That book was awful, glad I didn't pay for it.

8

u/tarinotmarchon 8h ago

I regret buying it. At the time she wasn't openly transphobic, but the book itself was terrible.

11

u/Cocaine_Communist_ 10h ago

This is so sad, she can't even commiserate with her good friend Epstein like she did in 2018.

“Hur dur protesting does nothing”

Sure champ, tell that to the women’s rights movements, civil rights movements, etc. Scamper back to your transphobic cess pit while the adults are talking….

-9

u/Axel_Raden 8h ago

The gall of you trying to use the women's rights movement to defend the radical trans activists when they are trying to strip biological women of rights that the women's rights movement fought so hard to get.

10

u/WasabiLiving6465 8h ago

Transphobia hurts cisgender women.

Also, your understanding of biology is that of a 3rd grader.  I am a phenotypical woman who has birthed a child. I also have chimerism which means I have both xx and xy DNA depending on what part of my body you sample.

Guess you’d call me a man 🙄 Get wrecked ‘phobe

She's dedicated her influence and her money to trying to manipulate legislation to further her agenda. Even if it's hopeless people tend to what to do something.

11

u/Bussamove86 12h ago

Protesting tie detestable woman who is actively contributing to the eradication of trans people is good, actually.

Sorry you’re a terrible person.

2

u/luxisdead 7h ago

She's our Anita and deserves a pie in the face too.

u/InspectionNormal 9h ago

Protest!!!!!!

7

u/Pleasant-Leg-4764 7h ago

Really don't get the love for those books, totally pish writing, really sad that this commercial drivel has even got to print.

-7

u/RichardCoreyOhio 6h ago

What an insane opinion based on the dislike of a person

6

u/Silly_Ape 6h ago

What an insane opinion! Not liking Harry Potter!? Everyone hvo doesn't love Harry Potter is insane! What an insane concept to not like that series of books, or the author! Insane!

7

u/Time_Raisin4935 9h ago

Good. I was once an HP fan... Then I grew up and got wiser.

And started to realize Rowling has some severe, unresolved Daddy issues.

Boiling women down to their vaginas is pretty misogynistic.

-6

u/deegandnb 7h ago

No one besides you mentioned genitalia.. I was actually "boiling" them down to their chromosomes with biological and scientific facts

8

u/Digit00l 6h ago

Fun fact: recently a man discovered he was genetically female after he had to have his DNA tested for some unrelated reason, he also has a perfectly healthy daughter that he had with his wife

-1

u/deegandnb 6h ago

Fun fact: claims need sources

7

u/BornPhotograph6048 7h ago

You suffer from severe dunning kruger effect

Instead of "but chromosomes" why don't you look into people who develop with traditionally female characteristics but have XY chromosomes (or another combination, because, guess what? XX and XY are not the only available combinations, ironically enough, just gave YOU a "biological and scientific fact")

Anyway - it's pretty misogynistic to reduce women down to chromosomes like they're walking chromosomes and nothing more, you didn't make a good clapback at all

-5

u/deegandnb 6h ago

Being able to know and identify the difference between biology and identity isnt misogyny.

But throw around terms you've learnt to repeat you think makes you sound smart

Sex is a spectrum 😂

7

u/Time_Raisin4935 8h ago

whatever helps you sleep at night

If anything, it's Rowling who hates women. She suffers from Internalized misogyny.

And most Terfs like her are almost always white, straight women complaining.

-4

u/Jogurt55991 5h ago

She has some great wit on her twitter though.

5

u/luxisdead 7h ago

A sad world when supporting a type of woman who is marginalized is "hating women"

6

u/Silly_Ape 6h ago

You know nothing about the subject you're talking about.

2

u/deegandnb 6h ago

And you do I'm guessing hahaha

7

u/Silly_Ape 6h ago

I'm a transgender woman. Been on hormones for 3 years. Been out for 5. So yes. I do.

1

u/deegandnb 6h ago

Also then as trans, you would understand that biology and identity aren't the same thing.

But I'm not trans so I can't hold any opinion on the matter, correct?

2

u/Silly_Ape 5h ago

The thing is, if you actually look into the advanced biology, it's actually on trans peoples side. Sure, "biology" and identity are not the same thing. I never said that. The terms "man" and "woman" are not biological terms. That would be XY and XX. So by the sound of what you're saying here, it really doesn't sound like you know much about it, no. You somehow think trans women are "men who try to replace women"? Like that's just very transphobic to say. If only you knew how much I wish I wasn't transgender. But some of us are just born that way.

