Success Story I quit!! Advice?

• Upvotes

I haven’t hit a vape in 4 weeks. I am 27F. I hit my first vape when I was 18. Crazy to think about. First week was pretty tough. I’d say the craving for a vape is pretty minimal now. However, I’ve probably gained 10 pounds. Anyone have advice on something low calorie that helps curb the craving (for food)? I can’t stop eating since I stopped vaping!

Advice Quitting Vaping! Finally!

Hi guys I decided on 10/20 to quit vaping. I’ve been vaping for about 5/6 years now give or take. I’ve tried to quit many times before but never really truly wanted to (#love a good hit) but I’ve been dealing with so much anxiety and just a general sense of poor health and just feeling like absolute SHIT! I know it’s that damn vape. Anyway ik it’s literally been 2 days but yeah i just have zero desire to vape anymore idk like yeah i have cravings as of right now but i don’t actually want to vape anyway lol .

WHAT IM POSTING ABOUT isssss ive been feeling like mucus stuck in my chest and base of throat, and this only started after i quit. I went on a run today (I exercise regularly) breathing just fine no issues no pain just that stuck feeling still. So I don’t think it’s anything more serious health wise. Will this go away soon? Or in a couple of months? I know smokers flu is common after quitting! I’m honestly just writing this because I’m bored and want to talk to people who have quit too

Advice 10+ Years, affecting work, mood, and sleep

I’ve been vaping since 2015 and have gone through at least 400 cans of Zyns over the last year, alternating between Zyns and vaping. I know I need to quit, especially considering that I want to start a family soon.

However (and I know a part of this is just my weak mind), I have a wedding out of the country next week where I’ll be drinking with friends.

I’m on my last few hits of this delicious strawberry ice vape and wanted to attempt quitting before my wife gets back this week.

Do I quit now and risk being a Debby downer during the wedding and reacting negatively towards my wife in front of people (again, my weak mind), or do I establish a date and quit after the wedding?

Venting Quit vaping today

I ordered some lozenges and free patches. They came in the mail today so I said fuck it let me try and quit. I haven't vaped since this morning. The lozenges are surprisingly adequate to satisfy my cravings. I vaped more than I breathed fresh air I feel like so I'm proud of myself. I've been breaking the lozenges and I haven't needed a patch yet but I'm sure this gets harder as the days go by. Tomorrow morning when I have my espresso is gonna be difficult but I'm so motivated to quit nothing is gonna stop me. I've quit alcohol, meth, and various other substances in the past. Is nicotine really harder than those? I ordered some hard candy and have tooth picks. Anything else I should have?? My inspiration for quitting was having chest pain off and on. I've had my heart checked and am following up with a stress test soon but I feel like the heavy vape use caused this. Anyone else get chest pain from vaping? I'm just over it really. Pray for my ass PLZZZZZZ

Venting I’ve tried to quit probably about 80 times

I feel like a cuck to vapes ngl.

ive actually probably spent about 2 1/2 months of my life going thru withdrawals between all the timed I’ve tried to stop.

will it ever work?

I would think by now I’d be used to the cravings. But I am not

i think the only thing that makes me fold is the cravings and the feeling of hopelessness and I feel stupid just throwing them away.

i read Alan carrs entire book 2 days ago and I just went a day and a half and I honestly thought I was going to do it this time but I think I’m just gonna give up and whatever

is it possible I just have one of the very unlucky genetics that make it 10x worse when I quit compared to other people? Because it actually feels like hell and impossible to quit

I don’t know who Madison Green is, but this tiny essential oil container delivers a burst of sharp mint. It’s like vicks vapor rub, but stronger. Feels like hitting a vape, gives me the same relief response without the buzz or nausea. I’m sure actual vicks vapor rub would work too? But oh my gosh. I haven’t had a vape in months after 10 years of using them. Try it!

Advice Day 27 cold turkey — why is week 4 harder than the first 72 hours?

I quit vaping cold turkey on September 25 after years of heavy, constant nicotine use.

I expected the first 72 hours to be hell, but surprisingly, they weren't the hardest.

I completely changed my routine. I went from being mostly sedentary to going to the gym almost daily, sometimes training 2–2.5 hours. Heavy lifting, deadlifts, pull-ups, StairMaster, running — basically exhausting myself to escape the cravings.

And it actually worked. Exercise cleared my brain fog, improved my mood, helped my sleep, and temporarily killed my cravings. My strength and endurance have improved significantly. I even started noticing improvements in my circulation and sexual health.

