LOOKING FOR BUDDIES Anyone want to study Operating Systems or System Programming together?

Hi everyone!

I'm a Computer Science student in Italy, looking for someone to study and work through exercises with. I'm in the Italy time zone (UTC+1, CET/CEST) and have a flexible schedule, so we can arrange study sessions depending on our availability.

I can communicate in English, so language shouldn't be a problem!

I'm currently studying concurrent programming in Python, and I'm also covering Bash and Perl scripting, although the scripting part doesn't have to overlap. I'm at the university-study stage and looking to strengthen my understanding through practical exercises and discussion.

If you're studying Computer Science or Computer Engineering, you may have come across similar topics in courses such as Advanced Systems Programming at the University of Denver or Concurrent & Distributed Systems at George Mason University, or you might simply be interested in these topics for personal learning.

I'd love to compare solutions, discuss tricky concepts, and help each other understand the material better. We don't need to follow the exact same syllabus or be at the same stage, as long as we have some topics in common.

My goal is to find a study buddy with whom I can regularly practise, exchange ideas, and work through challenging exercises. If you're interested, feel free to comment below or send me a Reddit chat message!

LOOKING FOR BUDDIES Looking for a Creative Coding Buddy!

• Upvotes

Hey everyone! I am looking for a coding buddy to learn, share ideas and build projects together with, as I have recently started my coding journey by learning Python on Microsoft Learn and now onto Part 2 of the fundamentals.

First of all, I am on SAST time or (UTC +2) and with that I will be flexible and defs figure out a time to work with the other.

Currently I am learning Python programming, but other ventures afterward would be C++, Go, and for web development JavaScript, HTML (familiar with since I learned it in school) and CSS in the future. I will be studying for a B. IT in Software Engineering next year for 3 years, but I have been learning and enjoy it. My experience level is beginner, but I don't mind somebody who is also beginner to learn and study with or even more advanced coders who don't mind teaching.

My goal is to meet someone who is enthusiastic about coding and wants to also have a creative outlet, experiment with different techs and build projects on shared interests. If you love video games, that will also be quite great since I have crazy interest in them, and I would love to be learn the coding behind them. Importantly I am looking for a buddy to collaborate with.

Do feel free to DM me if you do not want to comment.

Making a small educational programming group

Timezone: CST
Stack: All (There is no need to stick to one language)
Experience level: Advanced
Goal: Create humanitarian coding projects

I am looking for a small group of people to make Christian coding content(3-4 people), like a programming studio. Examples include language learning of the Bible, video games in wholesome family friendly themes, IDEs, mods, game engine components, maybe geospatial work if you are inclined. I am an older 34 year old male and have been relentlessly studying Computer Science for 8 years, I am much better than someone who has been doing it 8 years.

I seek advanced programmers who are wholesome and either believe in the Christian content or can truly get behind it.

I can teach AI, how to read/write research papers, teamwork, but my main requirement is that you have actual background in Computer Science as without that you can't really do much.

I feel that is not an unreasonable request given there are plenty of CS majors who have not caught up to AI.

The way its going to work is we brainstorm good humanitarian projects and work together to create them one at a time as a hobby for our actual SWE jobs to keep up with the market.

You will have to pay for your own AI tokens though. I have Claude/ChatGPT Max plans. We can pool them(Yes there are ways to pool subscription plans) if either one of us runs out.

OFFERING TO MENTOR I did ML research at MIT(USA). Now I'm offering 1:1 mentoring in Python internals, ML and LLMs for engineers with 10+ YOE

Most senior engineers I meet know the rules. Very few know the machine underneath. That gap is what I help close, 1:1.

Here's a taste of the questions we go deep on:

1. Python.

class A:

def f(self): pass

a = A()

print(a.f is a.f) # False

print(a.f == a.f) # True

The same method, on the same object, is not itself. Why?

2. ML: Attention divides by √d_k before the softmax. Why the square root? What breaks if you divide by d_k instead?

3. LLMs: Without positional encodings, a transformer can't tell "dog bites man" from "man bites dog." What property of attention causes that?

If you couldn't fully explain all three, you're not behind. You're exactly who I enjoy working with.

Why this matters now: vibe coding feels like 10x until it breaks in prod and the model isn't on call. You are. AI multiplies understanding, and 10x of zero is still zero.

Who I am: I did ML research at MIT under Prof. John Tsitsiklis, worked as a software engineer, and I'm in the top 0.2% on LeetCode. For two years I've mentored senior engineers, tech leads, architects and PMs with 10 to 15+ years of experience, mostly in the US, some at the biggest firms in tech.

How I teach: No tutorials. Mental model → internals → edge cases. If your answer is almost right but conceptually wrong, I'll find the exact crack. The goal is that you could re-derive it yourself.

---

Timezone / availability: Based in the US(PDT), and I travel regularly between India, and the UK, so I adapt quickly to your timezone. US, UK and European hours all work.

Stack / languages: Python (down to CPython internals), machine learning, LLMs, data structures and algorithms, system design.

