So my circuit has a lot of tech debaters so I've had to brush up on Ks even though my partner and I are usually trad debaters. But, im still confused on when we're supposed to respond to them. Basically, if the aff is running a K and they are speaking first, do I respond in the 1NC or give my trad case and then respond in the 2NC. This may be a dumb question but I dont have anyone to teach me and all videos online are for policy so I get confused. Thank you!!

I see THIS on the worst round oat where the opps spent 67% of crossex being aggro af and not responding to shit + no RFD

So, #1 middle school debater in MIFA here, and I have to debate my last states on this garbage ass topic.
Reworded in real terms, "European countries that already don't defend themselves because the United States does it for them should defend themselves even less."
These are the most insignificant nuclear powers in the world, and both sides are just bs. Pro has to prove that anything good happens, and con has to prove something bad happens because NATO, but especially EU NATO, doesn't do shit militarily anyways.

Thanks everyone for the turnout last month!
We had a very successful drive, with 100s of pages of blocks, cases, briefs, etc. You'll be added in 1-2 days after you submit.
Happy debating!

Hi all,
Ive made quite a few prep drives, but once again here are some submission rules:
Only prep for this topic (PF Nocember 2026)
Blocks are preferred, but we accept cases and briefs too (especially for this trash topic, everything counts)
Email if you have any issues!
I know i had some issues getting back to people for septober, but the issue with my google drive has been fixed!

I need help making a constructive for the pro and con side for the septober topic. This is my first debate tournament and I have a bunch of research but don’t know how to format it into a constructive for a tournament. Any example constructive for this issue pro(Enviornment) and con(not sure yet) would be appreciated.

As ive been researching abt this topic, ive realized the aff is basically cooked. My idea was to bscly run nukes are bad, but are there any other arguments out there that isn't generic?

I am so thrilled to announce my newest venture into creating accessible resources for competitive speech and debate: self-paced, asynchronous, online courses where new coaches and students can learn the fundamentals of speech and debate from scratch! You can join my google classroom and access my first course called “Debate Basics” for free!
https://classroom.google.com/c/ODI2NDIzNzc5MDk3?cjc=lublurxa
The first unit of this course is called “Fundamentals of Argumentation”, and it is finally done! This course will remain free indefinitely to try and make getting started in debate more accessible to all members of the speech & debate community.
This unit contains 10 lessons that walk students through the fundamentals of argumentation. Each lesson includes a hook/attention grabber, a video that I recorded teaching the basic concepts, links to supplemental readings/watchings, a google form assessment check or understanding, and a google doc activity/assignment to complete. The 10 lessons cover the following topics:
Lesson 1: Argumentation 101 — What is an argument?
Lesson 2: Cogent & Fallacious Arguments — How do I make strong arguments, and avoid making weak ones?
Lesson 3: Researching Arguments — How do I support arguments with evidence?
Lesson 4: Contention Arguments — How do I structure main arguments in a debate?
Lesson 5: Refuting Arguments — How do I answer arguments in a debate?
Lesson 6: Refuting Contention Arguments — How do I answer main arguments in a debate?
Lesson 7: Frontlining Arguments — How do I defend my arguments in a debate?
Lesson 8: Weighing Arguments — How do I compare arguments in a debate?
Lesson 9: Making Arguments — How do I make arguments in an actual debate?
Lesson 10: Evaluating Arguments — How do I judge arguments in a debate?
By the end of this unit, students should have a grasp on arguments as they relate to competitive debate. The next unit, fundamentals of debate, will get into concepts more specific to debate itself, such as cutting cards, cross-examination, and flowing. This unit will also be free for all to access once it is complete.
My hope for this course is threefold:
First, that new coaches who didn’t do debate in middle school, high school, or college, will finally have somewhere they can go to learn the basics for free.
Second, that students who are unfamiliar with debate concepts will be able to learn the basics of debate without needing to pay for expensive private coaching, organizational memberships, or brief subscriptions. Especially students with newer coaches who don’t know all of this information themselves, or are spread too thin to be able to provide one-on-one instruction.
Third, that teachers who are overworked can take these lessons and incorporate them into their own curriculum to make teaching debate to a wide variety of students at different experience levels more doable.
My plan is to eventually create courses for each main event (and even some supplemental events, if there is interest) that the NSDA does. These courses would be paywalled so that I can afford to continue to dedicate the amount of time to creating them that this labor of love requires.
Please try out this course, and let me know what you think! Thank you for your support, and I hope this helps people out!

My new topic lecture for the November/December 2026 Public Forum debate topic about European NATO member ratification of the TPNW is out now! This topic is...hard to research, lets just say that. So I hope this gives you and your teammates or students a good starting point!

Over the course of the last few years, we have seen a massive rise in progressive and squirrelly substantive positions. With this recent rise, the biggest guaranteer of success has been prep and coaching. At the TOC, every team that quartered had one if not multiple coaches. As debaters that have a background coming from a big substance prep team and are self taught in progressive argumentation, we feel our skills can help take yall to the next level. One of the biggest benefits comes from the fact that you would be getting two coaches at the same rate, increasing not only prep output but also availability, and the fact that we are currently debating and coached from top policy programs. We are thinking of creating a coaching group, similarly to a prep group, which would help solve the disparity in ground between small and big programs. DM if ur interested --- we are aiming for teams in the silver TOC level as we want the abilities between members to be similar. Debating success -- ranked top 10 in the country, octoed TOC, won states, semied + top seed at a few tournaments. Coaching success -- winning MS TOC, took debaters from 2-4 to 4-2 records, almost every team we have coached is now consistently breaking at tournaments.