10

u/Excellent-Run-3282 14h ago

As a teenager I didn't understand the hype behind Harry Potter, it's just boring.... She didn't deserve her fame to start with in my opinion. A million better stories that could have been turned into films too but this rubbish gets big....

7

u/CoreyWinter286 10h ago

Marketability. Its so easy to make merchandise with this franchise, which generates more cash and keeps it in the forefront of people's minds

4

u/4liv3pl4n3t 10h ago

Iirc was Harry Potter just so well recieved (for lack of better words in my vocabulary, pardon my english), because Warner Bros. saw potential in Merchandising with it and thus they pushed it, a lot

0

u/MichelangeloCzech 6h ago

The books were a worldwide hit well before the movies.

6

u/cat-the-commie 11h ago

Fun fact her book is mostly plagiarized from 1950s pulp fantasy (fantasy short stories you'd find in gas stations), and her popularity is almost entirely due to the Scholastic marketing team decision to lie and falsely claim the book promotes literacy. In reality it was poorly plagiarized pulp a century old and pushed by corporations who gladly turned a generation of children illiterate with absolute shit.

-3

u/Material_Magazine989 11h ago

This is your third comment here that sounds like it came from an alternate universe. Echo chambers are scary.

9

u/cat-the-commie 10h ago

You're a creepy stalker lmao

-5

u/Natural_Resort3055 9h ago

Ah yes. As creative works are famously written in a vacuum with no reference or inspiration from earlier work.

2

u/cat-the-commie 6h ago

Yes it is!! Which is why it's so obvious that Harry Potter is meaningless plagiarized slop

-3

u/Undietaker1 7h ago

Fun fact, most of the bible stories are plagiarized too.

Fun fact, you can probably use similies and loose fitting similarities to claim any book is a plagiarized version of an earlier book.

You could probably take literally any modern book and claim it is plagiarizing the Gutenberg bible.

Heck, remember the part in Harry Potter where the centaurs were chasing Harry and Umbridge? Pretty sure that is just derivative of cave man hunting paintings 67000yrs ago.

This invalidating work someone did because you found similarities and you don't like them is dumb.

Do you go check all the writers of every movie and tv show and song you consume as well as every artist from art you enjoys Facebook etc to make sure they are not posting anti trans stuff or stuff you don't agree with?

Hollywood is full to the brim with pieces of shit who make money off the movies they make, do you just not watch movies at all now?

-7

u/Voinat107 13h ago

I think she does. She built am amazing world

4

u/trans-ghost-boy-2 13h ago

her ‘world’ isn’t even just problematic, it’s cringe if you have a media taste beyond that of a fifth grader

2

u/SnooPears8751 12h ago

Sure, but while I'm not particularly a fan of it anymore even besides Rowling being a horrible person, it's only job was to appeal to people in 1st to 5th grade. It's kinda like saying "yeah this shounen anime is kinda trash if you're not a 13-year old boy." Like yeah that's the demographic, it makes sense they'd like it and nostalgia carries a long way. Still not very good but for a lot of people's first fantasy book it does at least that job decently.

0

u/DirectKonjo 7h ago

The person you're responding to has the most childish shit on their profile and is over here judging people like they only like nobel prize winning prose. LOL

0

u/Excellent-Run-3282 13h ago

I'm sorry but it's so dull and unoriginal, you'd literally have to be devoid of imagination and have never been exposed to any fiction to believe that...

2

u/comeherecow 7h ago

So dull and unoriginal it's become a multi-billion dollar industry.

Children around the world haven't heard the thoughts of reddit users yet, I guess.

1

u/An_Arrogant_Ass 10h ago

The world building were wizards shit themselves despite bathrooms being a major plot point of the second movie or the world building where all of Asia has a single wizarding school?

1

u/DirectKonjo 7h ago edited 7h ago

What the fuck does your first part of the sentence mean? People in the real world shit themselves and we have bathrooms too? LOL

-1

u/An_Arrogant_Ass 7h ago

JK said that it is the norm for wizards to walk around soiling themselves and then magic away their waste.

1

u/DirectKonjo 7h ago

I mean, yeah it's fairly dumb but that's not the quote. "Wherever they stood" doesn't mean shitting their pants. It's like shitting on the ground and making the shit disappear. Admittedly not great

1

u/An_Arrogant_Ass 7h ago

Yet bathrooms were a key plot point in the second book. Her random spur of the moment world building contradicts the logic of the narrative.

