web Please upgrade your PHP version

Sa mga gumagamit ng PHP dito sa kanilang mga production websites.. please update your php version in your servers to the latest released patch versions.. There's a critical security vulnerability that allows someone to have Remote code access on your site and you should take this seriously. If you can't upgrade PHP versions, it would be better to stop your site in production until you upgraded your PHP versions..

Keep your site secure otherwise you're cook if someone sniff on your site and .

Stay safe mga ka programmers..

discussion Ako lang ba, I can write a proper code but I am having a hard time explaining it technically.

Hi!

Web Developer here, worked for 3 years.

I am having a dillema sa career ko right now napapaisip tuloy ako if I have skipped a step sa pagiging isang Programmer/Developer.

I can write codes naman, efficiently. But I am sometimes having a hard time explaining it technically, lalo na kapag gagamit ng terms and when asked sa interview questions (technically)

I am also having an impostor syndrome when paired or next to other programmers.

Ako lang ba ang nakaranas neto or nararanasan to?

advice Any Filipino developers here who transitioned from coding to running their own software business?

Hi everyone!

I'm a Software Developer from Mindanao and previously worked professionally as a .NET developer.

Recently, I've been exploring entrepreneurship by developing software solutions for local businesses.

One thing I've realized is that building software is very different from getting people to actually use it.

You can spend months developing features, improving the UI, and fixing bugs, but none of that automatically means businesses will adopt your product.

Some business owners prefer their existing manual processes, while others are hesitant to try something unfamiliar.

It made me realize how important customer validation, communication, and understanding actual business operations are.

For developers here who have built software for real businesses, what was the biggest challenge you encountered when introducing your product to customers?

I'd love to hear your experiences, especially from fellow Filipino developers.

discussion I'm almost 30 and changing career

I graduated in Aero Engineering in PHin 2019, and went

straight to flying. Present time, doing my training as a flight instructor but realized I hate teaching, or should I say my confidence shuts down when demo teaching and can't move forward for personal reasons. But anyway, of course a red flag for not having any job at all, no experience, zero. Too privileged and I hate it.

°Am I too late?

° Is getting a course in free online Harvard Lessons a

good start?

° I'm planning on joining a coding boot camp?

°any suggestion on how to start? For basics, like vocabulary, jargons, etc. (I see freecodecamp as suggestions)

advice Would you hire a vibe coder for a junior developer role?

Curious about everyone’s thoughts on hiring junior developers who heavily rely on AI coding tools like Cursor, Claude Code, or Copilot.

Would you consider hiring someone who’s good at prompting AI and building working features but isn’t as strong at writing code from scratch?

I know AI-assisted development is becoming more common, but understanding the code, debugging issues, and knowing what you’re actually building still matter.

Would you hire someone like this for a junior role? What skills would you expect them to have?

discussion Is gatekeeping AI tools and workflows justified, especially when the tools are free and open-source?

Napaisip lang ako tungkol sa idea ng gatekeeping knowledge, especially when it comes to AI tools and automation.

Is it reasonable to keep the actual process behind a paywall, or would it be better to share the knowledge and let people build on it?

Hindi ko naman sinasabing masama agad magbenta ng courses, and this isn’t about calling out any specific creator. Genuinely curious lang ako kung saan ninyo nilalagay yung line between monetizing your expertise and gatekeeping information.

Interested to hear different perspectives, especially from people working with AI, automation, and open-source projects.

mobile I made an app to keep track of KKB or bill splits! And it's all free hehe

Thumbnail olivatic.itch.io
2 Upvotes

Hi guys! Made this app using react-native expo to flesh up my app development skills pero it's also to solve a specific problem na nakikita ko sa community around me. I think it's easy and intuitive enough and what's better is it's all free and you can download it right now! What it is is basically tinatrack niya yung mga bills tapos kung sino ung nakaassign na bayaran yun, then automatically splits that bill among those certain friends. It's pretty useful especially if may mga barkada ka na palaging may nagbabayad muna and it's a hassle to calculate how much you owe and to who.

It's open beta right now so let's hear your thoughts and kung useful ba talaga siya for you! Salamat po!

Show Case I built some squishy dogs you can, well, squish!

Hello! I'm a software engineering student and I made Siopaws, a site that generates squishy dogs you can interact with and also name and share. I know it's a bit late for the squishy trend hahah but I wanted to finish this pet project (pun intended) and put it online.

