Daily news: This is Friday, October 16, and today is day 289 of the year-long Stay Clean 2026 challenge. Keep fighting the good fight!

If you think you should still be on this list but aren't, you probably got removed for not checking in at least once per month. However, if you let me know you're still with it I'll re-add you.

  • Please check in with the group in the comments as often as you want! Feel free to share thoughts, feelings, experiences, progress, wisdom, encouragement and whatever else!
  • IMPORTANT: if you relapse, please post a comment to that effect here and I will remove your name from the list. We will not judge you or shame you, we have all been there.
  • Participants are required to check in once per month. If you have a "~" after your name, you have yet to check in during October. If it is still there at the end of October 30, you will be removed from the list, in order to keep the numbers as realistic as possible.

Quitting porn released me from some of my kinks and it’s just so freeing.

For years I’ve suffered from being into some rather humiliating kinks, I won’t list them here because I don’t want to run the risk of triggering others. I do want to share tho that since quitting porn those kinks have just dramatically dropped off in intensity. I feel myself getting closer and closer to just having a sort of normal baseline sexual interest, it feels natural and not artificially pushed by the porn industry.

Just wanted to share this, it isn’t too late. Lock in, really lock in.

I have 0 desire to watch porn

Growing up in an abusive household I found an escape by watching porn and not knowing the dangers of it, I accidentally developed a porn addiction and messed my brain up. From the ages of 18 onwards I had a better relationship with porn and only consumed it when I wanted to masturbate, but I still wanted to quit it for good but was never able to. When I turned 22 I finally had actual sex and realised how different it was to porn, I feel like the copious amounts of porn I consumed made it hard for me to enjoy sex, I was able to stop consuming porn and masturbating for months which I had never done before, and the only thing that helped me was my relationship as I see viewing porn in a relationship as cheating. Anyways that relationship ended really fast due to other reasons and I was back to watching porn while masturbating and I hated it. I just couldn't quit it for good. However few months ago I got prescribed with ADHD medication and it just totally killed my libido and desire for a relationship, now it's not exactly healthy but I am able to focus on my life and be more productive. I tried watching porn few weeks ago and turned it off in few seconds because I got bored.

This isn't like medical advise, just my own experience I wanted to share.

Tips for getting up in the morning?

• Upvotes

I'm a week into my 2nd attempt to quit for good. I've learned a lot from my 1st attempt and I don't particularly feel guilty about failing my 1st attempt because I feel like it better equipped me to actually succeed now.

However the hardest part of quitting for me is getting up in the morning. I'd often start my day with porn followed by a shower whenever I woke up with the urge, and now that I've quit I'm finding it harder to find the motivation to get up in the morning because I don't have that immediate dopamine hit to start the day. I'd rather just lay in bed doing nothing, but then that ends up messing up the rest of my day and stressing me out because I get up super late and end up having to cram schoolwork and errands to get things done before the end of the day.

Also I think it's important to mention that I have depression and that porn was partly a coping mechanism for that. I'm getting pretty good at managing my depression though, except for getting up in the morning.

Does anyone have any tips for finding the motivation to get up in the morning instead of bed rotting? My phone is not an issue because because I don't use my phone in bed, so any tips not related to my phone would be greatly appreciated!

Day 8

Day 8 and cleanish? I was scrolling through Reddit, clicked on a porn video, looked at it for about half a minute then I took it off. I got the urge and tried masturbating in the shower an hour after this and even though I wanted to keep going I stopped after a minute of trying and finished my shower.

Anyone else not using it to escape... Just horny all the time?

• Upvotes

I know about addictions, dealt with a few other than this one (most prominent being alcohol, nicotine, nail biting, and my fucking phone). I know all about the escaping emotions part, using it to cope with life, guilt, etc.

With this tho, at least for me, there's barely an emotional part. I'm just horny most if not all the time. Before getting with my partner, I also had like a lot of risky sex. Not anymore thankfully.

There's not a big, complex explanation. I'm just horny.

I have responsibilities, so it's not just boredom. I workout regularly and eat well enough, losing weight and adding muscle. I have a partner who I love more than life itself. I do have depression and stuff, but I feel that's more connected to other issues than this one.