1

u/DirectKonjo 7h ago

Quote says until the 18th century and the story is in the 20th/21st so it doesn't invalidate the logic of the narrative in the slightest bit at all.

1

u/An_Arrogant_Ass 6h ago

Hogwarts (along with it's bathrooms) was supposedly built between the 9th and 10th century.

-1

u/MichelangeloCzech 6h ago

You people are too blinded by your hatred of Rowling to stop and think before typing.

People IN REAL LIFE back then would do that (just with servants cleaning the floors rather than magic). JK just does magical versions of real things. Like how having different houses in a school is a real British thing.

1

u/An_Arrogant_Ass 6h ago

No, they used chamber pots, but even if they did why did they have a secret chamber built into the bathrooms during the 9th/10th century if the wizards of that time didn't use bathrooms?

0

u/Snoo69744 9h ago

I remember as a tween I got to the 5th one and stopped half way through because of the horrendous pacing

-1

u/ThatLurkingDeafBoy 7h ago

How old are you? If you weren't born in the early 90s, then my answer is obviously you didn't understand it.

-2

u/cpowe1 6h ago

If a book is selling as much as hers did, then it deserves its money just as much as any other book does. Unless your argument is that authors are overpaid. While it may not have been your cup of tea, it certainly has been for millions of fans.

-5

u/Novak316 10h ago

I seriously enjoy her work! I find it very entertaining and am happy to support her if it means she'll produce more

The whole masks thing makes me feel like this is an attempt to make trans activists look like those idiots that threw oil on paintings (but turned out to be paid for by oil companies).

Rowling totally isn’t above fake journalism, that attempt to cancel Pedro Pascal felt as fabricated as the Danny Trejo topic

1

u/Digit00l 6h ago

While it is true one of the Getty heirs supports Just Stop Oil, and the Getty family made their fortune with oil, that doesn't mean the oil industry supports JSO

Sometimes children have very different opinions from their parents, and that specific connection gets overblown to make JSO look worse

Sins of the father is a very weird concept and should be avoided

0

u/NegotiationSad6297 7h ago

So like, do the actors still get paid, or was their big night completely ruined?

Financially supporting astroturfed laws that objectively and recordedly lead to trans children being raped? Not violent

Yelling in a theatre? Violence.

Are we living in 1984?

5

u/Inevitable-Regret411 13h ago

Is rushing onto the red carpet actually violent? Trespassing maybe but from the description here they're not hurting anyone or damaging anything.

-4

u/Voinat107 13h ago

Sending dead threats is. Rowling faced a lot of these for saying lgbtq people shouldn't go in women's bathroom

5

u/Cocaine_Communist_ 10h ago

She's just so desperate to be a victim lmao

7

u/villainess_lena 12h ago

Well, at least you're now admitting that it's not just trans women but all lgbtq+ folks that you want to erase from public life.

4

u/cat-the-commie 11h ago

Link the court case

1

u/Inevitable-Regret411 12h ago

I presume you meant to say trans people? Otherwise I'd question where all the lesbians and other LGBT women should go if not the women's lavatory?

2

u/Snoo69744 9h ago

As opposed to people who don't want love and respect????

-1

u/PHD_Gouda 12h ago

Serious question, doesn’t everyone want love and respect?

-10

u/De_Dominator69 12h ago

Honestly I am kinda tired of how divisive and black and white everything has to be made.

Not condoning or defending Rowlings views of trans people, it's not okay. But some people take that and then act like she is worse than Hitler, despite her having done some genuinely good charitable work especially around women shelters for domestic abuse etc.

We can protest and criticise her for her views of trans people without dismissing her other work and definitely without making her out to be some massive murdering monster. But... I appreciate it's 2026 and nuance is unacceptable for many people nowadays.

14

u/Golurkcanfly 10h ago

They don't protest her views. They protest the fact that she bankrolls a hate movement based on extreme versions of those views.

16

u/RavenGirlfailure 11h ago

That women shelter was also only a reactionary move made with the intent of excluding trans people. All her "feminist" work is based on transphobia as the building block.

0

u/[deleted] 11h ago

[removed] — view removed comment

8

u/Cocaine_Communist_ 10h ago

She closed a shelter that included all women so she could do her transphobia. She falsely claimed that trans and queer people weren't targeted by Nazis (something that I am legally not allowed to call Holocaust denial because I live in the UK). She poured billions of pounds into the campaign against Scotish independence. She pushed for transphobic laws that have already harmed trans people, along with normalising transphobia and emboldening transphobes to harrass trans people in the UK (including myself, my family, and my friends).

