Dupe Request Megathread (October 19, 2026)
Welcome to the Weekly Dupe Request Megathread. This is where you can get (and offer) recommendations for all dupe requests.
What counts as a dupe?
A perfume that smells "just like" another perfume - whether discontinued or priced out of budget
- Example: "looking for a dupe of BR540 Extrait, but without the price tag"
- Example: "something that smells just like Coffee Break, but lasts longer"
- Example: “a dupe for the discontinued Elizabeth & James Nirvana Black”
- A perfume version of any product: body sprays, hair products, lotions / creams, skin care, candles, candy / sweets, makeup, etc.
How it works:
Share as many details as possible that might be helpful in identifying the dupe you're after: a picture, notes or scent profile, your general geographic location, budget, etc. Please do a quick search of the sub before adding your request, even if you think it would be unusual.
Please remember that this is a global sub with quite a bit of volume, so a response may take time. This thread refreshes weekly on Mondays at 05:00 UTC, so keep that in mind when posting.
If you're looking for perfumes with a similar vibe of another perfume, but not dupes, you can post directly to the main feed.

Mod Post ‘Why was my post removed’ and ‘why did automod say my post violates rule 2’ - Newbie heads-up! + question thread
We’ve been getting a lot of mod mails asking why posts have been removed.
Often it’s because our filters had them held for mod review because a user is new to the community or trips the filter some other way. Unfortunately, Reddit says ‘the mods have removed this post’ instead of saying it’s under review. It will be reviewed by a mod and given a proper removal reason or approved within a few hours.
The other question we frequently get is why automod is saying their post violates rule 2 (Be Kind). It doesn’t, that’s just the automod reminder on every post submitted to r/perfumes.
Beyond that, general questions relating to perfumes or our subreddit can be asked below. Thank you!

Look what I found! Sampling Brain Dead Fragrances
I was seeing some movies at Brain Dead Studios and bought some samples. I didn't sample Shroom Cola because it smells like vinegar on my skin.
Terra Former (bergamot, cut grass, green fig, old wood, tomato leaf, soil, amber) - This smells like fresh cut grass and soil with the fig adding a hint of sweetness. It reminds me of playing in the yard as a kid while my mom did gardening and mowing the lawn. Perfect for spring and summer!
Ambient (myrtle leaf, sandalwood, saffron, oak moss, white musk) - This is a planetary, dimensional skin scent. It smells like a leathery musk with static electricity. I love it! Full bottle worthy for me.
Goldblooming (sandalwood, tobacco leaf, leather, cut weeds, tea) - This is a collab with Jeff Goldbum. There are also notes of saffron, tar, and suede. Very masculine. I can see a sophisticated man wearing this.

Bottle Identification Help me find what perfume this is.
I’m trying to find out what this perfume is so I can buy it but don’t know the name of it. Can anyone help. Thanks

Bottle Identification Okay this is a long shot. I found a photo of my college dorm from 2003 and saw a fragrance on the shelf. I have no idea what it is but it's either BBW or a cheap drug store body splash
Fun fact: I used to get a new fragrance for each term so I could be immediately transported back to that specific time from the scent.

Discussion What’s the one fragrance you hand someone to explain a note they’ve never smelled?
Words only get you so far. I’ve found the fastest way to explain a note is to hand someone a sample that shows it clearly.
For example, I’d point people to a clean, simple iris to show what “powdery and cool” means.
What’s your go-to reference fragrance for explaining a note, and which note is it for?

Discussion Roja Parfums for €3,000 -has anyone actually tried this?
Came across this Roja Parfums bottle and the presentation looks insane. Apparently, some of these exclusive editions cost around €3,000.
Has anyone here actually smelled or owned one of the really expensive Roja fragrances? I'm curious whether the quality, performance and scent are genuinely on another level compared to fragrances in the €200–500 range, or whether you're mostly paying for the exclusivity and presentation.
Would you ever spend that much on a perfume, or is there a point where the price just becomes ridiculous?

