Anyone in Prince Rupert had their mail stolen - mail that they were expecting to receive - or mail that they sent out that never arrived at the intended destination/address?

This past summer I sent several envelopes/mail to different Prince Rupert destinations/addresses - some sent via registered mail and some sent via regular mail - all included Visa prepaid gift cards - while none of the intended recipients received the mail (including the registered/tracked mail) all gift cards were used at the Prince Rupert 7-Eleven (Visa provided location, dates, times of use) - obviously the mail arrived to Prince Rupert and was intercepted.

Is something going on at Prince Rupert Canada Post and Prince Rupert 7-Eleven?

The Pacific Salmon Slam is a new fishing challenge in British Columbia.

The concept behind this is a discretionary Pacific salmon conservation fund created for anglers, by anglers. This is a user-funded, voluntary conservation fund delivered as a fishing challenge. This program follows in the success of many similar programs stateside.

The Challenge: Catch any 5 Pacific Salmon in BC waters, earn a Challenge Coin while supporting conservation in BC. The online platform has mini challenges for badges as well: Catch 5 Chinook and earn the King badge. 5 sockeye in freshwater and earn the Kokanee Badge. Catch all species - earn the Master Angler badge.

Why this, why now? Proposed changes to the Salmon Allocation Policy would limit what anglers can give back to the resource. This program not only demonstrates the existing value but also shows that anglers are willing to spend more to maintain access and protect the resource.

Tight lines and good luck!

Any good spots for dinner? I’m solo and went to the No1 Fast Foods Centre for dinner tonight. Hoping for something a little different tomorrow night.

I’ve been looking to talk to people actively seeking (peri)menopause care from either private or public clinics (including online telemedicine) in B.C. I’m interested in, and following, the province’s complex menopause clinic, and wondering how women have been using the clinic so far. I wonder what it's like in Prince Rupert? Or in other rural areas?

Does anyone know where the community corrections office is? It shows on maps that it’s near the museum? Is it one of the offices in the museum?

Hey everyone, I just moved to Prince Rupert for a job and I was looking at getting the windows tinted on my car. Does anyone know any high quality places here? Thanks!

Prince Rupert needs both a large retailer of general merchandise and somewhere to watch movies. I find it hard to imagine that a place poised for growth, which has good-paying jobs centred on the port, has neither. Have any of you heard whispers that new companies plan to enter the market and replace these two long-time anchors of your town?

Hello I am a diesel marine mechanic graduate with some experience not the licensed one. Looking to move to Prince Rupert because of ports and other investments. Do you think prince Rupert is the right place for me to move and by the way my wife is psw. Please give your insight should I move or not or I should consider other places like prince George or Terrace. Thanks Lovely people.

Hi all! I'm visiting with my family from Surrey (40 mins East of Vancouver) and wasn't expecting rain *all three days* we are here! Lol it's just my luck. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do? We didn't bring any hiking rain gear so I'm pretty sure the trails are a no go for us 😟

Hi All,

I'm coming to the community for 4 months and looking for a gym that does month to month, 24/7 would be awesome but would consider an aquatic center too.

Opinions?

Hello lovely Rupert folks. My husband has the opportunity to start a new career in PR and I am wondering how family life there is. We have 2 elementary aged kiddos, how are the schools? Are there some parks for the sunny days? Classes or lesson options like Guides? The pool still cool??

I did get the privilege of growing up there from ages 4-12...so i remember the rain, green wet winters, misty days, but I haven't been there since the 90s. Kid me remembers it as a magical place, adult me wants to be realistic about things, like where do people live? The housing market seems slim. And I see Walmart shut down, where do you get department store stuff like new socks and a frying pan? What are grocery prices like?

Thanks PR! I appreciate all the info :)

Hello good folks of Prince Rupert. Long story short… my nephew who I am raising loves fishing. I’m a fan myself and appreciate he is getting me back into it as I was crazy about it at his age (16) as well.

We went to the Georgian Bay Area bass fishing last summer at a friends cabin and had the vacation of a lifetime. On Wednesday night we were to fly out for a week fishing then a Jays game to cap things off, but today Westjet squashed that plan.

I asked my nephew where he wants to go instead on a road trip (we’re in St. Albert, AB) and he picked Prince Rupert. I’m so excited as I’ve always wanted to see your town.

So please help out a dude looking to give his nephew the best vacation! I booked a hotel August 7 - 11. Where do we go fishing (ocean booking? Shore freshwater? Where can we go?). Where do we need to see? Where do we need to eat? We are so excited….

Hey PR!
I have held onto my old grad dress (for over 15 years 🤦🏻‍♀️) in hopes of finding some use for it, but I’m sick of hauling it around haha. I’m wondering if there is anywhere in town that takes donated dresses for grads who maybe cannot afford a full price dress? Or maybe the high school takes donations?

I ask as part of a linguistic study covering this topic!
Examples could include things like The Rinse, KTown or Ripbum...

Howdy y'all! Visiting today in the big red boat. I'm not sure how deep the water is in the harbor/surrounding area, do orcas or whales swim up here? Or, any other marine mammals for that matter? I have heard there's sea wolves around town lol. Thanks!

Hi all! I’ll be living in Prince Rupert until the end of August and I was hoping to connect with other queer folks while I’m here. Are there any community events/spaces I should know about?

Hi all,

Can anyone help point me in the right direction to get onto a boat for a couple days for a single traveler to tag along with another group or set of travelers? I'm thinking it'll be Wednesday and Thursday to get onto the ocean.

Hi everyone,

I'm likely moving to Prince Rupert for work and have already spent quite a bit of time reading about the challenges of living there, the weather, isolation, Walmart, unsafe water, and so on. I feel like I have a pretty good understanding of the downsides already.

I'd love to hear the other side of the story.

For those of you who enjoy living in Prince Rupert, what makes you grateful to call it home? What are the things that outsiders often don't appreciate until they've lived there? Are there any unexpected positives, favorite places, community aspects, or lifestyle benefits that make you stay despite the challenges? Beside winter sports and hiking, are there any other popular sports available? Soccer? Volleyball?

I'd especially love to hear from people who have lived elsewhere in Canada and chose to stay in Prince Rupert.

Thanks in advance! I genuinely want to get a balanced perspective before making the move.

Is there somewhere in town where I can get garden soil delivered to my place? I'm have some raised bed planters to fill.

Is there any public viewings for World Cup games around Prince Rupert? Just curious. I am not a huge soccer fan, but it would seem like fun.
