Question My pigeon ate a little ball of fuzz/lint

It was like a little fuzz ball or lint, about the size of a pea, he found it and before I could take it away he swallowed it whole. What should I do?

Leaving the house

Hi all! I am in the very early stages of considering a pet pigeon, and have what may be a very dumb question. If I have a pet pigeon, how similarly to say, a dog, could the baby potentially travel with me? Obviously this is not even the same with every dog, and this would not be as broad as parks, restaurants etc, but for example say I 1. work alone in a private office or 2. travel to a partner‘s house for the weekend, is this something a pigeon could potentially be up to come along for? Assuming all of their regular needs could be met in these environments.

I‘m not sure what my life will look like over the next few years, but I‘d be so happy to have a pigeon with me eventually.

Thanks for any insights, and sorry if this is an insanely stupid question - like I said, just starting to think about this :D.

EDIT to clarify - I think my choice of wording saying similar to a dog was a poor choice :) I don‘t really mean walking around outside etc, moreso travel to indoor places that I, as a human, have to spend a lot of time. (ie, office, family, partner‘s homes.

My boy seems to be just a bit underweight. What can I add to his seed mix or treats to help him put on some weight?

Question Modena breeders?

Good morning! I am doing my research for owning a pigeon maybe next year. I am looking at adopting but also my options with breeders. I’m located in the Midwest and was wondering if anyone knew of a Modena pigeon breeder within that area? I am okay with traveling (for adoption as well).
also give me all your first time owner advice!
Here’s a few questions I have
- are pigeons noisy at night?
- does anyone keep their enclosure in their bed rooms? (I know they are dusty lol)
- best way to clean pigeon pants and how many pairs do you own ?
- what is everyone’s favorite enclosure?

Discussion SHE TOLERATES ME!

• Upvotes

I'm unbelievably happy!! I rescued my ringneck dove from my dad (we don't keep much contact, since he keeps pigeons in really bad condition), as she was left alone, after her mate died. She was living alone in a tiny cage with no time spent outside of her cage for 3 years.

I brought her home about a month ago, and she's finally starting to warm up to me!! I'm SO happy!

Last week on Wednesday, I woke up to her coo-cooing for the first time in her cage in the morning while I slept. I wasn't sure if she realized I was in the room, though, as her cage isn't facing my bed... But on Friday, when I opened her cage, she quickly flew on the side of the bar, looked at me, and did THREE coo-cooes. I WAS SPEECHLESS. I quickly dialed my dad on my phone to tell him the amazing news, and as soon as she heard his voice, she did FOUR MORE coo-cooes. I was like "HOLY, THIS IS EPIC."

So the rest of the week, and this week, went by with no more coo-cooes...

She's deadly afraid of hands, but yesterday night, I was finally able to reach out to her, while she was resting on one of her usual spots next to the window after the sun went down, and she actually stepped on my fingers without flying away and let me place her in her cage for the first time EVER.

I'M ECSTATIC. Especially since she's 3 years old already and I thought it'd take like half a year for her to start tolerating me. I'm so thankful.

She's gorgeous, and she's still learning how to fly normally, but today she reached a milestone with that, too!! She was finally able to control her flying and landed effortlessly on the top of my wardrobe (one of her favorite spots to stare at me while I'm in the room crocheting).

I love her more than anything already. And I'm just so, do very proud of her for getting more and more comfortable with me each and every day.

Forever thankful for Baby.

P.S.: Before I got her, I already picked out the name "Májgombóc Leves" (it translates to "Liver-dumpling Soup") for her, but "Baby" is just so much more fitting. Cuz, yk, she's a Baby. :3
