DIY Double-Decker Drawer. I modified a standard drawer into a two-layer system using PVC brackets and hinges to fit 200 upcycled boxes.
Here is how I made it:
- The Drawer Modification: I took a standard deep drawer and cut the back panel halfway down. I installed two hinges and an extra wooden board to create the upper moving layer. Everything is put together using plastic PVC brackets.
- The Finish: I painted both bottom layers silver so they reflect light better through the clear plastic boxes. I am also planning to add LED strip lighting soon to make it fully illuminated.
- The Storage Boxes: These are clear plastic boxes from my workplace that get thrown away on a daily basis. I fell in love with them and collected them for a few months.
- Capacity: It perfectly fits exactly 200 boxes. The bottom layer holds about 25 x 4 boxes, and the top layer holds another 25 x 4. It has some serious weight to it, but it works flawlessly and doubles the vertical space!