This is totally free. You can try it on your phone, pwede din sa PC. I’d appreciate feedback on the controls or anything that feels confusing. Thanks!

I'm building a personal job search tool, basically a dashboard that pulls job posts from different sites and scores them against my resume. Personal use lang.

The problem is most of the big job boards don't allow scraping in their ToS. Examples:

- Indeed: no public API anymore, so tools like JobSpy hit their internal API instead
- JobStreet: their API endpoints are blocked in robots.txt
- LinkedIn: very strict on automation, especially when logged in
- Wellfound: their terms explicitly ban scraping

So for those who already have a tool or use AI/scripts to scrape job boards:

  1. What's been your experience? Have you been IP blocked, or just hit captchas?
  2. How long did the block last? Temporary lang ba or matagal?
  3. Did your account get banned if you were logged in while scraping?
  4. How do you do it now? Slow requests, official APIs (Jooble, Careerjet, etc.), Google Jobs via SerpApi, or job alert emails?
  5. Has anyone gotten an email or warning from the site itself?

I just want to know the real-world risks before I continue, kasi ayokong ma-block yung home internet namin 😅

Thanks in advance! 🙏

discussion All software will be free soon

all adobe software got decompiled, rebuilt with new code by ai and its free. same will happen to every single software. this is why bill gates is starting to fight ai because it will only be a matter of time until ai decompiles and clones all microsoft software including windows. as a consumer, id love to have all software for free. adobe stock will die quickly. by next year many software companies will go bankrupt as ai decompiles all their shi# and makes em free. its joever everyone, wake up and smell the coffee

edit: to take it a step further, since ai is tireless, works 24/7, what if it clones all windows versions even the ones that microsoft ceased supporting, and the ai creates regular updates for all of them forever, for free..

edit: pano malaman if good enough ginawa ng ai? next year malalaman. if bankrupt na ang adobe then alam natin na mas ok na yun free version. or they dont even need to go bankrupt next year, just look at their stock value. check if it falls and if the trend keeps going down, it means ai version is legit

shit post This will be my first time building a portfolio.

After 3 years of total experience across programming (web, mobile, database) and web development roles.

These are my plans of how it should be built, first of all, gusto ko syempre gumamit ng framework; pang full-stack para kumpleto rekado na.

You may wonder why I used a "shit post" flair. It is because isa akong bano kasi palibhasa sa previous roles ko, limited ang resources at fund para mag-support ng IT infrustructure na IT industry ang datingan, kumbaga, malayo sa kabihasnan ng konti.

advice Question about similarities between frontend animation components

Post image
6 Upvotes

I came across the BrewedOps Motion Library and noticed some components that look similar to components in other public libraries.

Some examples I found:

21stdev: Scramble Text, Image Trail, Cube Wave

ReactBits: Crosshair

Cinematic Site Components: Image Trail, Text Scramble Decode, SVG Draw, Dynamic Island Nav, Sticky Card, Character Decode, Typewriter, Kinetic Marquee, Cursor Reveal

BrewedOps: Scramble Decode, Image Trail, Sticky Card Stack, Dynamic Island Nav, Typewriter, Kinetic Marquee, Before and After, SVG Line Draw, Crosshair Guide, Cube Wave

The BrewedOps library offers Copy Code and Copy Prompt options, but I couldn't find visible attribution identifying the original sources of its components.

In a Facebook post, the developer described the collection as:

“Collection po ito ng halos lahat ng nagamit ko before. Motion animation, Three.js, GSAP, Lenis, etc.”

The Cinematic Site Components repository uses the MIT License. I'm mentioning this as a licensing example, not claiming that it is the source of any BrewedOps components.

Has anyone compared the actual implementations of these components? I'm interested in whether there are technical similarities beyond their names and visual effects, and what attribution is required when code covered by an MIT license is reused.

I haven't established that any code was copied. I'm looking for technical feedback on implementation similarities and licensing.

Job Advice Hi, need freelance advise!

  1. Did you start with simple static sites/portfolios, WordPress, or full-stack CRUD systems?

Job Advice Should I push through programming roles or pivot in this AI era?

I’m looking for honest advice from people already working in dev roles. Any advice, even the brutally honest kind, is welcome.

For context, i'm a CS grad, worked as an IT/office personnel for a small company, and left for personal reasons without much a backup plan. Part also is that that I want to move towards the dev side.

