My Inspiration & Design Journey:

The inspiration for this character came from a video I recently watched about tarantulas. I was so fascinated to see that they have retractable claws just like cats! Not only that, but when they get angry, they actually hiss and swat at things—exactly like a grumpy kitty, haha!

That adorable and hilarious behavior completely inspired me. To highlight this spider-cat crossover, I designed her pupils to look like cat eyes and gave her a playful, mischievous expression. I really wanted to capture that cute yet feisty personality!

Bonnie is afraid of storms. This can mean thunder and lightning, strong winds, flooding, or even just rain. She lost a parent in a flood.

Victor Fawkes is afraid of aging. He grasps his youth and prolongs it for as long as he possibly can, all the while he pursues a form of eternal life through technology.

Fennik is afraid of shrimp. She isn't quite sure why. Not bothered by any other crustaceans.

Levi (right) is afraid that his sister Lorelei (left) will delve too deep into the occult and become some manner of demonic pawn.

A lil yapping abt them if anyone is interested:

Haku: A feminine boy (idk the word femboy sounds informal rn) who was chronically SA’ed in high school bcz of his feminine looks and behavior. His trauma caused hypers3xuality in him ever since and many people never see past that part of him and find out he’s actually very shy and sweet :((( (im planning on making a love interest for him to cure his trauma)

Sarang (adopted) : He’s literally Cupid and has to anomynously help his brother (from the shadows) learn how to love correctly. He is determined to help Haku bcz he was the only one supporting him when Sarang was also being bullied for looking feminine.

Braig (u/Entitecontinetofasia) gets to be one of my bug guys! This was especially fun because I haven't done anything with this species before, so Braig is kinda breaking new ground here lol. I imagine they spend a lot of time exploring the Yuma wastelands, indulging their own curiosity! Also definitely pranking people when they can :D Rowan would adore Braig and want to learn all the pranks he can from them lmao

Ley (u/Kliktichik) gets to be a Jerbine! Not much had to change to adapt Ley to the species, other than giving her the more animal-ish anatomy. She lives solo, which is unusual for Jerbines, and definitely spends her days challenging people to fights and traveling the wastlands, hoping to get stronger so she can one day fight the same leader that banished her from the tribe she came from.

Natalie (u/RaisaAlfera) is a Coydog! I thought her being this species would be a great way to adapt her monstrous form that she has. I imagine she also really enjoys fighting when she can and she's well adapted to the rough life of the apocalypse. My character Rowan has definitely tried to get Maryn to fight her before lmao.

And finally Jack (u/PixelJack79) is a Yumite! This was another really easy one to adapt. I've been meaning to draw some of your ocs for a while and I'm really happy to finally have the excuse to! I think Jack is definitely living in a settlement, and I feel like he's probably a musician for hire. He'd absolutely be friends with Maryn, they're both very gentle souls.
