What is the student experience studying law/ comm like?
I'm currently in yr 12 and want to study law and commerce but I'm not sure which uni is best/ would be the right fit. I was wondering if anyone had insight into the student support and networking opportunities, and if this has helped you get jobs/ internships? I’ve also seen that QUT has extra credentials compared to UQ, like the practical legal training and triple crown accreditation - has anyone felt a noticeable difference in job applications? I would also appreciate any insight to anything you noticed between qut vs other Brisbane unis because of this
My other options would be uq or Bond university (I have early entry and scholarships) but I would love any advice!

Extension referred to academic misconduct
I submitted a 2-day extension application a couple of days ago due to a medical condition but I was just told it was flagged as being inauthentic and I have no idea why? I'm freaking out a bit because I don't really know what to expect or any reason it could be flagged, does anyone have a similar experience?

ABB122 Exam
I am trying to study for the upcoming ABB122 exam but I am completely lost on where to start. Is the best thing to do just go through all of the lecture and tutorial slides? I feel like there arent many revision resources available for this one.

Where to find High refresh Rate monitors at QUT (GP) thats NOT Esports Arena
Just some context, i am one of those people that can not live with a 60hz monitor, IE: the monitors at the library are unusable to me, so the obvious choice would be to go home and work or go to the esports arena but the arena does not allow you to download a remote desktop software as it is pretty strict and barebones (for good reason), my question is there anywhere on campus where you can study with a better monitor ?, im posting this in hopes of finding something but not expecting much, would really appreciate your guy's suggestions eitherway

Bachelor of Psych
Hey guys,
Not gonna write the full name of the degree, but I’m doing psych, 2nd semester. Is anyone struggling to stay on task? Because I am, especially with nearly 2 weeks till exams start.
Even if it isn’t the same degree, I’d really like to have someone as accountability while we both study.
Mutual location would obviously be either campuses (I’m all at KG though).
Please let me know if you’re interested!

Questions for Bachelor of Creative arts (animation)
For the past week I’ve been looking into the majors and units QUT offers, but I couldn’t decide which major in creative arts I should take (animation or visual arts). My hobby is drawing digitally, however I only draw in an anime artstyle, so I’m worried if my artstyle will make it difficult to pair with.
I’ve read that visual arts leans more into contemporary art, so I feel like that will be a drawback for me, but then there is animation, which leans more into 3D. I particularly enjoy drawing digitally because my preference for that anime artstyle keeps me motivated, and I don’t know if I’ll keep up doing something that won’t be an enjoyable experience for something that I’ll be putting a lot of time and money into.
I’ve thought about how with the 3D modelling aspect, I can bypass it by designing it into a style I prefer, but I’m not sure if that’s allowed.
If anyone does this major, can you tell me about your experiences? I am planning to change around my preference list soon, and I want to know if something like an anime artstyle is allowed

Group Assignment
I’m actually so done with group assignments! why is it that people actually cannot do the fkn work in time or they just make it 1000% more difficult for everyone else!!! I understand people have work and what not but come on, i’m currently waiting on 1 person to complete their section on an assignment due tonight and it’s just so infuriating when everyone else have completed theirs in a reasonable time. But they somehow blame everything else but themselves for the work being done like COME ON BRO.
sorry for the rant but i’m so over it, which there was an option to do it individually instead of having to deal with incompetent people and their AI garbage 😩

Griffith vs QUT vs UNSW for Clinical Exercise Physiology in Australia — Seeking Honest Advice from Students and Graduates,Professional
I’m an international student planning to study Clinical Exercise Physiology in Australia in 2027. I’ve received offers from QUT, Griffith and UNSW, and I’m finding it difficult to decide which university to choose.
I’d love to hear your experiences and opinions on the quality of teaching, clinical placements, ESSA accreditation, job opportunities after graduation, and how well each university prepares students for a career as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist.
If you’re currently studying at any of these universities, have graduated, or work in this field, I’d really appreciate your honest advice. Which university would you recommend, and why? Any insights into placement opportunities and career prospects would be greatly appreciated.

Has anyone taken an 8-unit research course (BIOX7008) during UQ Summer Semester?
Hi everyone!
I'm currently in my second semester of a Masters program at UQ, and I'm planning to take BIOX7008 (Major Research Project & Seminar), which is an 8-unit course, during Summer Semester 2026.
The course is officially listed as being offered during summer, and I've already secured a research project and obtained the required signatures from my supervisor and examiner.
However, I noticed that:
- UQ normally allows a maximum of 6 units during the Summer Semester, and special approval is required to exceed this.
- BIOX7008 is listed on the official UQ course website for Summer 2026, but it's missing from the SCMB Student Hub application dropdown.
I've already emailed SCMB and the Faculty of Science regarding this, but I'm waiting for their responses.
Has anyone here previously completed BIOX7008 or another 8-unit research course during summer?
If so, did you need special approval from the Associate Dean (Academic)? Was it difficult to get approved?
Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through something similar. Thanks!

Complementary studies units for a Communication student?
Hey guys, it’s me again. As a Communication student coming to her 2nd year, I’m a bit lost when choosing complementary units.
As said, I’m studying Communication, majoring in Promotional Communication (which is Comms with some Design units). I enjoy Design and was thinking of doing Game Design as my second major. However, I’m a bit concerned about my skills in coding (I have no experience in this) and my future career.
So what would you recommend I should choose for my 2nd major or complementary studies?

QUT You
Does anybody actually attend the lectures and tutorials for QUT You subjects?? They massively interfere with my work schedule so I'm hoping that I can just not attend them... thoughts? Can I still pass those subjects without attendance?

IGB180 unit delivery
While the unit is listed as internal, the “learning approaches” section says that there is participation in online interactive lectures, with workshops “some” weeks. I was wondering if anyone who’s taken this unit recently can let me know whether the lectures are delivered online or in person, and how often the workshops are? Wondering how much I can do from home
thanks in advance!

ITD201 and ITD 104
Hey can someone help me out with what's actually in these units?
ITD201 mentions altering pre-existing JavaScript code, I have some experience with JavaScript but I'm curious of the level of knowledge needed for the assessment.
ITD104 mentions a "simple, industrial-level programming language" - my assumption is that it's Python. Could someone confirm this for me?
ITD103 says it uses a prototyping platform - is this Figma?
Thanks!

Game design as a second major?
Hey guys, I’m finishing my 1st year at QUT in Bachelor of Communication. I want to pursue Game Design as my second major and have some questions:
- For someone who knows nothing about coding, how challenging would it be for me to learn about Game Design?
- Is there any workshops to take for building up my coding skills?
- For those who had studied in this major, what are your tips and reviews?
Thanks a lot for reading! Have a great day!

Help a poor soul out in the trenches 😭
So I’m an international student and I’m looking into doing a bachelor of engineering my options are between UQ and QUT, QUT offers a 25% schol to me whereas UQ wants me to get Edexcel to send the CSPR to them so they can verify it, then only they’ll inform me if I am getting a scholarship of any sort.
I’m looking into mechanical engineering but people are saying not to cause not a lot of demand in the market.
Please let me know a good path to follow.
Much love.