Bottle Identification Trying to find a specific perfume
Okay this is a shot in the dark. A few months ago I was at a Bealls and I saw this perfume that I loved. I never got a picture of it and I tried looking online and I couldn't find it ANYWHERE. all I remember is that it was vanilla something and it smelled HEAVENLY. it was a glass bottle and the cap was all white plastic and the bottle had grooves in it. There was something tied around the neck of the bottle like charms or something. It was near the front of the store and there were other scents with the same bottle so it must be some type of collection. They were individually boxed too, it wasn't a perfume that was sold just by the bottle. Hopefully my drawing isn't awful, I did my best. I've been keeping an eye out for it for months, but I've had no luck. Definitely learned from this experience, if I like something take a freaking picture of it.🤦♀️ this perfume has genuinely been haunting me I sprayed it on me at the store and then after I came home and changed the scent transferred over to my new shirt and the scent lasted through the night. I've never found a perfume that lasted quite like that one and it smelled so wonderful. Thank you for anyone that can help.

Recommendation Request Masc Leaning Smoky sweet Recomendations, please
Okay, sorry for the awkward title as english isn't my first lenguage.
I came here to request some recommendations as I'm looking for fragances that are usually recognized more often as masculine (tho unisex is fine as well) that have some type of smokiness and sweetness to It. I don't personally think more fresh or green scents suit me.
I already got the Pascal Morabito's Sultan Noir and I like Tom Ford's Tabacco Vanilla. So I would appreciate something that gives a similar feeling.

Look what I found! Any early 2000s peeps remember Hugo Deep Red?
Any early 2000s peeps remember the original bottle? Not a huge fan of the redesign but I still love the scent♥️ Do you think it smells as good as the original? I can’t tell for sure!