It's going to take years to undo the damage she has done, and she's still actively doing damage. Anyone defending her is complicit.

8

u/RavenGirlfailure 10h ago edited 10h ago

I think you are not very smart and should do things that are not cringe.

And everything you mentioned again has its basis as being anti-trans. You just do the annoying motte and bailey dance you people always do.

Shelters

Beira'e place which was created to replace the trans inclusive shelter with an exclusive one

lawyers for women

lawfare against trans women using bathrooms,

countless other charities

Nothing statement

Lgbt causes

LGB alliance is not an LGBT cause, its a queerphobic hate group full of cishet old people

-9

u/vince2423 10h ago

Good, there should be exclusive shelters

No, lawyers for women going thru divorce

Learn to Google

Neat, you picked one that doesn’t cater to the whims of the trans community, ‘nOtHinG StAteMent’

I think you should stfu and fuck off

7

u/RavenGirlfailure 10h ago

No, I dont think I will. I will continue to use every female space and thrive.

Stay mad, cissoid.

6

u/EarthToAccess 11h ago

And again, all of which were made to places that exclude trans people, if you read. Get fucked, our existence is not up for debate.

You really are just an awful person, arnt you.

3

u/Snoo69744 9h ago

Why is it so hard for you to see why JK is doing this? You're just choosing to be ignorant.

"real women" you can't be serious.

-2

u/vince2423 8h ago

Solid deflection, way to avoid answering the question.

I’m 100000% serious

-4

u/bigboulderpunch999 9h ago

Did she close any other trans-friendly shelters in the meantime?

Your existence isn’t threatened by one open shelter that doesn’t include you.

6

u/Golurkcanfly 8h ago

She campaigned to close down an existing shelter unless it began to exclude trans women, and then funded lawfare and a hate movement that made it legally required for rape shelters to exclude trans women unless they also included cis men.

-2

u/bigboulderpunch999 8h ago

I can’t find anything on her campaigning to close any existing shelters. Got a link?

5

u/Golurkcanfly 8h ago

You mean the repeated calls to shut down Rape Crisis Edinburgh if it didn't kick out trans staff and service users?

It's small potatoes compared to the fact that all these services are now required to exclude trans women because a bunch of bigots couldn't handle the thought of possibly peeing in the same restroom as one.

-2

u/bigboulderpunch999 8h ago

You mean the dispute over the shelter failing to provide a single-sex safe space for women to the point where women were actively self-excluding?

She was calling for the CEO to step down, and they even issued an apology. She wasn’t “campaigning to get the shelter shut down”.

Tell me, why should women be declined a single-sex safe space? Note I said sex, not gender, which I have been assured by activists are two very different things.

Why do women’s rights end there?

6

u/Golurkcanfly 8h ago

Someone choosing to not go to a service they are being provided is not the same as a service being legally required to exclude others who quite literally have the paperwork that says they are of the female sex for all purposes under law. It's no different than a racist choosing to self exclude because they might have to share a building with someone of a different skin tone.

Transsexuals change sex. Why do you deny transsexual women their rights simply because you hate them?

You know you're entirely disingenuous, so why keep up the charade?

6

u/RavenGirlfailure 10h ago

Statistically you are the likeliest person to abuse your own daughter. So maybe you shouldnt be near her?

8

u/ScyllaIsBea 10h ago

her other work is a very derivitive detective series that has a transphobic caricature that makes it even more difficult to separate the writer from the work and uses a fake name that is the same name of a man who popularized electroshock therapy as a form of conversion therapy for gay people (she has claimed it is a coincidence.) it's actually better to focus on harry potter if you want to defend her.

-6

u/Axel_Raden 8h ago

One of the original pioneer surgeons that did the first what is now called vaginoplasty surgery was a Nazi scientist called Erwin Gohrbandt

6

u/ScyllaIsBea 7h ago

Maybe, but that’s not really a comparison because thevaginoplasty wasn’t invented based on the Nazi ideology and its helpful, electroshock therapy not only isn’t helpful but it was specifically being used in this instance as a direct consequence of a bad ideology. Nazis also helped invent rockets.

-1

u/Axel_Raden 7h ago

It does have ties to eugenics Magnus Hirschfeld and Erwin Gohrbandt were both eugenicists

4

u/ScyllaIsBea 7h ago

I looked him up and I'm not seeing any of that so you will have to provide sources.

