My Prius C is getting close to 190,000 miles. I recently replaced both the hybrid battery and the 12V battery, and Iâd like to keep the car running reliably for as long as possible.
What maintenance, inspections, or simple repairs would you recommend at this mileage? Iâm especially interested in things I can check or do myself, plus anything worth having a mechanic inspect.
Are there any Prius câspecific issues I should watch for? And for those of you past 200k, what has helped yours last?
Thanks!

This started today. Anyone have any idea of what could be causing it? I have a 2015 Prius-C.

I found a 2013 Prius. 4900 head gasket replaced/battery replaced and balances/ brakes done also. Service records are all up to date.
208,000 miles
I'm going to look into it. I think it's a great grab for my son who drives to school everyday (50 minutes one way)
Thoughts?

Got all the right parts from Yakima per their website: baseline towers, Baseclips 135 and 179 for front and rear, respectively.
All my M measurements are spot on per their website and this is how they installedâŚ. Not a lot of purchase.
Some images show the feet spanning the channel(I know my rubber is missing. Is the missing rubber the issue? Should I take the towers in half an inch on each side to let them rest solidly on the roof?

Thoughts about dealerships that sell the Prius with a 3 month/3000 miles warranty. All vehicles come with their hybrid batteries, engines, and transmissions coverage.
These range from 2010-2014
What things should I look out for?

This is a 2015 model purchased at 78.000 km (48k miles) in Chile. I want to know where that noise may be coming from and how to deal with it.

This summer I am converting my prius C into a car camper for two while we road trip the country. Anyone have any experience with this/ tips and tricks? We plan on removing the back seats (to give us a bit more head room) and building a bed frame in the back of the car for ourselfs with our gear under the bedframe and use our camping mats ontop for sleeping.

Back in July I purchased a used 2013 Prius C 3 with 129K miles on it. It threw the dreaded P0A80 code on the way home from the dealership. I replaced the hybrid battery and the car has been driving fine since. Well, today the alert came back on so I pulled over and scanned for codes and scanned the battery and everything seems to be in working order. Block 10 read low but when I scanned again a few minutes later 10 was up and 5 was low. I'm not really sure what could be wrong.
Edit: replaced block 10 and the car is running great again. (Although, now block 2 is a little low, so I will be keeping an eye on that)

2013 Prius Gen 3 Engine Code
My 2013 Prius had a check engine light. Dealer performed check engine and noted code p0171
p3191 and p3190 per tsb repair recommend replacement of
purge vsc and reprogram the ecm.
The repair quoted:
Labor $268.50
Parts: $192.00
Does this seem correct and/or a fair price?
Iâm a Prius novice.
Thanks, Joe

My wife has a 2014 Prius C (2) and I want to upgrade the standard radio to one with GPS nav. Where can I find one of those and how can I get it installed?

I have a 2015 Prius C 3. I installed fog lights and found the plugs down there for the lightsâŚbut when I pulled the trim by the driver side door to install the switch, I didnât see the connector behind the false button cover.
But in the center console when I pulled that, I did find this other plug plugged into the dead spot. But itâs not the same connection type as my switch for the fog lightsâŚIs that a heated seat connector?
I guess my question is two fold:
1) is there a wiring harness plug already there for those fog lights since they had the connections for the lights (4th pic)
2) what is my false button in the center console supposed to have been? (Pics 1-3 show the connector type and the buttons I do have and the false one)

Hey all! My beautiful 2012 c lives outside in New Orleans and gets driven a couple times a week, tops.
Iâm finding lately that the hood doesnât pop up all the way when I open it, and the hatch is also pretty sticky. Hatch opens with a little pulling, and I can fit my hand under the hood to get it open.
Anyone else have this issue, and if so, howâd you get things un-stuck? The trend isnât good and I especially donât want my hood to not open.