Review Astrophil and Stella, review.
Before I start;
- I’m anosmic to iso-e super, ambroxan, and maybe many similar aromachemicals.
- I try perfumes on my skin on my work days.
- This is a strange house. Most of their perfumes start off quietly but become good performers in the end. It's hard to deny the quality of the ingredients here and there, as well as their effort to give classic perfumery some distinct twists. You have to wear them for a while to understand and enjoy their creations.
- They can be perceived as dated or boring but most blends are really sophisticated. My only complaint is I kinda feel the brand is rather expensive for what they offer.
- 5 score means “ok perfume”.
- Love is Lost - 7/10
Benzoin and jasmine. Two of these notes overpower each other time to time during the drydown. In drydown gorgeous cinnamon joins them and works in harmony with them. A healthy dose of ambergris becomes a dominant one in late drydown. Gorgeous scent with eternal longevity and good sillage.
- Nabati - 6/10
Salty air and incense. Despite the heavy leather accord in the start, the scent dominated by salt damp air and rose incense accords. I find it really hard to score this one. Incense note is not interesting on its own and lasts more than it should through the drydown, but salty air accords make it interesting enough. On the other hand, leather and spice notes come around from time to time and throw off the composition balance. Good ingredients, but somehow, all of them feel disconnected. Perhaps I should try this one in colder months. Huge sillage and eternal longevity.
- Nabati oud - 6-6,5/10
Same as nabati with added oud in the middle notes. The Oud here is dry and really woody. Also, I sense increased iris to make oud less overpowering the other notes. However, I still barely change anything to make it a better scent. Good sillage and eternal longevity.
- 8 Days a Week - 7,5/10
Soapy musk and greens. There is not much to tell. It is your classic soapy green with good performance. People might get nauseated by this since the soapiness becomes a prominent note during drydown.
- Shanghai 1930 - 7,5/10
Floral chypre heavy on tuberose. Despite the overpowering tuberose, the floral blend is so good. Opening florals are so great. If you can pass the first hours of the tuberose attack, the trail it leaves is really nice and evocative. I admit it smells dated time to time, but it's the whole idea of this creation. Reminds me of Oriza L Legrand’s floral perfumes, with richer and completed version. Huge sillage and good longevity.
- Mellow yellow - 6,5-7/10
Not edible perfumey fruit cake. There is something yeasty in this becomes perfume with the help of indolic florals. I mean, it's not bad, but carrot seeds and citruses give such a blend of a cake dough feel. Something between a gourmand and not gourmand at the same time. I also sense something fruity in the background similar to banana or mango. For me, citruses never come forward as other citrus fragrance as they are just there to support other notes tastefully. I just wish there was just a bit less indolic anything in this. One of the most completed scents in the set. Good scent, good sillage, and longevity.
- Chromodoro - 6/10
Green vetiver. Nice scent, but it feels just like a generic green scent. Tomato leaf basil start is nice but does not last long. In hours, it leaves you with green vetiver. Average sillage and longevity.
- Paris Cheri - 5/10
Butter and breakfast jam. This is too gourmand for me to actually enjoy. Starts and ends with sugary undertones. I sense the quality of the spicy ingredients here and there, but they are all smothered by sweet aroma. Smells like pastry with a jam on it. Vanilla and cacao scent linger for hours. Good sillage and eternal longevity.
- In Extremis - 7,5-8/10
Dusty galbanum and soft suede leather. This perfume is such a poetry. Feels like dusty attic enlightened with little sunshine over old romantic sofa you can comfortably sleep. Oud and ambery base done so tastefully that it never overpower main notes and complements dustyness beautifully in the initial drydown. My only complaint is the initial gorgeus drydown passing too quickly, and I can't get enough of it. I feel like this perfume is what nabati/oud is trying to achieve. Ambery base sticks to the skin for hours. Good sillage and eternal longevity.
- Mon Santal - 4/10
Rice pudding with fruits. The weakest option so far. Its whole selling point seems to be the initial rice accord, but it doesn't last long. It devolves into sweet, fruity amber first, then cardamom and sweet vanilla in the end. For me, sweetness is nauseating. Good sillage and longevity.
- Into the Oud - 5/10
Spicy gourmand. The oud at the start doesn't last more than a few minutes. Mostly delicious spices with the same gourmand sweetness it shares with the other perfumes in the line. Up close, the spices give off a sweet chili sauce vibe, but it's not bothersome in the air. Personally, I didn't quite like the tension between animalic oud and caramel. Weak sillage and good longevity.
- Sweet Pulp - 6,5/10
Browned pear and patchouli. A masculine leaning gourmand. This is the most interesting and experimental composition in the set so far. I understand why some people hate it. I might be anosmic to the sweet aroma chemicals in this one since it's not as sweet to me as people say. Pear is balanced with grassy patchouli on top of an interesting combination of a healthy dose of sandalwood and cinnamon. Just a bit more than a skin scent, with good longevity.
- Amberliveable - 6/10
Sweet amber and resinous benzoin. Less on benzoin more on amber version of Love is Lost. Light florals bring a zingy, indolic hue at the start. Pink pepper, patchouli and cedar join later in the drydown without changing the composition. This one is quiet from the start but develops really well on the skin. Sweet vanilla is more noticeable on clothes than on skin. Essential Parfums' Divine Vanille is close to this one; however, EP would be a better choice. Low projection, eternal longevity.
- Madame M - 6,5/10
Again, pear and spices laced with powdery notes and benzoin. It doesn't go into full gourmand territory thanks to the dry benzoin and heady florals peeking through underneath. The same pear note used in Sweet Pulp is also here, but it's not the centerpiece of this scent. In the drydown, the pear note gives the benzoin and spices a milky edge and rounds them out. Good sillage and good longevity.

Discussion Holiday sets and sales
New to collecting perfumes. I searched the history and didn’t see this answered.
What should people be looking for now that holiday sets are hitting stores? What sort of sales do the retail stores have that are worth looking for?
With department stores, you used to be able to open a new account and stack a discount on top of sales. Still possible? Worth doing instead of stalking online resellers?

Bottle Identification Warm / Sweet perfume from Justice circa 2013
Does anyone know of or remember a purple rollerball perfume from the girls clothing store Justice circa 2012-2013? I remember getting a rollerball perfume from there and remember it smelling warm and sweet. I want to say vanilla/cinnamon but I know they didn’t use cinnamon, not sure what else would it give it a “warmth”. It was definitely very sweet and a rollerball. Sorry if that isn’t enough info.

Discussion Which perfumes should I get this Sephora sale?
I have my eyes on few picks that I may like but I’m not in the us to smell it myself. If anyone has any of the following perfumes, I would like to know if they are worth getting it. How was your experience with these scent profiles and what perfumes would you compare it with?
Rosie Jane - Rosie
Dedcool - Mochi Milk (is this lighter compared to YBM?)
The 7 virtues - Candied Lychee
The7 virtues - Amber orchid
Nest - Lychee rose
Salt & Stone - Ambrette & Pear
I like notes of musk, amber, floral and fruits but on lighter/softer and refreshing side. I find gourmand perfumes as not safe blind buy (I have YBM by Kayali - it has grown on me and I like it but I still find a bit heavy to me). I also do not like powdery dry down.
I’m also open to recs other than these perfumes if you think is worth getting.

