New Flair: Iranian Voices ONLY (Please Read Before Posting)
July 2026 Edit
The moderation team has changed this to a mod-only flair. We will quickly apply the "Only Iranians May Comment" flair whenever it is clear that the OP is specifically looking to hear from Iranians on the subject.
We are testing this out to see how it goes. We will update this post if anything else changes regarding the flair.
Today we added a new post flair: Iranian Voices ONLY
These threads are meant to center on the perspectives of Iranians, especially during times like these where outside noise can overwhelm the conversation.
What this means
Only Iranians may comment in these threads and violations may result in a ban.
Why we're doing this
r/Persian has always been open to everyone, and that will not change. But in these times, it's important to create space for Iranians to speak directly without being drowned out by outside voices.
This flair allows that space to exist when the OP chooses it. Non-Iranians may also choose this flair to ask questions directly to the Iranian community.
Where this applies
This rule applies only to posts using the Iranian Voices ONLY flair. All other threads remain open to everyone under our usual rules.
Final note
If you are not Iranian, please respect the purpose of these threads. There are many other places in the subreddit to participate.

Discussion Iranians need a Government in Exile
This post isn't strictly about Pahlavi. But it is obviously directed at Pahlavi.
The dream of a quick overthrow of the Islamic Regime is clearly over. Removing the Islamist Regime from Iran is going to take more time, effort, and probably blood.
In the meantime, I believe it is necessary for Iranians to form a government in exile to further delegitimize the regime in favor of Iranians. A team and a plan is not enough.
---
What is a "Government in Exile"? What would it do? Good questions.
This could an organization dedicated to 3 main objectives:
1. ⚖️ Liberation of Iran
The primary objective of this government must be the removal of the Islamic Regime, triggering a referendum, and maintaining the transition of Iran into democratic, secular society. This would be done by organizing rallies, fund raising, lobbying, and a well-coordinated media campaign inside Iran to break through the Islamist propaganda.
2. 🤝 Unification of Opposition Factions
Any future democratic government of Iran should welcome any and all opposing factions, including even factions like the MEK. There is no reason why these factions can't put aside their differences and start collaborating to overthrow the regime. There should be constant dialogue between members of the different factions. Overthrow of the regime is not a partisan issue. It's an Iran issue.
3. 🌐 Global Representation for Iranians, by Iranians
There must be representation for Iranians all around the world, in exile or otherwise. There should be elected representatives in every major city, like ambassadors. Iranians should be able to talk to representatives of their future government and raise their concerns. They should be able to vote on certain matters and start cooperating on a global scale to gain recognition as the new face of Iran.
---
To all Pahlavi supporters, what exactly are we waiting for? Pahlavi's transition plan already aligns with the first objective. What's stopping us from getting 2 and 3?
To all Pahlavi haters, what are YOU waiting for? Where are your "grass roots" representatives?
Whose permission are we waiting for to form our own government?!

Discussion Why do so many seem to think the Democrates or Republicans care about Iran? Can any of you name me a single pro Iran senator at all?
Frankly I don't know why Iranian American diaspora are arguing over which party cares more about Iran when its crystal clear that neither of them do. So arguing who is better is like arguing wether McDonalds or Buger King is healither.
If you don't believe me of the 100 senators can you name so much as ONE who cares about Iran? Just name him or her and I accept defeat.

Discussion In the future we the persian artists should try to represent our culture more
When I was a kid, I unfortunately was not much interested in history and stuff like that.
Recently that has changed and I've been reading books or listening to audio books or podcasts.
It's a shame how this history is thousands of years old, how much stuff there, from Pishdadian, Zahak and Kaveh, Rostam, Archer Arash, Shahnameh, Hafez, Cyrus the Great and the achaemenid empire, Sasanian empire, Nader, zoroastrianism, beautiful architecture beautiful everything, the list goes on, so many stories, so much to cover but let not make this post long.
I forgot a lot of it, I'm trying to make up for it and learn them once again.
The thing is, you look at media, movies, cartoons, video games, and you see a lot of representation of cultures, Greek, Egypt, China, Rome, etc.
Yet you see absolutely nothing about persian culture when this is a gold mine. This is literally gold mine waiting to be mined.
There are many reasons why this is the way it is and we have little persian coverage, but let's focus more on the future, I hope in a better future and timeline we see more. And perhaps it is us, who should create the representation we want to see.

History Thousands of Iranian international (leftist/commie) students protesting against the Shah 1978! The same Shah that funded their tuitions. Once the Ayatollah took power! The regime’s Islamic forces k*****d those same students once they returned! (Prob cause the IR regime saw them as future threats)

Discussion Save Ghazaleh from deportation to Iran
Hey guys, I’m reaching out for support to help this woman and hopefully get her case recognized. She is being sent back to the Islamic republic and sentenced to execution.
Ghazaleh, a woman who fled Iran seeking safety and protection in Denmark, is now facing deportation after her asylum application was rejected. If she is forced to return to Iran, she reportedly faces the threat of execution.
Her life is at risk, and her story deserves to be heard. Please raise awareness, share her story, and help bring attention to her case before it is too late. Every voice matters, and together, we can advocate for her safety and her right to seek protection.

Food How do you keep making Persian food?
To all the expats who used to live in Iran,
How do you keep eating healthy?
I’d love to eat healthy and cook everything from scratch like my mom (professional 9-5er).
But the problem with first world countries: they have an easy way for anything and of course it comes with preservatives and harmful ingredients.)
I was just thinking about us making pesto from scratch every time we wanted some. I haven’t made pesto in a couple years; now it’s just the cheap supermarket stuff.
I also want to keep in touch with my Persian food but it’s just so hard to make and I’m getting further away from it. I’m a good cook btw and I can make any Persian dish if I want to…
But I don’t have any Persian friends where I live which probably makes it worse.