5

u/luxisdead 7h ago

She is the modern day equivalent of Anita Bryant in the late 70s except probably worse and laced with some SCUM manifesto flavor.

2

u/Snoo69744 9h ago

You can't praise her other work when she uses the money she makes off it to fund her hate campaign

3

u/cat-the-commie 11h ago

She's donated about a tenth the money the third Reich spent on the holocaust, you can say this all you'd like but no, she is literally trying to be like Hitler against trans women. Her ideal reality is one where trans women are raped to death in concentration camps. Objectively, factually.

If you want to live in lala land because it's 2026 go ahead, but in reality you're supporting a genocidal monster.

-4

u/Material_Magazine989 11h ago edited 11h ago

You guys want to be taken seriously, but unironically comparing Rowling to war criminals who were hauling people off to the mass slaughter of millions has got to be fucking exhausting.

Why do you guys have to make her seem so powerful?

7

u/cat-the-commie 10h ago

"guys" lol

6

u/Snoo69744 9h ago

She's largely responsible for trans people losing the right to be legally recognised as the correct gender in the UK

-5

u/Material_Magazine989 9h ago edited 9h ago

Something that would have happened whether Rowling had a hand in it or not. Legal definition of sex is going to be inevitable especially since it's also health related.

6

u/Snoo69744 9h ago

Not with the same funding and you don't know that for sure anyway. The health argument falls apart when you realise that biological sex in medicine cannot be categorised simply by what you had between your legs as an infant. For example I'm a trans man on testosterone and if female ranges were used on a blood test I could be misdiagnosed with polycythemia or anemia could be missed. Insisting that biological sex is male and female and determined at birth is actually very dangerous from a healthcare perspective but catering to TERF ideology is more important apparently.

-5

u/Material_Magazine989 9h ago

Other than the first part, I don't think any of what you said contradict what I said so I don't really know how to respond to you giving detailed heath issue to a complete stranger.

-5

u/HydroPCanadaDude 11h ago

Cool, I like Harry Potter and all the people who work on it, art directors, actors, etc. I only don't like one of them. My money goes to mostly not-JK Rowling so huzzah!

8

u/cat-the-commie 11h ago

"Yeah my money mostly goes to the child rape initiative to rape children but y'know, I'm not really a pedophile"

Actions speak louder than words

-1

u/Material_Magazine989 11h ago

-7

u/Fabulous_Smoke2582 10h ago

-7

u/cottonopposite 11h ago

Where has she said she wants trans women to be *aped to death in concentration camps?

-5

u/vince2423 11h ago

Bahahahaha not you proving exactly their point 🤣🤣

‘A genocidal monster’ and the fact you ppl believe it is beyond pathetic

-3

u/DemonGroover 7h ago

The world is mad when a screaming leftie like Rowling gets death threats because she says women instead of nonsense like "people who menstrate"

-4

u/shutyourgob16 6h ago

Damn they sure do hate women who don’t submit

-20

u/PuzzleheadedEmu4596 15h ago

Ah, yes, this will surely help trans people and not turn the vast majority of people off in any way, shape or form.

The obsession people have with performative, rankling activism is truly strange.

People calling her a Holocaust denier and Nazi are insane.

I honestly don't know what people want or expect - this seems to be just snark.

17

u/offinthepasture 15h ago

Ah yes, the history of making nicely and gaining rights and recognition is long and well-established.

-4

u/MichelangeloCzech 6h ago

It is, actually. Gay people acting exceedingly normal during the 2000s is why gay marriage became legal.

Meanwhile, the only reason JK Rowling became so against trans people is because insane trans people dogpiled her and sent her death threats because she disagreed with a pretty mild point. If they had just acted normal, she would have stayed mostly silent on the topic of trans people.

→ More replies (2)

13

u/Phobia562 15h ago

She literally has feuded with Holocaust historians over whether trans people were targeted by the Nazis. That would be a Holocaust denier.

-1

u/Material_Magazine989 10h ago

She isn't, but i guess "JK ROWLING IS A HOLOCAUST DENIER" is much catchier than "JK rowling disagreed with someone on twitter that trans people were the first minority the nazis targeted"

She didn't even deny that trans people were targeted. She just disagreed that they were first.

7

u/Cocaine_Communist_ 10h ago

She denied that any trans people were targeted. Rather than admit she was wrong and engaging in Holocaust denial, she threatened to sue the person who called her out on it.

