any favourite textbook or other excellent resource recommendations?

young pt, in her early 40s. Had a lot of chest and upper back pain. Otherwise vitals stable. I called the dr in er right away and got an abdomen order and the dissection extends down to the iliacs. Crazy stuff.
