I GOT A RAISE!!

After working at my job for two months, they took me off probation a month early, gave me a 2$ an hour raise, added me to the free health plan (doesn’t come off my paycheck) and they’re moving my phone number under the business account so I won’t have to pay a phone bill either!!! Everything’s coming up Millhouse 🥳

Things are finally starting to look up!

So a little over a year ago my life for the past 10 years basically came to an end. My marriage ended, I basically became homeless, and I bounced from job to job. A year of hard work later but as of today, I have a license in my new State, a new car and I have managed to actually start saving money instead of just living check to check. I am super proud of how far I’ve come. You can do it too! It’s hard and it is painful sometimes but it is doable. DON’T GIVE UP, I BELIEVE IN YOU!

What makes you happy?

I'd love to hear your simple pleasures in life. The simpler, the better.

Personally, I'd say eating pop corn, being in a quiet environment, and talking to the few people I like.

Finally starting to really heal after fleeing abuse.

It's not linear, and I know that. I still struggle with shame and fear and all of these things. I can look at it differently now though. I can see when I'm elevating again and take deep breaths. I can recognize when I don't need to be in fight or flight and when I do.

All this to say it's a big win. It's been a year since I fled my home and uprooted my life. I lost my career and everything, and I think it was the best thing I ever did. I am so happy to be healing. Even when it's hard and feels like I've made no progress, I know that I have.

So it isn't perfect, but the healing is happening.

I got called beautiful today

• Upvotes

28F have never really been complimented on my looks throughout my life. Was not considered a pretty girl at school, I’ve never been the pretty friend, never had guys show interest in me (only one in high school and another another few years ago but every time I’ve tried to pursue someone I’ve been ghosted or rejected). Even now I see the way my friends get called models, gorgeous, beautiful and I’m always just labelled ‘cute.’

I was in the bathroom today and another girl literally went out of her way to say to me ”you’re really beautiful.” I was so shocked because these things just never happen to me, but it made my day and I’m still thinking about it hours later :)

What gives you comfort ?

I finally had some time to rest after work and got back into playing the witcher 3 while drinking coffee and I wonder what does bring comfort to other people ? Like what is something you would be eager to do when you have a day where you wanna feel cozy

I've been in such a good mindset lately. Albeit stressed as anything, but I can actually do things! I've been four months out of a controlling relationship and I can actually do things. I can eat when I want, I can sleep when I want - I'm not forced to stay up until midnight because they want me at theirs for longer, I can go out by myself, I can dress however I want without them saying anything or blowing my phone up if I don't respond immediately.

I'm actually eating properly, I'm making meals I like, with ingredients I like. I'm sleeping better, I'm working out, I'm actually talking to old friends who I haven't properly spoken to since before getting into the relationship. I'm working on my addictions, and I'm going to sign up for proper therapy to get help with my flaws and work on myself. My room is tidy, I'm saving money on food shops now that I have to pay for just myself and I don't have to lend money to someone.

I've taken up yoga, started going to Dungeons and Dragons again, I'm watching shows and movies I want to watch without being in constant fear of triggering my ex. I'm communicating better to people, my overall mental health is so much better. Holy fuck I haven't felt this good in years!!

Sorry for such a long wordy rant. I've just realised what I can actually do now!! :D

I need a little bit of positivity

I searched for good sub where I can read some success stories, about beating depression and anxiety. But most of them are triggering and are wallowing in endless self-pity (which I understand, but that can turn into an endless cycle and it's not helping) So I hope I'm in the right place to read some I beat depression or life got better stories. I was bullied through my school years and I have ptsd, but I think and I hope I can overcome the trauma.

How do you guys stay positive when everything feels like it’s crashing?

I know it’s probably also my stress and busy schedule and my the way I absorb things but how do you guys stay positive?

What are the things that help you in times when it all feels so much that your chest can’t take it anymore?

One of the things that i’ve been trying is consistently journaling. Have any of you consistently journaled for years and how has that worked out?

How do make sure to not let the dark thoughts consume the positive ones?

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

2weex 5dys into 1yr Alcohol free and 5yrs Drug free trying to do better

• Upvotes

Good afternoon Family today I would like to share the rollercoaster week I have had since my milestones achievement.

It's been almost 5dys since I've been totally been in the dumps. I was so excited and ampt up during and a few days after my achievement then I started waking up unmotivated and depressed.

I was told it's milestones hangover because I been feeling like I just quit drinking and drugging again. Also I live in Boston Ma and the weather change also plays a role in my seasonal depression. It also reminds me of many relapses that always seem to come around this time of the year so I'm reminded of that as well.

I'm trying so hard to do better and stay positive but after always failing I have trained my mind to eventually fail at some point. So it seems like auto pilot.

So this go around I'm trying to stay fully aware of my state of mind and try the pivot to thinking positive. Because I assume that if I work on telling myself positive affirmations it will begin to automatically think positive when im starting to think negative something like counter punching instead of getting hit.

I know I feel great when I'm positive but for me it's so easy to derail me because I tend to dwell a lot on the past.

Well I'm wondering if anyone else has or had similar experiences?

Thanx for letting me share One Day Forward One Day Behind -Shawn