For legal reasons I have to say that JK Rowling is not a Holocaust denier, and that she deserves to continue being alive.

-1

u/Material_Magazine989 10h ago

Yeah it's almost as if you're not allowed to just slander and libel people

8

u/Cocaine_Communist_ 10h ago

It's only libel if it's false. Or if the "victim" has more money than God and can afford to bully people into silence the way she did with Amnesty International.

-1

u/Material_Magazine989 10h ago

It is false. Her words are right there. Did she or did she deny holocaust? She didn't, but you guys want your catchy taglines.

6

u/Cocaine_Communist_ 10h ago

Since I'm in the UK I can't say whether or not she denied the Holocaust. If anyone else used the exact same words JKR used then yes, that would be Holocaust denial.

0

u/Material_Magazine989 10h ago

I'm not from the UK and I disagree.

4

u/Commercial-Shame-335 6h ago

denying known and factually provable things that the nazis did during the holocaust is in fact holocaust denial.

-1

u/Material_Magazine989 6h ago

Except she did not deny anything.

-10

u/PuzzleheadedEmu4596 15h ago

My dude, not everything that the Nazis did was the Holocaust.

And she didn't deny it happened.

12

u/Phobia562 15h ago

She absolutely denied major parts of Holocaust history, making her...a Holocaust denier.

Either you can't read or you don't know 1930s history. The nazi book burnings of may 1933 literally started with burning books on trans healthcare, this started a chain of events that eventually ended with trans people being placed in death camps which she later goes on to deny. Regardless in the comment that you just shared she is referring to this as a fever dream. In germany this comment alone is regarded as holocaust denial as she is denying part of the holocaust.

1

u/PuzzleheadedEmu4596 13h ago

No, I don't think that, the fever dream part refers to people saying that she agrees with the Nazis.

4

From memory the reason she denies that trans people were in the death camps is because the Nazis classified trans women as gay men or rapists and so the records they kept don’t specifically state that trans women were in death camps. She likewise on multiple occasions has claimed that trans women don’t exist and that they are either gay men or rapists. So yes she agrees with the nazis and this was just the most blatant example of her denying the historical horrors that trans people have faced.

u/Material_Magazine989 10h ago edited 9h ago

She never denied the existence of trans women, nor did she call them rapists. These are multiple distortions of her words, compounding one misconception with another.

The rapist comment came from a court argument about whether a female rape victim should be forced to refer to her rapist as "she/her" during court proceedings. Rowling was arguing with someone who said the victim should refer to the accused by their preferred pronouns. Rowling called the person she was arguing with a "rapist protector" for disregarding the victim's feelings and taking the rapist's side.

Obviously, very internet thing to do, they took that and ran away with the tagline "Rowling called trans people rapists."

Rowling did not call trans women rapists. She has said many times that she has a trans woman friend whom she refers to using her preferred pronouns, she/her.

Having a trans friend doesn't mean anything.

u/Amzstocks 8h ago

oh yes the "friend" defence.

You know its funny because i've never come across a bigot who doesn't happen to have a friend belonging to the very group that they so clearly hate. Whether that's racists (black friend),homophobes (gay friend) or in this case transphobes (trans friend). And then (assuming its a real friendship) the bigot always abuses the friendship by using its existence as a way to shield themselves from any criticism of their own bigotry.

Also just look at her twitter she's been saying for years that she doesn't believe in trans women and that they are gay men/rapists/misogynists/perverts.

Ironic when JK is the one with a massive trans obsession. Let's pretend that JKs obsession is valid but being upset about JKs hate campaign isn't. Why should that mean that people are aging all trans people's rights? That makes nonsense.

She literally did deny the fact that trans people were targeted during the holocaust though.

8

u/Fantastic_Deer_3772 15h ago

What's your suggestion, saying pretty please Ms Rowling, don't have an antitrans legal fund?

Also the holocaust stuff is bc she denies that e.g. the raid on the hischfield institute happened.

2

u/PuzzleheadedEmu4596 15h ago

I just Googled that stuff about the Hirschfield institute - which was, yes, a burning of trans and sexual research, but there's so much nuance that you actually seem to be underplaying massive parts of the Holocaust.

The Tweet, I believe in question, was calling her a Nazi. Which makes this an insane circlejerk of people saying "you're a Nazi and also this true thing happened" and then her going "are you insane about calling me a Nazi?" And then people saying that Hirschfield was a trans researcher" and her saying "the guy called for sterilization of the unfit."

