Repeal NJ state law to allow cell phones in schools
Growing up in the age of technology, my cellphone has been a critical part of my life—more than just a device for calls or texts; it's a portal to knowledge and a tool for safety. But right now, New Jersey's strict laws banning cell phone use in public schools from bell to bell do more harm than good. These bans strip students of access to vital information, immediate help in emergencies, and helpful learning tools. Instead of blanket bans, we need sensible policies that keep students both safe and focused.
Cell phones are powerful tools for learning and safety. From quickly researching a classroom question to contacting a parent in an emergency, students need access to their devices. A bell-to-bell ban ignores these realities. Instead of empowering students, it creates obstacles to learning, communication, and safety. Other states have found ways to allow phones responsibly—New Jersey can, too.
Consider emergencies that can arise both inside and outside of school grounds. From uncontrollable natural disasters to personal crises, having a cell phone provides students with direct access to emergency services and their families. The current law effectively strips this avenue away, leaving students isolated when they most need quick assistance.
Moreover, the educational system is evolving. Many educational apps and websites are accessible by cellphones, supplementing learning in real-time with interactive and multimedia-rich content. Teachers can use tools on phones to improve classroom engagement, creating a dynamic and innovative learning experience.
Proponents of the current ban may argue that cell phones are a source of distraction, but with proper guidelines and responsible use, these devices can be integrated into the curriculum to support and not distract the educational environment. Consider schools in states across the country that have successfully balanced phone usage policies with student privacy, allowing cell phones while maintaining environments effective for educational purposes.
It’s time for legislators in New Jersey to recognise the improving role of technology in education and revise outdated laws. Let’s advocate to adjust school policies that ensure our school environments are safe, cutting-edge learning spaces.
Please join me in signing this petition to repeal the restrictive NJ state law and allow our students the ability to carry their cell phones in all public schools. Together, we can make our schools safer, our students more informed, and our education system more progressive.

Petition: Pardon the Mother of Peace (Hak Ja Han Moon)
I started a petition asking for a pardon for Hak Ja Han Moon, the spiritual leader many know as the Mother of Peace.
I believe she's being treated harshly mainly because she leads a religious movement people find controversial.
Even if wrongdoing happened around her, the prosecutors found no evidence that she had any direct part in it, and making a woman in her 80s the fall guy for misconduct is not right.
No one should be punished for their faith. This is religious persecution and if we allow persecution of any religion, no one is free. Blind justice must prevail over what the popular opinion wants to see happen.

Petition: Las Vegas, Henderson & Clark County: Republic Services Racketeering headed by Jon Vander Ark, CEO and crooks at Williams-Starbuck. This is the Biggest garbage racket in the world! We’re facing $60,000+ in attorney fees over disputed Republic Services bills. Who else has dealt with this?
A garbage bill should never become a weapon against someone’s home and life savings. But residents challenging Republic Services’ charges describe a system that puts both at risk: disputed bills escalate into penalties, property liens, lawsuits, and enormous attorney-fee demands. Please Sign and share this petition at change.org: https://c.org/RpmGJ8xyP6
This petition calls that system “legalized extortion”: pay a disputed demand or face the possibility of TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS more fighting it—with your property on the line. The fact that courts approve collection costs does not make the rules fair or put them beyond public scrutiny.
If you own property served by Republic Services in Las Vegas, Henderson, or Clark County, this concerns you. Not every homeowner is currently facing a lawsuit, but every homeowner depends on the same basic protection: the ability to challenge an incorrect bill without risking financial ruin.
How much can a garbage dispute cost?
In one household’s cases, Zachary T. Williams, Drew J. Starbuck, and Aaron Tippets of WILLIAMS-STARBUCK, representing Republic Services, are seeking:
- More than $60,000 in attorney fees.
- Additional legal fees reportedly increasing by approximately $10,000 a month before trial.
- Underlying charges, interest, penalties, and lien fees on top of those demands.
The household’s own legal defense bills already exceed $15,000.
In correspondence supplied by a homeowner, Zachary T. Williams wrote:
“We have well over 100 judgments this year alone granting our legal fees as reasonable...we also had the Nevada Supreme Court grant us upwards of $40,000 in legal fees against a homeowner”
Who can afford to defend their home while paying their own lawyer and facing demands to pay the company’s lawyers too?
For retirees, working families, caregivers, and small businesses, these demands can consume savings built over a lifetime. The pressure to settle can become overwhelming—even when the underlying charges remain disputed.
What residents are challenging
Residents’ testimonies describe:
- Unresolved cancellation requests and unclear alternative-service requirements.
- Unanswered billing inquiries.
- Refused payments followed by additional fees.
- Denial of dumpster access over debts already converted into property liens.
- Charges for services residents say they never received.
This is an attack on homeowners’ financial security. A fair system resolves billing disputes. It does not make defending your property financially impossible.

Ask every candidate representing this community to commit to:
- Independent federal and state investigations into billing, collections, attorney-fee demands, and government oversight.
- Enforcement when violations are established.
- Clear cancellation procedures and enforceable deadlines for resolving disputes.
- Foreclosure protections during independent review of disputed charges.
- Reasonable limits on penalties, lien fees, and collection-related attorney fees.
- Recovery of improperly collected money, including appropriate relief for former property owners.
Local oversight cannot be the only subject of review and the only source of review. Federal scrutiny matters.
To elected officials: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Will you protect homeowners—or leave them to face this financial ruin and the loss of their home?