Discussion I can't smell anything in baccarat rouge 540 extrait besides alcohol and sharp chemicals 😔 I feel like I'm missing out
I always hear good things about this perfume but when I tried it on it's too strong that I can't smell any good notes in it. I smell heavy rubbing alcohol, chemicals and a dusty antique shop. Sometimes I get a wif of a somewhat sweet smell but it disappears.
Can I know what baccarat smells like to you cause I feel like everyone smells it differently and now I'm curious.

Discussion Is it impossible to identify a fragrance which was my Arabic perfume oil based on?
4 years ago my boyfriend at the time went to the world cup in Qatar and i asked him to bring a little bottle of oil perfume dupe of tom ford’s lost cherry. He did and along with it he brought some other one that was either gifted or recommended to him by the shop owner, no labels, no names, nothing. The dupe of lost cherry does smell veeery good and very similar to the original, so i assume this mystery one would be pretty close too. I completely forgot about it for 4 years and just rediscovered the bottle now and am absolutely in love with it… it’s a tiny 5-10ml bottle though so it will run out eventually but is there any possibility of finding what the original scent is? Going to perfume stores and asking the workers if they can recognise it???

Recommendation Request Still Searching. . .
Late 2017, possibly early 2018 I got a free sample of a Prada fragrance from Sephora during some beauty show at the local mall. This fragrance has HAUNTED me since then and I've been searching for it over that time. Unfortunately when I smelled it/owned it, I wasn't nearly as into fragrances as I am now, so I didn't record it or write it down and didn't really know the notes, etc. . .
I own many Prada frags already and have sampled many as well (candy kiss, amber, l'eau ambree, mirages midnight train, most of the infusions line, amber pour homme, most of the luna rossa line, paradoxe, paradoxe intense, la femme, l'homme, l'homme l'eau, and l'homme intense. I am also pretty familiar with fragrance in general, though it's been so long since I smelled it, my memory is weak. I am fairly certain it's none of those listed.
The facts: it was offered at Sephora alongside a sample of Chloe Chloe. I don't think they were just giving samples of new fragrances because Chloe was released in 2008, so it may be an older one. It was not gourmand, not sweet, and I remember thinking it vaguely reminded me of the OG alien formula at that time. I'm assuming it was a floral because of that. It was quite strong, long-lasting, and I believe feminine leaning. That's really all I got.
TLDR; help me locate a prada fragrance from sephora that isn't any of the ones listed above in paragraph 2!

Recommendation Request Cinnamon/spiced
Hello lovelies. I am looking for recommendations for a perfume that smells like cinnamon or similar . Ideally NOT PUMPKIN SPICE. Cinnamon and vanilla would be acceptable, or cinnamon and another woodsy type scent would also be fine. I wanna smell like a fall dessert. Please and thank you in advance!

Bottle Identification Japanese perfume identification
I need help finding what perfume brand this is, but I don't have any photos of it. I have a vague recollection that it has a circular shape, and either baby blue or white design. The line they sold mainly focused on clean, soapy scents like fresh linen. Theres a b in the name (or multiple) and its highly likely to be a Japanese brand becauss it was in the shelf below Jscent. I saw it in the osaka cosme store.

Discussion has anyone tried either of these perfumes before and do you actually like them? 🥹
i’m a clean scent girl, but i love when a perfume smells strong, fresh and clean while still being sexy, bold and luxurious if that makes sense 😭 like smelling expensive, wearing a silky robe, being fed grapes and living my best life i want something that has people noticing me when i walk past and makes me smell irresistible, but i still want that clean girl scent profile too
the two i’m looking at are:
• khadlaj hareem al sultan gold concentrated oil perfume
• narciso rodriguez pure musc eau de parfum
if you’ve bought either of these, please let me know what they smell like, how long they last and whether you think they’re worth buying! especially if you’re into clean, musky, sexy scents 💗