By days 15–20, I thought I'd beaten nicotine. Some days I genuinely forgot vaping existed.

But weeks 3–4 have been fucking brutal.

Random intense cravings, anger, irritability, and brain fog. One day I'm perfectly fine, the next I feel worse than during the first 72 hours.

My biggest triggers are studying (I always vaped during lectures) and being home alone.

I'm on day 27 now. I'm not going back, but I'm exhausted by how unpredictable these waves are.

When did the cravings finally become manageable?

Reassurance Quitting buddies?

This is my last day vaping 2%. My vape will run out of juice today, so, tomorrow will be my first day of withdrawal. I have patches and gum to help the withdrawal but I wanted someone to talk to who is willing to quit together? For mutual support. Anyone interested, please DM me!

Advice 2 weeks off, looking for assistance with occasional cravings

Title pretty much says it all. I haven’t vaped in almost two weeks, which I’m pretty proud of. This past weekend my partner and I went on vacation and I hardly even thought about smoking, but now I’m back at work and the urge to vape comes back periodically throughout the day. I’ve been using nicotine gum which helps a lot, but I’m just wondering if there’s any other methods that help?

Reassurance Has anyone not gained weight when quitting vaping with recigar?

I’ve been vaping for seven years and am considering taking Recigar to help me quit. I’m also about to get engaged, and while quitting is my priority, I’m worried about gaining weight during my bridal era. I know it might seem like a small concern, but it’s something that matters to me personally.

For anyone who has taken Recigar to quit vaping, did it help with the urge to snack or eat more, too? My understanding is that it can reduce nicotine cravings and withdrawal symptoms, so I’m curious whether that also made you less likely to turn to food as a distraction. I’d love to hear about your experiences!

Success Story Some Motivation

Post image
15 Upvotes

I feel like I am the only one quitting for mental health reasons. Part of fixing my mental health is having good sleep, which nicotine absolutely does not allow. I wanted to share this score after just 5 days of no vape. I am still tired and foggy and a bit depressed but 5 days is all it really took to fix my sleep. My baseline anxiety is prob the lowest it has been in years. There are cravings, and I do feel crappy and down, but that is OK and even expected. If I can just stick with it for a few more weeks and let my brain adjust I know I will be much better off

Advice Did anyone else feel physically sick quitting vaping? How long did it last? Cold turkey vs. tapering?

I’ve been vaping 5% nicotine for about 10 years and I’m desperately wanting to quit for good.
I recently tried quitting cold turkey and the physical symptoms were awful. I experienced waves of nausea, chills, shaking, feeling cold, loss of appetite, and just this overall flu-like sick feeling. It was bad enough that I genuinely struggled to function normally.
I ended up vaping again and the symptoms improved which makes me think nicotine withdrawal was playing a big role.
I really want to be done with vaping but I’m terrified of going through those physical symptoms again, especially while trying to work and live my normal life.
For anyone who experienced similar symptoms:
How long did the nausea, chills, shaking, and general sick feeling last???
What days were the worst, and when did you start feeling physically normal again?
Did you quit cold turkey or gradually taper down?
Did nicotine patches, gum, or lozenges help prevent the physical symptoms?
If you tapered, how slowly did you do it?
I’m especially interested in hearing from people who were heavily dependent on 5% nicotine vapes.
I know quitting won’t necessarily be comfortable, but I want to find a way to make it manageable enough that I can actually stick with it. Any experiences or advice would mean a lot. ❤️

Reassurance 36 hours in.

I am thankful today that the majority of the phisical reaction for me is basically over. This being said the yesterday's want to vape just to get rid of the bad phisical reaction is just being replace by a mental internal screaming in my brain. Until about a hour ago actually I was feeling just fine. I understand my brain is just now really wanting nicotine and is screaming due to a lack of dopamine but my goodness. The first few hours this morning was a false sense of security and I guess I would just like a little reassurance that this will get better. This is my first time actually trying to quit after 12 years of heavy nicotine use in general and I guess im just currently struggling. Lot of stuff going on this weekend for me and being my brain knows this, I am trying to justify quitting the quit just so I have a "normal" weekend. I realize it is all in my head but I am already tired. I kept my devices being i was thinking it would actually be easier to just go and purchase a disposable then to use my own willpower and I beleave this still to be true however im tired. Words of encouragement would be appreciated by me.