Good evening, I drive a 2013 Toyota Prius. When I push in the pedal and it shows the green key icon on the screen, and I push the start button, most of the time my car starts fritzing out (spelling Ik :( ) and i have to disengage the pedal, repress it and let it make this long like buzzing/machine noise in the front, then push the button when itâs done making the noise and THEN it will turn on normally. Iâm attaching a video to see if anyone knows what this is or is familiar with it. It wonât let me put 2 videos, but the second one itâs the car popping up the âPâ for park and it appears and disappears and makes almost like a âblinkerâ noise but I can hear the car trying to engage something?

New to me 2014 Prius C, started having intermittent keyfob and starting issues so I figured the 12v was failing
Got a replacement and got down there... and saw this little situation going on with the negative cord which im sure wasn't/isn't helping anything lol
Never replaced a battery terminal before but watched a few videos and it looks fairly easy so I guess that's what I'm doing tomorrow!

âToyotaâs ownerâs manual says the front fog light is not a conventional user-replaceable bulb; if an LED fails, Toyota recommends replacing/service of the fog-light assemblyâ
is it true that the ownerâs manual states this?

My 2014 Prius C was lost to the rust of coastal New England. I have a set of snow tires on rims, 14 inch. Michelin X-Ice tires. The rims are steel and have surface rust. The tires still have plenty of tread and life and are fantastic even in accumulating snow. Offered Free to anyone who wants them and can pick them up in Rhode Island.

i started hearing the sound about a day ago which feels like itâs coming from right under my seat, my check engine and tire pressure lights have been on for a while because of other issues. itâs a very very faint scraping noise as the car rolls, and then a clunk clunk sound every few rotations of the tires. the clunk sound happens more frequently the slower i go as well. nothing is hanging down except a pipe which hangs slightly lower but is nowhere close to the ground or anything. my mechanic told me my calipers had an issue which causes my car to shudder when i brake, but this started just this week. itâs a 2008 hybrid prius with about 120k miles on it.

I preface this by saying I am very new to car maintenance. I am trying to faithfully follow every piece of DIY media I use but I am paranoid of potentially messing something up or whatever I follow missing a critical step. That said, I dont think I have seriously beefed anything.
Recently, I replaced my tansmission fluid. Car is currently at 125,000 and likely has not had the fluid changed prior as it is a "lifetime" fluid. Everything I read said that replacing it is not an issue considering how this transmission is set up, replacing fluid that old wouldn't cause unexpected issues. I may have slightly underfilled the first time, perhaps not being on level enough ground. I end up putting in around 3.2 L of Toyota ATF World Standard until it began to come out the fill hole. I test drove it around and listened and noticed a very quiet, high pitched whine on the highway. All told I did maybe ten miles of driving. Jacked it back up, got a level out and made it as level as I could without putting it on a professional lift. Managed to get another .25L in, so just shy of the 3.5L capacity in the manual + minor spillage. Still though, I am hearing the whine.
It fades in an out. The "loudest" it seems to get is around 60mph, just at the start of the second half of the Eco line where the engine starts to kick in. The other "loudest" is when I am decelerating from a high speed. This is different from the distinct sound the regenerative brakes make.
As far as I can tell there have been no immediate issues. When it was slightly underfilled I thought there might be a touch of difficulty accelerating, but it was either imagined or is now fine after top up as it accelerates as expected. MPG has not dropped and no error lights have thrown, but based on when the noise occurs I cant think it is anything other than the Transmission.
While doing this maintenance, I also replaced the coolant (with Toyota Super Long Life) and a fender splash shield in the driver front wheel well (the last one was ripped up in an accident before I bought the car). The replacement is slightly flimsier material, but does have the cotton padding material for sound dampening the original had. That is all of the maintenance that occured the day I heard the noise.
Prior maintenance (last 2 to 3 weeks) includes a wheel hub assembly replacement on the rear passenger wheel, oil+filter, and new spark plugs. And I guess a new touchscreen radio if this is somehow some sort of electric whine?
Any idea what exactly could be the cause of this whine? Is it something that needs to be immediately addressed, or the benign result of the gears moving through cleaner fluid? Any advice is appreciated, and if any additional details are needed I will try my best to supply them.
