I’ve been working on OST2PST, a C++ tool that reads an Outlook OST and creates a Unicode PST without requiring Outlook, MAPI, an account, or network access. It includes a portable Windows GUI and a CLI.

In one recorded run, it converted a 26.25 GB OST to a 22.98 GB PST in about 32 minutes, with no skipped items and internal verification passing. I’ve also opened and checked mail and attachments from a smaller converted sample in Outlook. Compatibility across more OST files and Outlook versions still needs testing.

So i've had the account for over 20 years (hotmail.co.uk),

I received a forwarded email from the account saying that the primary alias had been changed whilst I was asleep (I had multiple accounts so forwarded the emails for easier access)

When I try to account recovery the account using microsofts options it says the account no longer exists or can be recognised.

I have all the information you'd ever need to recover the account and I still have the microsoft authenticator on my phone linked to the email that was stolen but that doesnt seem to help either?

Any tips on where to escalate to or how I can actually contact a support agent if anyone has experienced it in the past would be appreciated.

Legacy Outlook for Mac now no longer works, and it was the only functional way to use the app. The new Outlook for Mac doesn't sync, and it doesn't auto-populate or even have the ability to find contacts and email address of people who you have regular emails with. This app is worthless now. Unfortunately due to company policy, we are required to use an exchange server and can't use outlook.com

Honestly, this feels intentional by Microsoft. All these issues are long standing issues that Microsoft never fixed or even acknowledged before shoving everyone into the "New" Outlook and terminating the functionality of Legacy Outlook.

I have no idea what to do now. I'll have to travel with 2 laptops now. One for email, one for everything else. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I'm not going to transition to New Outlook and I think Thunderbird is not good enough for business mails and good calendar management.
Since I hear a lot about Vibe Coding I was wondering if somebody could help us and generate a good and stable Outlook Classic clone we can use when Outlook Classic isn't available anymore.

Why do you think this is a bad idea and why do you think it is a good idea? I'm curious!

Alright. So I have been facing this very weird issue with my Outlook email. My "important" folder shows just grey althought I have messages there.

It seems like what causes this, is a verification message from Roblox. This issue only happens with those messages. When I open any other folder, or set filter like "yesterday", "last week" etc., it works perfectly fine. But this Roblox message makes it grey for some reason, so that I can't view my latest arrived messages, or complete the Roblox verification.

Since it shows the messages very shortly when i open Outlook before going grey, I was able to delete the Roblox message - and it started working again.

So, does anyone here know, what could cause this issue, and how could it be fixed?

On our Windows Server 2025 RDS hosts (new Outlook for Windows, Exchange Online, shared mailbox) I see a strange problem with attachments.

For some senders, not all, the attachments arrive as ATT00001, ATT00002 and so on, without a file extension. Sometimes there is no attachment shown at all. If I open the same message in OWA, the attachments have the correct names and the correct .pdf extension.

Has anyone seen this? Is there a known issue or a fix.

Edit: All affected mails show “The digital signature for … on this message is valid and trusted” at the top. so may it has todo with this?

Update: if I drag the message from the mailbox to the desktop and double-click the saved file, it opens in new Outlook, the signature banner is gone, and I can see and open the attachments (with the correct file names). Same message, same client, but different result depending on whether it is opened from the mailbox or from a file. Very strange.

I have had the same outlook for about a decade and I just got on it today and my recovery email and password was changed and I don’t have my 25 digit code, so I do not know how exactly to go about getting it back.

I tried calling but the AI that they have pick up the phone just gives me the same link to go to and hangs up on me.

Every time I have done the recovery form for the account it has just said I did not provide enough information, is there any other ways to go about it?

I am changing from outlook to gmail and was wondering if there is a way to move all events (past and upcoming) from my outlook calendar to my google calendar?

When I log on to outlook one of my accounts shows up as a more mobile friendly inbox that is large and easy to see/pick emails.(first pic)But when I switch to a different account it seems like its made more for a desktop with smaller options to click on and read. (Second pic) both of the accounts used to show up as the mobile version from the first pic. Then one day a few months ago it switched over and im not sure why. Can any one tell me how to change it back?

So basically i got my main one hacked cant recovery so i make second one still got hacked so i factor reset my pc reinstall window make the third one couple week later got hacked even though i put two factor on so i make the forth and still got hacked and i didn't even start to using it any tip to help pls

I created my Hotmail account however long ago into the past. I believe in 2024, I created a google account using that same Hotmail address.

If I delete my Google account which uses that Hotmail address, it wouldn’t affect my Hotmail account in any way, would it?

I know how absurd it reads, but I’m not in the best place for thinking right now, so I feel like taking the risk of looking stupid for a moment.

In addition to that. There’s just no way that I somehow mixed things up and that I actually created my Hotmail account via Google, right? Hotmail is all Microsoft owned?

FFS, Fix the app to stop signing me out every time I turn on my computer. It's so irritating to have to keep login in to all my emails having to reauthenticate every single time.
Big rich company with applications getting worse each and everyday, how can a simple email application be so difficult.
I am even receiving emails saying my account has been login in weird countries I never been to.
A whole ton of second email this and that crap, and you still can't make anything smooth or secure.