Is there like a medical explanation or something?

Help to get rid of porn

• Upvotes

Im 15, and I have been addicted to porn for around 2 years, it has enteeed very early in my life before I could even realise it was.

Now I feel like its blocking my full potential and making me less motivated.

I already tried a lot to escape it, but eventualy my "instinctive" side always wins the battle in a couple days making me do it one more time.

I want to get it out as soon as possible, while I still have time before this adiction turns into something far worse.

Anyone who has already beating it, or is beating this addiction what are some for me?

I know this will be hard but im ready

(Sorry for bad english)

Still having urge loop

77 days porn free and the urges are still pretty robust. The craving for MO has finally dissipated but I'm still left with the impulse to seek porn when I don't have an answer to a desire for something rewarding. Sometimes a sweet treat would hit the spot that's another aspect I'm working on with my diet and have largely cut out indulgences. Seems like the porn impulse may have shifted further down the thought process but seems far from disappearing. There's probably parts of life that I'm missing and idk how to fill those voids.

How did you actually break the cycle of porn, masturbation, and guilt?

I’m stuck in a loop and would genuinely appreciate advice from people who’ve been through this.
I masturbate almost daily, sometimes twice a day, and usually it’s accompanied by porn. My biggest trigger is boredom, especially when I’m alone with my phone.
The cycle is pretty predictable at this point: get bored, watch porn, masturbate, feel guilty and empty afterward, promise myself I’ll stop, and eventually repeat the whole thing.
It’s starting to affect my focus and the time I spend working towards my goals. I’ve tried quitting before, but I haven’t been consistent.
I keep hearing advice like “redirect your sexual energy into something productive,” but what does that actually look like in real life? I’m not going to magically become productive just because I’m horny.
For those who managed to break this pattern:
What actually helped you stop watching porn?
How did you handle urges when you were alone and bored?
Did you quit porn first or masturbation altogether?
What mistakes kept making you relapse?
I’m looking for practical advice from people with actual experience, not just “have more discipline” or “stay busy.”
Thanks.

Relapse, solution and standing back up again

Hey so I posted a couple days ago i believe? Either way I need to say this. I replapsed and it sucked but as soon as I was done instead of wallowing and going on a bender I slapped myself and said "okay we relapsed but we can't give up: plan begin

Step 1: I established the cause what did i do before going into the bathroom: I brought toilet paper which obviously didn't cause the relapse I brought my phone BAM that's it my phone caused the relapse.

Step 2: how to prevent. This is pretty simple just don't carry my phone to the bathroom leave it

Step 3: putting my plan into action. I litterally just relapsed like 3 minutes ago i can't put it in action yet but I can remember next time I need to use the restroom at my house I leave the phone in my room

Now figuring out what to do about outside the house will be a bit harder when urges hit but i'll figure it out. However I make this post to highlight a huge GIGANTIC leap in progress I didn't go on a bender. Usually i'd relapse on porn and go on a bender and not decide to quit for months or even sometimes years! However im not gonna fall to that now we will fight this war and win after all im not resisting im on the offensive can't wanna give into something your resisting if you are the one it trying to fight off! Anyways yes just wanted to say something and say to anyone who relapsed and considering going onna bender STAND UP DON'T LAY DOWN AND ACCEPT DEFEAT STAND UP PICK UP THAT SWORD AND GET BACK TOO IT!

In a state of confusion.

Lately I’ve recently regained conscience from my struggles with porn and masturbation. I’ve joined this sub for quite a while (forgot when exactly), to which I had completed a month from recovery. After that, the urge slowly creeped in from weekly, to a couple of days, and currently daily —sometimes twice. I’m currently in college and turning 20 the next few weeks. It’s been a rollercoaster of feelings towards this since I’ve been wanting to stop it for good; and if I can remember, I may have started watching and doing it as a 12 year old till now. I’ve consulted and talked about it with close friends, and they are supportive, but I still feel ashamed if I ever request help.