I just don't see any of that as Holocaust denial, I see that as someone calling her a Nazi and then her responding with "WTF?"

Moreover, while you see burning down Hirschfield's research as an attack on gay people and trans people, you're correct, but it's also an attack on Jews. Of whom 6 million died in the Holocaust. And it's pretty insulting to call her a Holocaust denier because of that. She doesn't even deny it happened, she just seems to think that it's crazy that people are calling her a Nazi.

What's your suggestion, saying pretty please Ms Rowling, don't have an antitrans legal fund?

I think that it's more complicated than that, and you'd probably have more success if you worked towards your own legal fund to counter hers.

Her funded action impacts on any people reliant on the NHS.

Maybe you should focus on other topics if you're not really paying proper attention? This lib dem waffle isn't very useful to anyone

2

u/Digit00l 6h ago

Ok but like she literally engages in holocaust denilism when she refused to accept the nazis have deliberately target queer research for being queer research and has exterminated queer people for being queer people

They can't stand the fact it's a woman who can't be threatened, bullied or intimidated into silence. They're not used to it and they don't like it.

u/De_Dominator69 11h ago edited 11h ago

It's honestly so tiring, people have decided she is a villain. So therefore everything she does or says MUST be misconstrued to make her more villainous.

We cannot allow nuance and certainly can't miss any chance to not completely demonise and hate on her!

Her views around trans people are not okay, but people take it too far. The ironic thing is that her views were originally far far more tame, the whole original comment that triggered the TERF controversy also had her saying that trans people deserved safety and respect. But people immediately came out and attacked her all guns blazing, and like a lot of people do they get defensive, they try to explain themselves, when people don't listen they get angry so double down and get more aggressive. That's basically what's been happening ever since. People go out and attack her for her views, so in return she becomes more resolute and extreme in those views. It's just a self-perpetuating cycle at this point.

EDIT: Just to clarify she is also every bit as responsible for that cycle. She could have taken a step back at any moment, stopped interacting with people and just ignored the backlash. The main point I guess I intend to make is that all this protesting and discussion just keeps her relevant, at this point things will just keep escalating until she's ignored and made irrelevant.

u/Snoo69744 9h ago

I've been harassed by cis people. I've had them call me a predator, demand nudes, ask graphic questions about my genitalia, yell slurs at me, call me a groomer, etc all for existing as a trans person and guess what? I don't wage a war against cis people because I'm not mental.

Asking JK to stop funding anti trans hate campaigns won't make her stop. She chose to do this of her on accord and anyone sending her hate have nothing to do with her decisions even if what they did was wrong.

u/xavPa-64 17h ago

Ooh they’ve reworked the show? I’ll have to check that out

-19

u/CommentMaleficent957 17h ago

Saying they don’t like her stance or her opinion is one thing. She doesn’t kill, that’s just silly

19

u/KathrynBooks 16h ago

The policies and programs she uses to attack trans people do.

-7

u/CommentMaleficent957 15h ago

She supports policies that say trans people should be killed?

13

u/Fantastic_Deer_3772 15h ago

She supports policies that result in deaths (either in the form of hate crimes, poverty or suicide)

0

u/CommentMaleficent957 15h ago

I wasn’t aware of that, what policies does she support that result in poverty or suicide?

10

u/Fantastic_Deer_3772 14h ago

So for example the supreme court case she celebrated (and had put money towards) has been used as a basis to refuse trans ppl access to toilets, nhs wards, etc, and school guidance to push trans young people back in the closet. This makes trans people hard to employ, hard to provide healthcare to, hard to educate, and as an end result trans people (who were already on average were more likely to be in poverty, disabled, etc) are now significantly worse off. Even the existence of rowlings anti-trans legal fund makes trans people hard to employ, e.g. under the current rules trans men can be legally challenged in both men's and womens toilets - so anywhere without a neutral option is vulnerable to a court case any time a trans employee needs the toilet.

-1

u/CommentMaleficent957 12h ago

I mean there is a pretty long history of having women’s and men’s toilets. Expecting that has to change just to suit your identity is fine for some people and not for others.

Personally it doesn’t bother me who uses what bathroom. But saying that people with a differing opinion causes people to commit suicide is unreasonable:

5

u/Fantastic_Deer_3772 12h ago

Please focus - im not asking for neutral toilets, I'm saying any random person can now take a trans person to court over using a toilet.

