Welcome to r/PatheticPowerScaling!

Hey everyone! I'm u/jackrobertsherlock, the founder of r/PatheticPowerScaling.

This community is dedicated to powerscaling and versus battles between fictional characters who aren't exactly known for their fighting abilities.

Ever wondered whether Arthur could beat Arnold? Whether Postman Pat could take Fireman Sam? Or who would win in a fight between Homer Simpson and Daddy Pig?

That's what we're here to find out.

What to Post

  • Versus Battles: Post two pathetic fictional characters and ask who wins. An image and title are enough.
  • Feat Analysis: Share surprising feats from otherwise unimpressive characters.
  • Character Scaling: Discuss how strong, fast or durable a character actually is.
  • Discussions and Polls: Suggest matchups, debate characters or share ideas for the community.

You don't need to provide your own verdict or analysis. Just post your matchup and let the community decide who wins.

A Few Ground Rules

The main rule is simple: Keep it pathetic.

No superheroes, supervillains, gods, anime powerhouses or established fighters. We're interested in characters who aren't traditionally considered powerful.

Try to back up your arguments with actual feats or reasoning. The matchups might be ridiculous, but that doesn't mean the debates have to be.

Getting Started

Feel free to post your first matchup, share an obscure character feat or join an existing debate.

If you've got any suggestions for the subreddit, leave them below.

Looking forward to seeing which completely undeserving fictional character gets crowned the strongest of the pathetic.

Welcome to the first official matchup on r/PatheticPowerScaling!

A discussion over on r/PowerScaling about Arthur Read (Arthur) vs Arnold Shortman (Hey Arnold!) inspired me to create this community.

I thought it would be interesting to take characters who aren't remotely associated with fighting and actually analyse their feats, abilities and chances against one another.

Arthur Read vs Arnold Shortman

Rules:

  • Both characters are unarmed.
  • Neutral environment, no outside assistance.
  • Both are willing to fight.
  • Standard abilities and feats from their respective shows.

Arthur Read

Arthur isn't exactly known for his combat abilities, but he's shown some surprising aggression and durability.

Notable feats:

  • Famously punched D.W., demonstrating that he's willing to throw a punch when sufficiently provoked.
  • Survived being punched by Binky Barnes, one of the physically strongest children in his school.
  • Has shown a willingness to stand his ground when angry or frustrated.

Arthur's biggest advantage is arguably his aggression. While he isn't a trained fighter, he's capable of lashing out unexpectedly.

Arnold Shortman

Arnold might be one of the nicest kids in children's television, but his actual feats are surprisingly impressive.

Notable feats:

  • Accidentally knocked out Harold, a considerably larger child.
  • Has undergone martial arts training.
  • Demonstrated impressive reflexes, including catching a fly.

Arnold also tends to remain calm under pressure, which could be a significant advantage against someone as emotionally reactive as Arthur.

My Verdict: Arnold Wins (Mid Difficulty)

Hopefully, this is the first of many completely unnecessary but surprisingly detailed debates on r/PatheticPowerScaling.

Help Shape r/PatheticPowerScaling — What Would You Change About Powerscaling?

Now that the subreddit is up and running, I'd like some input on how we should build it.

The idea is simple: powerscaling characters who have absolutely no business being powerscaled. But I don't want this to just be a community shaped by one person's preferences.

I'd like r/PatheticPowerScaling to be community-led, with members having a say in the rules, post formats, events and general direction of the subreddit.

So, here's my question:

What's one thing you'd change about how powerscaling and versus battles are usually discussed online?

Whether it's people dismissing matchups without explaining themselves, taking debates too seriously, or something else entirely, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

Any other suggestions for the community are welcome too. This is a new subreddit, so now's a good time to help shape what it becomes.