As to why I’ve been in an on and off state with my deed, my main reason is so that I could find the better me and not hide the truth away from my partner. We’ve had discourse about this years ago, twice, or maybe thrice, and those discussions almost did not end well. It started with me opening up about this, then recalling it later, and so on. And currently, when I give in, there’s a notion that “it’s something I’d like to do/we would do” in bed, which I believe it may ruin me in a couple of years.

To readers, insights and suggestions are welcome as this is my call for help. Thank you.

Stop relying on willpower. Build a system instead

I tried to quit on willpower for years. I'd have a good run, then slip, feel terrible and start again. What finally changed things wasn't trying harder. It was setting things up so I didn't need to.

Willpower fails because the version of you deciding to quit isn't the one who has to hold the line. You decide on a calm afternoon. The urge shows up when you're tired, bored or alone late at night, and that version of you has all the same passwords and none of the motivation. Expecting to win that fight every time is a bad plan.

A system takes that fight out of your hands. It's a set of layers that each make a slip a bit less likely:

- Devices: blockers on everything, with a random PIN you never see

- Your space: where your devices are, and where you use them

- Your physical state: sleep, exercise, not getting run down

- Your time: filling the gaps where it tends to happen

- Other people: someone who knows, even if they're just holding a code

None of these are perfect, and they don't need to be. Each one adds time and effort, and most urges pass before you get through them all.

The biggest change for me was blockers with a randomised PIN that only my accountability partner knows. Once I couldn't undo it on my own, a lot of slips just didn't happen.

The other half is how you handle slips. For me, the shame after a slip usually set up the next one. Now I treat a slip as information. What was going on beforehand, and how did I get past my setup? Then I fix that one gap. Over time the holes get smaller.

If you want somewhere to start, keep a simple log for a couple of weeks. When it happens, where you are, what you were doing and how you were feeling. Your patterns tell you which layers to build first.

What's in your system? Keen to hear what's worked for people.

masturbation without porn doesnt feel enough

I (17f) have had a good couple of days since I stopped porn, and the initial days weren't that bad. but the orgasms without porn have been not satisfactory. I have relied mainly on imagination, thinking of every aspect of the sexual spectrum there is, but the feeling of cumming has just simmered down nothing but a release for a few seconds, and then nothing. there is no mental satisfaction, no physical satisfaction. edging makes it a bit more exciting, but after the climax its again, nothing.

has anyone else experienced the same?

4 months free 😊

I've been watching porn since a very young age. As I got older it became something to do and watch I guess to help make me feel better I'm really not sure. I knew I shouldn't be watching but I couldn't stop. Now at 39 single mom to 1. I told myself I don't want to be addicted to porn anymore the way it made me feel after I watched it was disgusting. I now know porn is fake and real people in their sex lives don't behave this way most times. The types of videos I was watching was creating more anger for me. So I just suddenly stopped ...now 4 month free of all sites I don't have any reason to go on any of those sites. I just want to be free from it.

I’m 20 and I don’t want to keep living like this

I’m 20F and I’ve been struggling with porn addiction for about 4 years now. It’s something I’ve kept to myself for so long because I feel really embarrassed and ashamed about it.

I’ve tried to stop so many times, but I always seem to fall back into the same habit. Every time it happens, I feel disappointed in myself, and it’s exhausting knowing that I genuinely want to change but still struggle with it.

What makes it harder is that I don’t feel like I can talk to anyone about this. I can’t imagine telling my friends or family because I’m scared of being judged or having them see me differently. I wish I could open up to someone and talk about what I’m going through, but I feel too embarrassed to even bring it up.

Sometimes it feels really lonely dealing with this on my own. I hate that something I started years ago has become such a difficult habit to break, and I don’t want to keep living like this.

I’m only 20, and I really want to make a change before more years pass. I want to move on from this and feel better about myself, but I’m scared of trying again and failing.

I guess I’m posting here because I don’t know who else to talk to, and I’m hoping there are people who can understand what I’m going through.

Has anyone else struggled with asking for help because they felt too ashamed or embarrassed? How did you manage to start overcoming this addiction?

I really hope things can get better. I just don’t want to keep struggling with this alone anymore.

  • Lower self-confidence
  • Wasted time
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • It affects my relationship or love life