School rejection and poverty make mental health outcomes worse, and then new problems with wards are going to make it less likely that a trans person gets e.g. inpatient mental health support if needed.

It's not "people with a different opinion", I don't care what your opinion is, I care whether needing a wee will result in a court case.

Please only reply if you actually read what I'm saying.

1

u/CommentMaleficent957 12h ago

Surely she is not wanting trans people to not be allowed to use any toilet? Is t just that she doesn’t believe you can change your gender and people born as men should use men’s toilets?

If a white person identifies as black should they have access to black scholarships?

7

u/KathrynBooks 9h ago

When you pass laws saying that trans people can't use the bathroom that corresponds to their gender you increase the risk of violence against trans people (and people who aren't gender conforming).

Further your comparison to scholarships doesn't make much sense. A person using the bathroom isn't at all like a person getting a scholarship.

5

u/Snoo69744 9h ago

Can we stop with the race comparison because it's not similar in the slightest? I don't get why people bring it up as some kind of "gotcha" when gender identity is a neurological characteristic and race is a social construct based on certain physical characteristics someone has. A trans person also doesn't choose to identify as a different gender. That's not how it works

6

u/Snoo69744 9h ago

No one is saying that it does. I just want to be able to exist in public without worrying about being kicked out of a bathroom or being assaulted because I'm forced to use a woman's space as a man.

How come the law is being changed to suit TERF ideology?

13

u/GrapefruitFar1242 15h ago

She supports policies that deny Trans people healthcare, she’s best friends with extremists who absolutely think trans people should be eradicated as a group.

I haven’t heard of that. What does it mean? She thinks trans people should t be allowed in hospitals?

7

u/Ok-Forever7812 14h ago edited 14h ago

You are being obtuse and trying to suggest something which isn't being said here.

Her money and influence have gone towards the erosion of acceptance of trans people, which has resulted in pushback on their access to healthcare, in particular transition related but there have been anecdotal reports of trans people suffering from conditions related to their genitalia where doctors have been shy to resolve the issue out of concern it could be seen as or could constitute gender affirming care.

In terms of extremist associates, Helen Joyce is another key figure in the movement who has said

"... that means reducing or keeping down the number of people who transition. That's for two reasons – one of them is that every one of those people is a person who's been damaged. But the second one is every one of those people is basically, you know, a huge problem to a sane world"

This is borderline, and can be interpreted in a number of ways, but stating a trans person is a huge problem to a sane world isn't exactly suggesting their existence is fine, is it?

u/Rude_Ice_4520 16h ago

She's a holocaust denier and mocks rape victims online.

1

u/CommentMaleficent957 15h ago

Really? I have never heard about either of those things. When did this happen?

10

u/Ok-Forever7812 15h ago edited 15h ago

Best guesses, maybe referring to:

The tweet here on the holocaust denial https://www.reddit.com/r/Gamingcirclejerk/comments/1beepz6/jk_rowling_engages_in_holocaust_denial/

She seems to go from "The nazis never did this" to "The nazis didn't do it first." The first is justifiable as a form of holocaust denial, the second is a bit of a weird one as the person she's replying to doesn't seem to assert that (maybe the article does?). Second statement isn't holocaust denial but is still a strange hill to want to die on

Second case, best guess maybe the tweet on this thread?
https://www.reddit.com/r/EnoughJKRowling/comments/1uy05n9/since_beiras_place_is_in_the_news_its_time_to/

Assuming this actually happened and she did have a woman with PCOS call to ask for support and she decided to publicly mock them that's pretty bad. There's no way to prove the person was or wasn't being honest, so you'd imagine the right thing would have been probably not to have posted about it publicly at all. Assuming it happened. She could just be lieing on the internet for clout, who's to say

If she maintains that she believes the nazis never attacked the institute in the 30's and destroyed research that would be holocaust denial.

Even if the person wasn't a woman, she's still mocking a rape victim, theoretical or otherwise... Lacks a lot of class either way.

7

u/Fantastic_Deer_3772 15h ago

She doesn't believe that the raid of the hirchfield institute happened. Idk the specifics of the rape victim situation but probably a trans person.

6

u/Commercial-Shame-335 6h ago

she directly funds organisations who lobby to strip the lgbt community of their rights which directly results in the death of queer people. she is killing people, even if indirectly.

4

u/TrashPandaHobbit 14h ago

She helps take money from the NHS by funding law suits. So yes, she does
