We refer(collectively) to all of our possums as Units. This is the "New Unit" my daughter likes to watch them eat the left over cat food.

She has so completely stole my heart.

i was driving tonight and drove over an opossum on the road. it was dark and didn’t realize what it was until it was too late. but i don’t know if i hit him, because i felt no bump, so i think i drove over it—like he was in between my wheels. still i immediately pulled over and it was laying down and i think it was playing dead but i couldn’t tell.

i was and still am so distraught. i was able to scoop him into a small garbage can that was in my car and i placed him in the grass as far from the road as i could go, but when i went back to look at the spot i got him from saw a little blood on the road :(

i’m just so upset, i really hope he was just playing dead but the blood makes me worried that maybe i wasn’t being gentle enough moving him out of the way. i’m trying to just remind myself that i did what i could but i feel awful. i’ve never hit or come this close to hitting an animal before

I was outside at night, backyard, enjoying the weather before it starts to get super cold. I was sitting on the ground (it’s like a curb). I was just watching tiktoks on my phone, and I heard rustles in the bushes next to me. It was a little windy, so I didn’t think anything off it. Then another rustle. I turn my head and there is a possum SUPER CLOSE TO ME and I obviously jumped and got up and went back a bit. It obviously got scared of my movement.

By the way, first time ever seeing a possum in real life. I was like WHAT THE F-. Then it just kinda stood there. It was rat like but kinda cute too. I looked it up and they aren’t dangerous, but is it normal for a possum to just casually get that close to a human? Terrified the heck out of me but I also couldn’t help but think it looked cute LOL. Wish I took a picture.

I set up a little possums house in my backyard a few months ago and last night for the first time a possum entered and took a look around! I hope it comes back and will eventually want to move in!

I have a wonderful little family under my deck. This is one of the kids.

Pulled up to work and it was still dark and I saw something scurry past my car lol so I got really excited. And also a few years back at same spot I rescued one on the side walk near the traffic gate I was working on. I took him to the woods and he ran off

We set up a trap for a feral cat in our neighborhood. Our plan is to catch him and take him to the vet for care and neutering. We had the trap out but haven’t put any bait in or near it. I guess this little guy got curious! The cage is open and hopefully he’ll go hunting tonight.