Success Story 1 month vape free!

I had a little 2 day relapse in the middle, but I got back on track pretty quickly, throwing out the vape I bought. The 1 month doesn’t include the 2 days! Honestly, I don’t really “crave” it anymore. I just like WANT it sometimes but I’m perfectly fine with not having it. My health has improved a lot.

Advice Friends who vape when you’re quitting?

I have a very small friend group (3 people) and they all vape heavily.
I want to stay vape free this time around (officially 1 week in, again).

The temptation is real to ask for their vapes, because I know they’ll give it to me. They don’t want to quit and frankly won’t. I’ve relapsed 2x before.

My bf and his friends (much larger group) don’t vape, and I enjoy their company. I especially like that they don’t vape 😅.

How did you manage temptations in general situations where vaping is accessible to you? Friends? Social settings? TIA!

Advice Day 3, the anxiety sucks!

Background I’m 23f and have been addicted to nicotine on and off for 9 years.

I wonder what my life would have been like had I not been involved with vaping. All the fights caused by it, the shame, the ANXIETY? Anxiety is the real reason for me quitting this time. I’m going through a breakup and it’s caused me to have server anxiety, ocd, rumination and overthinking. I was kind of addicted to it just using my ex’s vape daily nothing crazy. But when we split I went 3 weeks without it and felt great. But now the past 4 weeks I’ve bought my own due to going to bars and I’ve been sitting here SLURPING on it every second of the day. My anxiety got extremely worse like my chest was always tight and my head would not stop thinking.

So I decided I want to remove nicotine from my life FOR GOOD. Not just 1-2 months like I’ve always done. I want this weight off of me. For my mental health. For my health.

I’m on day 3 to the minute as I’m writing this. The cravings are insanely intense. I’ve binge ate so much yesterday, like a whole box of cheese itz lol. I also had a bad headache. My anxiety and chest tightness was bad and I am perscribed Clonazepam 0.5mg to be used as needed for anxiety and I took it yesterday and that seemed to have helped so much! I plan on just taking another today then not anymore until I really really need it.

I’ve been running in the treadmill trying to sweat it out, taking multi vitamins, and drinking a shit ton of water trying to detox myself.

Advice Quitting today!

My quit starts at 4pm today, when I get paid (I love Monzo). I am going to be using NRT, specifically patches and gum.

I smoked from 13-17 and then quit and began vaping, i then smoked again, alongside vaping, when I was 19-20. I'm now 22 and ready to be done with it, especially with the new tax coming in in the UK.

Any advice?

Reassurance Withdrawal symptoms

I’m officially vape free for 13 days now, after been pretty much on them for maybe 3-4 years, the withdrawal is terrible for me, day 13 and I’m still getting brain fog, bits of anxiety and light heads, does anyone get these symptoms and know how long they take to pass?

It’s stopping me from doing some things like going to the gym, but going back to vaping is not an option, I’m already 13 days deep now no point going back

Success Story Year 4

4 years ago I quit vaping, at the time it was the worst thing ever, but now it is nothing to me.

I even look at people who vape and almost laugh because it looks stupid to me, quitting has changed my life and perspective, I can go anywhere now without having to think or worry about coils, liquid, charge, vapes etc...

BUT... The biggest change for me that I don't see enough people speaking about is the brain. For me it has done amazing things for my mental health, sleep and general health. I feel so much more awake and alert, lower stress levels, my memory is better.

What I'm trying to say to you all is just do it, if you haven't quit just do it. Don't lower the dose, take alternatives, JUST QUIT, cold turkey. Use the fact that you are feeling shit as a positive, you're feeling shit because you are leaving the addiction, and that's a good thing! All of you can do it, and once you've quit, the fact you've overcome a serious addiction is enough to give you confidence.

Happy to answer any questions about quitting.

Advice Switching to nicotine pouches?

Hey y'all, I wanted to preface by saying I've been vaping 50mg salt nicotine for about 8-9 years straight. I just bought my first roll of Fre 12mg pouches, after testing them off and on, liking what I tried. I don't tend to get a buzz from nicotine anymore, unless I've been without a new disposable vape for a few days (and that typically lasts only a few hits). I've noticed I still want to hit my vape, even when I have a pouch in. What I'm trying to ask is: What milligram pouch does someone like me use? I want to stop vaping completely by the end of this year. Should I find something with a bit more strength?

Any advice is welcome.