Right now I’m on a contract project for a client, but I know it won’t sustain me long-term. I’ve been applying steadily for 4 months, building personal projects and strengthening fundamentals, but the pressure is starting to get to me.

I’m close to considering a career shift. The market feels saturated, and the AI hype adds pressure. I know many will say 20s age is still early, but I want to raise my chances. I'm trying my best to be enthusiastic in what i'm slowly building is to be rewarded.

  1. Is it still worth pushing for dev careers as a junior right now in the Philippines, or should I pivot?
  2. For recent hired juniors, especially if you weren’t a fresh grad, what made the difference (projects, referrals, certs, networking)?

I want to connect than keep guessing.

Show Case Managed to reverse engineer my peripheral software drivers and create and all-in-one app to change settings and show status of each peripheral using REA!

Stack used is T3 Code, REA, Opus 5.5. Had it decompile my peripherals' apps and then built the taskbar app from that.

Right now only for personal usage but once I get it to support most brands of peripherals, might release it (very unlikely lol)

discussion Full Stack Web dev VS Claude Vibe Coder

I'm developing a large-scale enterprise operations system, carefully handling authentication, authorization, RBAC, database design, business logic, security, and actual organizational requirements. I'm currently around 25% done.

Then someone presented a similar system, claiming to have completed it in just a month. The presentation looked impressive at first, but during the demo, I noticed UI flaws, such as text overflowing its containers. The overall design also had that obvious AI-generated look. And the management is now discussing the nationwide operation of this system.

I talked to her, and she openly admitted to using Claude AI for practically everything through prompting.

I use AI too, and I have nothing against it. But there's a difference between generating an impressive-looking prototype and engineering a reliable enterprise system.

It got me thinking: Can strong presentation skills and AI prompting overshadow actual web development skills, even when the resulting software falls short of industry standards? Will AI-assisted coding eventually replace developers, or will solid engineering skills still matter in the long run?

discussion I'm Now A Software Engineer!! 💻

i would like to thank Claude, Chat GPT, Open Claw and Grok Bot!! 😍😍😍

Six months ago I was a high school history teacher. I spent my evenings grading essays, writing lesson plans, and trying (and mostly failing) to build simple tools that would make my job less chaotic. I had ideas for years. A shared resource library that actually sorted itself. A parent communication tracker that didn’t live in twelve different Google Docs. A way to auto-generate differentiated reading assignments based on each student’s level.

I couldn’t build any of it. Every time I tried a no-code tool I hit a wall. The moment I needed something slightly custom, the whole thing fell apart. Hiring a developer was out of the question on a teacher’s salary. Learning to code properly felt like signing up for a second full-time job I didn’t have the energy for.

Then I started using AI agents.

Not the “chat with me and get a code snippet” kind. The ones that can actually plan, write, test, fix, and deploy. I described what I wanted in plain English, the same way I’d explain it to a helpful colleague. The agent broke it into steps, generated the full application, set up the database, handled authentication, and even wrote basic tests. When something broke, I just told it what went wrong and it fixed it.

The biggest pain points that used to stop me cold just… disappeared.

The knowledge gap. I never needed to understand React, PostgreSQL, or deployment pipelines. I only needed to understand the problem I was solving.

The endless debugging loop. Previously, one small error could cost me an entire weekend of Googling and frustration.

Now the agent diagnoses and repairs most issues itself.

Scope paralysis. I used to freeze because I didn’t know where to start or how big the project should be. Agents force you to be clear about the outcome, then they handle the path.

Maintenance fear. Updating something I didn’t fully understand used to terrify me. Now I just describe the change and the agent implements it while keeping the rest of the system intact.

Time. What used to feel like a multi-month side project now takes days or even hours for the first usable version.

I’m not claiming I’m suddenly a senior engineer who can architect massive systems from scratch. I’m still the same history teacher. But I can now turn ideas into working software. I’ve built tools for my own classroom, then improved versions for other teachers in my district, and recently started helping a couple of local small businesses with simple internal apps.

The shift feels bigger than just “I can make apps now.” It feels like the barrier between “I have a useful idea” and “the idea exists in the world” collapsed. For the first time, the limiting factor isn’t technical skill. It’s clarity of thought and willingness to iterate.

If you’re a non-programmer sitting on ideas you’ve always told yourself you can’t build, the landscape has changed more than most people realize. The tools are here. The agents are capable. The only real remaining skill is learning how to talk to them clearly.

Still feels a little surreal typing this. But yeah… I’m building software now.