Experience level: ML research at MIT, software engineering experience, and two years mentoring engineers with 10 to 15+ YOE.

Goal: To mentor experienced engineers (10+ YOE) who want to deeply understand Python, ML or LLMs, or make a career switch such as SWE to ML.

---

Mentoring is 1:1, and I take a small number of people, usually senior engineers with 10+ YOE. Comment or DM me with your background and what you want to go deeper on.

Think you know the answers? Drop them in the comments. I'll tell you whether your mental model holds.

Looking to connect with fellow builders in Mumbai / Navi Mumbai

Hey everyone!

I'm a first-year Computer Engineering student from Navi Mumbai, and I'm looking to connect with people who enjoy building things outside of college.

I'm really interested in AI, app development, product design, hackathons, ideathons, and experimenting with new ideas. I've worked on projects using AI-assisted development, and I enjoy taking an idea from a rough concept to an actual working product.

I'm hoping to find a few like-minded people who would be interested in:

* Participating in hackathons and ideathons together.

* Building side projects and experimenting with AI.

* Sharing ideas, learning from each other, and improving our skills.

* Eventually working on more serious products if we collaborate well.

I'd especially love to meet people who enjoy taking initiative, exploring new opportunities, and actually building things rather than just talking about them.

I'm preferably looking for people around Navi Mumbai or Mumbai so we can meet and work together in person, but I'm also open to online collaboration.

You don't need to be an expert or know every technology. Whether you're into backend development, AI/ML, frontend, Flutter, UI/UX, or product building, I'd be happy to connect as long as you're genuinely interested in creating things.

If this sounds like you, feel free to comment or DM me with a little about yourself, what you're interested in, and anything you've been working on recently.

Would be great to meet some fellow builders and see what we can create together!

Accountability Partner Required | Company Switch in next 4-5 months

Hi, I am 24M, software engineer, working in a service based company in Gurgaon. Desparately want to make a switch in next 4-5 months. It has been close to 3 years I have been working in my company as a frontend developer (tech stack: ReactJS, React Native, NextJS).

I want to make a switch to some product based company.

Looking for a serious accountability partner as ambitious and desperate as me. I just want that we ask each other atleast once a day that- did we worked today towards our goal, no matter 1%, 2%, 50%, or 99%, or did we just even crawled towards it ? That's enough. Apart from this I am open to all help and resource sharing.

Just little bit more about me: I feel I have ADHD (not sure, not diagnosed either). I believe in astrology (thanks to one of my friend for making me believe in it). "Rahu" dearly loves me becuase of which I keep thinking and never do what needs to be done. Maybe we body double and help each other to get what we dream of.

I don't want to create a group. Just 1-2 people who are really dying like me would be great to connect. I'll try to reply asap to your responses.

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, drop a comment or DM me. I'm happy to connect!

Thanks for reading. 🙂

Looking for a DSA study buddy in Noida, India (in-person)

Hey! I'm a Python dev with around 3 years of experience, currently working from home.

I've been wanting to get serious about DSA for a job switch, but I struggle with studying consistently on my own. I tend to get distracted at home and end up not putting in as much focused effort as I'd like to.

Looking for someone who's in a similar boat and wants to get serious about DSA too. Not looking for a tutor or someone to teach, just someone to sit and study with so we can keep each other accountable.

The idea is pretty simple: sit together for a couple of hours, solve our own problems, and maybe discuss what we got stuck on or learnt afterwards. I've studied DSA before, so I'm not starting from scratch. I just think having someone study alongside me would make it much easier to stay consistent.

I'd prefer studying in person, maybe at a coworking space or some other quiet place nearby. Since I already work from home all day, getting out of the house to study would be nice too.

Timing-wise, weekday evenings after 7 pm work for me, and I'm flexible on weekends, especially mornings.

I stay near Sector 104, Noida, so someone nearby would be ideal. If you're in a similar situation and this sounds good to you, feel free to DM me! :)

NEED A TEAM Building a Serious Long-Term Software Project – Recruiting Dedicated Developers

Hey hey hey

I'm a second-year Computer Science student looking to assemble a small, dedicated team of developers to work on an ambitious, long-term software project.

I've been programming primarily in Java and have experience with data structures, algorithms, and software development. I've worked on individual projects, but now I want to build something significantly bigger with a team of people who take development seriously.

I'm looking for

  • Developers with a solid understanding of at least one programming language.
  • People who are passionate about programming and problem-solving.
  • Individuals who can collaborate, communicate clearly, and take responsibility for their work.
  • Developers who can consistently dedicate some time each week.
  • People interested in long-term collaboration rather than joining for a few days and disappearing.

You don't need to be a professional developer or have years of experience. What matters is your ability, motivation, and willingness to contribute.

Send me a DM containing:

  • Your programming languages and technologies.
  • Your experience level.
  • How many hours per week you could realistically contribute.
  • What interests you about joining a team like this.

I'm hoping to meet developers who want to go beyond basic projects and build something substantial together.

Looking forward to hearing from you !
