Hello there! So... I'm back posting on reddit again and for those who had done some roleplays with me. Everyone gonna ask: Where have I been for the past 3 days?
Simple answer really: Reddit suspended my account for 3 days.
I absolutely hated this. Their automoderation system sucks so bad since one of my comment during a roleplay with one of the users got automatically flagged for inciting hate. And remind me again why I adamantly oppose face/id verification as a whole. But that's not here and there. If you have any complaints regarding their automoderation system that falsely flagged your comment especially during roleplay, just leave it in the comment section below. I probably am going to make a tutorial how to evade the automoderation detection but yeah... This is one of the reasons why I intentionally mispell or censors some words during roleplay. When you roleplay with me, expect the fact that some words will get censored or intentionally mispelled with some alphabets are replaced with numbers. Like I said, the automoderation sucks that I need to be creative.
Regardless, even if I got unbanned. I just noticed something: Reddit and its continuous UI updates really feels pretty hostile towards roleplayers in general. Now, there are some updates that done decent, at the very least. But there are some updates that I absolutely dislike and I'm gonna tell the most egregious and most detrimental for RP purposes:
1. If you are going to check message and notifications, if you accidentally slide to the left, you are going to accidentally delete the notifications. Sure, its so that users can clean up some space. But it is especially hard and terrible during roleplays since if you accidentally erase the notifications, you are not getting those messages back unless if you check some notifications on your phone. And even then, if you turn off your phone and accidentally deleted your message. There's a guarantee the message lost to time. Why is this important? Because it could come across as some people ignoring the message and accidentally ghosting them during roleplays. So yeah, this is one of the updates that I think is also bad.
2. I also did not like Reddit letting people hiding their posts or comments. Now, being fair, I do have mixed feelings on this. And my apologies that I came across as a bit stalkerish when it comes on checking people's accounts just to do roleplay. I get why they give the updates considering user privacy is somewhat important. But at times, it made continuing or doing old roleplays extremely hard to do. Especially when trying to search comments. When you decided to hide your posts or comments, expect the fact that reddit will also disabled the word search that hinders you to find old posts or comments to continue some roleplays so yeah...
3. Admittedly, this is minor but I don't like Reddit forcing people to use Google Photos instead of the phone's regular gallery to do roleplays and also unable to position the picture whatever you want during roleplays. For google photos, it all comes down to me fearing if the storage would be too full and how you need to upload some pictures there if the Google Drive hasnt synchronized well with the other areas where the picture was downloaded or saved. Its still related to roleplay considering I used some pictures of characters to do roleplays with other people so yeah...
I haven't even touch the save feature that got changed which made things tedious or even the combination between dm notifications+regular notifications that made things also tedious yet. That and how reddit notifications are absolutely abysmal so much so that people did not notice you posted something and this has been the problem for ages even before the shitty UI updates that hinder some roleplays.
So yeah. Tl;dr? I got suspended for 3 days due to how shitty reddit automoderation system is. That and it made me realize that several Reddit UI updates on mobile are pretty hostile and abysmal to some roleplayers like me.
That's all folks. For those who did some roleplays with me. We will continue tomorrow.