Received a text on my phone telling me there was a suspicious activity in USA ( whatever, i click the link provided to say it's not me, this just give you a page telling you to find it yourself.. )

I go in the activity at the provided time : nothing

Okay, whatever. I get back to my computer to check my email on chrome and I'm stuck with a sign in window: I connect using my password, this bring a window, it tell me it's suspicious and I should use a new password, and to verify with my phone number. I do the whole thing, verification with phone code ect..

Then it tell me to login with the new password, I do it and it just tell me suspicious, change it again..

Now it just show up an "access error" and doesn't let me access my outlook email anymore on any device, any ideas ?

I have a Samsung S20 FE, my employer's sign in page will no longer load in both Outlook and Teams (I was signed out and prompted to sign back in).

-I've uninstalled and reinstalled both Outlook and Teams, clearing data and cache.

-I've tried rolling back Android System Webview app, updating the Android System Webview app, and using a different version of the System Webview apps (like Canary).

-I've changed the Private DNS setting in my phone from auto to off.

These were the typical fixed I found that I've tried multiple times without any luck. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

I've tried every path forward thru customer support, and it tells me my account is fine and I can sign in. I have the Authenticator App and use it for work, which the support page tells me will work, but there is not path to use it when I actually try to log in. There appears to be no official recourse for this problem and any attempt to make contact with support gets me to the same series of help pages that don't address the existence of or possibility of having this issue.

I’m desperate folks. I can’t see emails in inbox within a thread. I used to BCC myself when I was waiting on a response from someone. Email in my inbox is easier to track / snooze / flag.

Now I switched from Mac to PC and outlook stacks the two emails (in inbox folder and sent folder) so when I expand a conversation I only see one line for the two emails and it’s labeled as “Sent” instead of Inbox.

Now I can’t rely on the conversation thread to indicate which emails are in my inbox instead. Why would Microsoft assume I prefer to see the sent duplicate instead of the inbox duplicate? Just silly

I have been trying to sign into my email on a new computer, as you do. I went through the "new" sign in process verified with my phone number rather than my password which I thought was odd. My problem is i cannot get into my email without compromising another email. I have tried two factor auth. and device authentication but i cannot get passed this ransom ware. Anyone have a way of getting passed this. Ive had this account for over 20 years and i dont want to have to leave.

Yesterday, all I wanted to do was not have to scan a QR code to get into my email. (Apparently it’s not an option.)

So I went into the settings and I guess I turned off the passkey or something.

Last night, I shut my computer down.

Today when I tried to open outlook email, it still wants me to scan the QR code. When I did, it said there are no matching passkeys saved for login.microsoft.com

What do I do now?

I have tried uninstalling / reinstalling, but all these accounts continually reappear on my list when I click the + sign at the bottom of "All Accounts". I want them gone, please advise how this can be done.

I can't figure out that when I check me email on PC, some emails appear for a milisecond then are gone. I don't have any rules or filters that I can find. Anyone have a fix for this?

Duplicate emails can result from rule conflicts or using the import / export functions or server errors or upload conflicts.

Is there a free way to bulk identify and list duplicate emails, review and then delete?

Open source, Github, VBA macro; etc?

Signed in to Hotmail.com account. No way to select any e-mail in any folder; clicking the empty space where it should be simply opens the e-mail.

Selected Help from the toolbar, Help again in yet another toolbar, went thru thru the pointless steps on the slide-out, entered 'checkboxes' and -- OMG -- they didn't have a preset solution for 'checkboxes not displayed'!! So I clicked Still Need Help? Yes. Of course then they want me to "Sign in to see support options." ... Am I not already signed in, looking at my e-mail?? How did I click Help and get the slide-out, then that I still needed help?

So I click the sign-in button, and yet another thing pops up on the other side of the screen, asking that I sign in, complete with a 'We found an account you can use here' with the account that I'm signed in on listed. I click it, the pop-up window goes white, then closes.

...

That's it. It doesn't re-sign me in, open another window with other options, the slide-out is still open, still only telling me to sign in, etc. Doing so again only repeats the process of getting no help, no support, no solutions.

Can you guess that I'm looking to close this account and all my others (which do have checkboxes) as this is typical of dealing with MS? I already closed all my Skydrive accounts, one of which, I saw today, MS had graciously reopened, signed me up, without my having to do a thing, including giving permission. Aww; so, so, so sweet. I imagine they're going to also help me by copying any e-mail attachment I receive or send to it for public viewing.

I decided to see if Outlook at reimplemented Unified inbox, after removing it on New Outlook. I was surprised when I downloaded the app, signed in and saw "All Accounts", the way it looks on the iOS app.

Today I opened the app and saw it immediately vanish. So I went down the rabbit hole and found the Help > Go to Classic Outlook button, I downloaded it and it's asking me for a subscription.

MS knows people prefer Classic and are trying to capitalize on it.

Apparently there are plans to rollout unified inbox or something similar to the new Outlook but its a "slow" roll-out.

I am going to continue to use Mozilla's Thunderbird as are many others.

Microsoft continues to be a joke and seems to be leaning into it, no wonder they love their new, Widely adopted Microslop name.
